Decision Time Approaching For Crede...
Punch and Judy Garland replied to bjm676's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I think that saying something can't be backed by eivdence is a copout. I don't have one statistic that I love for defense but come on. That's just hyperbole. -
Decision Time Approaching For Crede...

QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 04:49 PM) Joe Crede is a gold glove caliber thirdbaseman. He may not hit .300, but he takes enough hits away from those that do to make up for it. He also has talent and we need to be willling to help that develop into star material. the "makes up for it argument" is thrown around a little loosely. Show me a fact that backs up that his defense makes him a better than average third-baseman when it comes to combining all facets of the game. -
Decision Time Approaching For Crede...

Due to a lack of options I'd say that we shoudl off him arbitration on a year to year basis for now. As it gets mroe expensive-I'd make my decision accordingly. I'd rather have Muller but if there are no other optiosn I'd keep Joe but without getting locked into a long deal -
I'll give it a shot. I'll add my preseason picks if I can remember them. I didn't do preseason picks for the last two categories AL Cy Young = Bartolo Colon..........Preseason-Colon (got one right!) AL MVP = Vlad Guerrero................Preseason-Hideki Matsui. Oops. AL ROY = Robinson Cano (Yankee resurgence began with his call-up) Preseason-Kazmir AL Rolaids Relief = Mariano Rivera (Wickman an honorable mention) AL Manager of the Year = Eric Wedge. Not really close with Ozzie's implosion and the fact that even though the A's turned it around-Ken Macha will not be back next year. NL Cy Young = Carpenter.....................Preseason-Peavy NL MVP = Albert Pujols.........................Preseason-Pujols. MVP's don't hit 270 or below and Jones is no more important to that team than Furcal or Chipper NL ROY = Ryan Howard......................Preseason-JJ Hardy. A dud pick NL Rolaids Relief = Trevor Hoffman. It's not easy to argue against Cordero but Hoffman has been the one constant for this playoff team. COrdero has a whip under 1 and an era a run lower but Hoffman has walked just nine guys this year and has had a better September than Cordero. Close call though NL Manager of the Year = Tony La Russa. Losing Rolen, Molina, Sanders, and Walker is not insignificant. This feels a bit like it will be a referendum on who is better between TLR and Cox which might not be fair to either but I think that's how it will be voted on).

Nope, CY too. Postseason doesn't matter. I think the most amazing thing is that all four big awards besided ROY could come down to ballot ranking. For some of them, the guy who has the most first place votes could finish 4th on many other ballots. It might just be the guy who gets some first place votes but does not finish worse than second on most. Fascinating stuff in the only sport where this stuff matters. Football MVP? Please.

He'll be a free agent in time, maybe after nest year I think. There are rumors they could trade him to Houston too. Maybe if the White Sox organization weren't so petty and actually were run professionally we could have looked into resigning him in two years. But instead, the Sox do what they like to do, rip someone on the way out.

I think Hafner wasn't good enough wire to wire. Some MVP's win based on the strenght of their September but Guerrero, Rodriguez, and Ortiz have all had great Septembers too. All are better players than Hafner and had better starts. No doubt that Hafner has greatly helped that lineup but I think 4th place is where he should finish and there is no shame at all in that given the three ahead of him. I still don't know who I'd pick to win it all. I'm leaning towards Guerrero because of his good pennant chase numbers and since their lineup isn't deep. However, that ignores the injury time missed and a weak August for Vladdy Daddy. This thing will likely remain undecided until one of them has that signature moment next week.

Cleveland vs. Chicago 09/21/05 7:05PM CT

Since this game is over, check out the mlb.com standings. Kind of interesting stuff. THe only teams to play really good baseball over the last ten games are the Yanks and the Tribe as they are 8-2 and the only ones with 7 or more wins. CHeck out the NL. Virutally every team is either 4-6, 5-5, or 6-4 over the last ten. Goofy stuff going on -
I do laugh at how much hype surrounded Bondo before the year. Don't get me wrong-he's a pretty amazing talent. It's just like the Arizona Cardinals being this years sexy pick. Predictors want players and teams go from carwling to running.

I think this was two separate incidents. Or so I think -
14-13 with a 4.58 era but its deceiving because him Johan and Mays just rotate owning us at varous times

I think Gatorade was causing Carlos Zambrano to cramp up in his forearm so I think maybe water would still be the way to go. -

I haven't talked abotu this here but next time you hear that Pon Del Replay (sp?) song it sounds like she say Juan Uribe a bit. Think about it next time you hear it. My buddies and I play it after Juan does something big. -
Hermandson is my guy still, but let's face it. We don;t have that Rivera or Foulke (last year) guy who can go close a game and go multiple innings three nights in a row. That to me is among our biggest playoff problems. Bring on Billy Wagner in 06!

If you pinch run for your best player then I think you have to steal -

I know its probably the smart hting but I think I would leave Konerko in because we might miss his bat later. If there were no outs I'd pinch run but now I'd leave him in -
True, we are all in this together. Except for the trolls.
