  1. I think there is some urgency because while we aren't young, we are already expensive and will only get more so. I think our window exists for this year and perhaps another one bt you can't count on anything past this October.
  2. You HAVE to wait until Soxfest to get B-Mac. Just in case for the offseason.
  3. QUOTE(KevHead0881 @ Oct 7, 2005 -> 10:12 AM) "The coast is clear, Mr. Graffanino. You can come out now." I think I have a favorite
  4. Let's be proactive and finish the job today. I want schilling to be able to go golfing on Monday morning while we get ready for NY. Let's make it a done deal, come on Freddy!
  5. My Take: Buck is very good if you watch him do Cardinal games. He does the National games more, well, corporate I guess. His personality is better suited for those St. Louis games, watch him do them sometime if you can Brenneman: Maybe the best. Prone to hyperbole but he does get very interested in the games which is nice. Brantley-I really like Jeff. That said, I think he's better in the studio where he doesn't harp as much. Workign with Steve Stone actually balanced him out pretty good. Suttcliffe-I think he's extremely good. He will praise a guy and rip him too. He'll call it how he sees it in general. I think lately he's been a little too starstruck but if you watch him do a Padres-Braves game-you'll get good analysis Berman-Phones it in completely. Comes off genrealyl underprepared because he feels as an old pro that he can wing it. They fly him all over to do many different sports but he is not that good as a pbp guy. He doesn't know the players that well so he does schtick. A guy you should listen to if you get a chance is Bob Carpenter. He does weekend Cardinal games and then does some ESPN work usually on Monday Night Baseball. Pretty good announcer. I think Dave O'Brien is usually pretty decent too. I think Morgan knows a lot but he is stubborn with his views and a little high and mighty while Miller used to be rpetty good but now just tries to make Joe laugh by doing schtick. He has phoned it in a lot these last few years
  6. My drinking game tomorrow is to celebrate the first postseason series win with a bottle of champagne. I will keep having champagne until I have to tune into sportscenter and see who won again. It would be like winning twice!
  7. Well St. Louis looked like they would sweep the Atros last year after 2 wins at home before dropping three on the road. It's hard to go on the road in the playoffs-no doubt. That said, let's hope for the wind blowing in tomorrow so that Freddy can pitch up in the zone and so that we will trying to squeeze runs across rather than play corpseball. I love our team in bad weather-just the opposite feeling of our recent teams
  8. Yeah the announcers really missed that one. They read it as a misread but a guy with back pain not getting down enough is a flag in that direction. I think (hope) he will be fine. I am not a fan of Joe but if you rode the Crede horse this far-no sense changing now.
  9. I think Crede's problems are more back related than mentally related. If we are going to play up to 17 more games we need to figure out what we have so I wouldn't pull the plug on Crede two games in. Let's see if he can play himself right here over the weekend
  10. I really want to win it all because don't you think Ozzie will call out the media for bandwagon jumping? I KNOW he will and it will be pretty funny
  11. Check out which states believe in us the most. Wyoming and Arkansas I believe. Weird
  12. Todd Jones should get a mention, but yes-Griffey deserved it. I wouldn't have voted for Giambi. I like Jason but a good deal of his problems were self-inflicted. I am all about forgiveness-but I think handing a guy an award is a little too far the other way.
  13. It'd be a good forum for peoeple to take digital photos of theri stuff and just simply share with others as well. I know I have stuff I'd like to sow off as I'm sure many of us do
  14. QUOTE(Middle Buffalo @ Oct 6, 2005 -> 10:37 AM) Tom Hanks is Jay Mariotti? lol
  15. Yeah the two grounders in the first are balls that go for hits if the defense isn't positioned the right way. Iguchi's hit was strange. I thought it was a snort at first but it hung up oddly
  16. Stone would have been an excellent choice. Him and Steve Phillips work well together. Some here think he's an idiot for being a bad GM but he does his homework and balances knowledge of stats and tools well. He doesn't phone in his color commentary. Plus him and Stone have good chemistry. Unfortunately, Berman's ego means he is the guys who swoops in for big baseball games even though he doesn't know that much
  17. Tom Hanks is an Oakland A's fan. He was involved in the HBO documentary on Oakland sports. He was rooting on the Red Sox last year on top of the Monster. He is a Dodger fan. See a pattern here? He is NOT a White Sox fan. I love Bill Murray but I'm gonna puke if we start to see Murray, Belushi, Cusack and the Usual Suspects coming around
  18. I don't think Hawk does his homework on visiting teams. He knows a lot about the game but he doesn't know much about the players short of what they've done against he White Sox. I'm not saying its easy to follow other leagues but his knowledge of the NL is also criminally bad
  19. Smart money says that we will get Joe Buck (who is very good) and Tim McCarver who is , well Tim McCarver. Not sure if Bret Boone will join them this year or not. The NL will likely get Thom Brenneman and Steve Lyons. They won't have Al Leiter this year so I don't know who else they will get. This probably could get switched if the series didn't have Boston and NY but St. Louis advances. Buck is the A-team so it's hard to say although I think the AL will get him no matter what
  20. Face it Kruk...someone had to tell you your career was over...just happened to be the Sox. I'm afraid I don't understand. He retired, wasn't released. He was hitting really well when he left. Not sure your facts are in line on this one
  21. The Colts have proven what great front four play can do for your defense. Its the same way that corners look bad even if they are great when there is no pass rush
  22. Hitting to Cano would involve going the other way for many of our hitters so that'd be out. They have a pretty limited range tandem up the middle. However, I should not be talking about this yet
  23. I wonder what Dustin Hermanson thinks, in private, about losing his job to Bobby Jenks. No matter what, something tells me Hermanson will have a chance to do something big before its all said and done
  24. You can revel in our win. There is no Jinx, but there is a Jenks.
