I think now that the question of whether or not this season is a success lies inthis series. Coming up short in the ALCS would be tough to stomach but it would clearly be a step forward for the franchise and beating the Red Sox would be huge. I do think we need this series to have a successful season to build on. No matter what happens, we'll always have yesterdays game

I think that playing for a run whenever you can get them is the way to go for the WHite Sox. There are no universals. I wouldn't make that move if I were Joe Torre with his lineup (although Tito should have Renteria bunt over Damon with Edgars struggles). I think that Ozzie should continue to be aggressive. I think that we can get burned and not have a cloud over us because the team bounces back when Ozzie keeps the pressure on. If you want to see the WHite Sox trying to hit the 3 run bomb and not hit/run or steal-watch our offense for much of Auguest and September-ugh.

Boston @ Chicago - ALDS Game 2

Here's an optimistic take: the Red Sox will overcompensate with patience yesterday after their hasty approach a day ago. This means that when Mark attacks the zone like he usually does-Boston will take too many strikes early in the count and Mark will get ahead of hitters. Even if they come out hacking-they might swing their way into a deeper funk after yesterday. Plus, Wells likes Buehrle so much that I think Mark can be in David's head just a little. Wells might try to be too fine today -

keep in mind the context is that this was written BEFORE we won today. however, he picked the Padres to beat the Cardinals which is just getting too cute for your own good. Kind of taints his praise for us if you ask me

Two other notes. While Buehrle struggled at tad against Boston this year his career numbers against Boston are solid with an era in the 3's. He did a good job of minimizing damage last time against them too. Also, Boomer Wells career numbers against the Sox are uninspiring as are his numebrs at the Cell so there is another thing to be encouraged by -

I have no worries because the only real fear is geting swept at home to start a 5 gamer and that didn't happen. I think our guys will play extremely loose tomorrow. In addition, our bullpen guys like Jenks, Hermanson, and even Hernandez are all available for whatever they are asked for tomorrow with the day off to follow. Ozzie can really grab a hold of the game if Marky can go 6-7 and then mix and match Cliff-Cotts-Marte-Jenks-Hermy for the last 6-9 outs. I think we are in good shape heading into tomorrow. Clearly, the White Sox are not intimidated so now we just have to play baseball. No room for Nervousness around here! Let's let the ballclubs attitude be mirrored here. -
You think Schilling vs. Garland is a mismatch for us? I think the opposite. We have roughed up Schilling badly this year and outside of his start this past Saturday-he's pitched like he's washed up. Even giving him credit as a guy who will rise to the occasion, he's even with Garland at best

Contreras has a home here after today. Forget the salary and trading him at his peak value. I want to see Jose on the bump for us in 06 -

I agree that the Mart-ay Partay could use some work but maybe you don't want to use both lefties today, or maybe you do. We know Hermanson should be ready to give 2 innings tomorrow at least. Thats good news -
I think Sutt wears a piece. His headset was messed up last year and it pushed forward his hair and there was plenty of scalp to be seen in the back

They light some shows to make his hair look ticker. You'll notice difference from the booth to primetime to abc work.

I'm glad we don't make the playoffs every year. This is much more exciting given how bad we want it -

No matter what happens tomorrow we'll have at least one home win so those ALCS tickets will be hotcakes on Thursday. If we were down 0-2 it would have been halfhearted buying by the fans -

It's hard to retaliate too in this atmosphere. You don't want to be a pushover but you don't want to spark them either -
