  1. He's better on both sides of the ball thant Uribe (despite what people here will tell you) but he will look for Jimmy Rollins dollars and that just isn't doable.
  2. especially without a link or a hard source (no offense to topic starter)
  3. Maybe its their Devil Ray background distorting my view but I just hate the idea of giving up B-Mac and plenty more for three of their guys. And I'm well aware of the three in question from fantasy leagues and I've seen them a bit but it just gives me an uneasy feeling. With Schmidt, Burnett, Wagner, Griffey, or people of that ilk-I can be bothered by what we are giving up but I would be happy with what we get back. With the Tampa fire sale, its just too unproven of a package for me to feel that THIS makes us World Series favorites and that is the criteria that you must be judged by if you are going to trade the future for the present.
  4. O3 mid-first rounder, 5 tool player out of high school, played in 05 futures game
  5. This makes Boston appear very unprofessional. Whether it is Theo's fault or not, it makes him look bad to have his word on a trade mean less. Semi-similar to what DePodesta did a year ago
  6. I would think that the only teams seriously in on Winn are St. Louis and New York and you have to feel that NY is the favorite because their interest is higher and their negotiations are known to be serious this week. I think Jocketty will make a splash with an outfielder and it won't be Winn or Lawton. They will add a big guy like Brian Giles (I was surprised to hear that too) or Griffey.
  7. yeah but you know that your offensive numbers are graded on a curve if you play the infield (sans first)
  8. Fox blows. I would rather have a "Game of the week" than your team regionally by national broadcasters. WHy not show a doubleheader instead of Mash reruns? Its horribly run
  9. Now Milledge goes to the Sawx, Hanley to the Red Sox, Heilman to the Sawx, and Lugo to the Mets. THis per espn, not done yet though
  10. For all the heat Belle used to take I'd rather have him than Sheffield or Ramirez. At least with Belle you know he wanted to win, with those guys it is in doubt
  11. Yeah I'd hate for a Twins fan to celebrate Frank's problems so I hope Hunter comes back soon so we can beat them even-up
  12. Can Hermy pitch three days in a row for more than one inning on some games during the playoffs? Nope. Can Billy? Yep.
  13. sounds too easy. I just don't see that being enough for the Phils unless they want to use Mac for Burnett on their own.
  14. Sanchez is a guy I don't know much about other than that Gammons raves about him in his columns. Petit has deceptive stuff but not overpowering from what I've read. That said, he has dominated all levels so far. Milledge is a VERy toolsy outfielder who could be special although he was smaller than I thought he'd be. He looks like a Jose Reyes with mildly more power to me in center. Shoppach is about as good of a prospect for a catcher you will find. They don't come around often and would be a big upgrade over Toby Hall in the longrun. Could be a Chuck Lamar homerun. Milledge isn't close to the bigs but it would make you wonder if Crawford, Baldelli, or Gathright isn't long for the team having Delmon, Gomes, and then Milledge all in the outfield glut too. How about spinning one of those guys for Ryan Howard in the offseason if you are the Rays?
  15. TB gets Petit, Shoppach, MIlledge and Anibal Sanchez and all are very high prospects, especially the MEts ones. Also, I hear the Dispatch in St Louis says the Cards may be after Griffey, presumably to play left.
  16. Sanchez, Shoppach, Milledge and Petit? I'f I'm Chuck Lamar I can't say yes fast enough. Good deal for the Mets too getting a good arm in the pen and one of the best hitters in the game. I just don't think Huff moving to first and Cameron playing left (center next year) is enough for Boston although the contract dump probably would please management.
  17. Let's ratle off names of guys who will be available after August 1 thru waivers. Surely you could say that Griffey will be. Probably Manny (although you can really only send prospects back for post deadline guys), Milton, maybe the Perez/Lowe tandem. Who else?
  18. No midnight is some other league I think. Watch espnews on sunday after the deadline special. That was where they announced Loaiza last year about an hour or more after the deadline. I think pretty much all deals were announced an hour after the special last year
  19. Does Wagner have a no-trade? The Cards are a sleeper in the Wagner stakes.
  20. Tools and great bloodlines make this guy a disappointment. I think he'll catch on and start for someone next year
  21. I'm nervous about a tired pitching staff headed into a series highlighted by the Cuban Pitching Crisis. Hopefully they go deep into games because they damn need to
  22. It baffles my mind how people can involve themselves in the team or trade threads and then say they don't want threads about the future of the team. I don't see how ignorance is a good thing. If you don't like the timing of the post, then go find another. For a board that is largely male, there are no shortage of boobs here.
