  1. Baltimore would definitely extend Burnett. As would Toronto. We'd probably not. Burnett will get 4 years at least and we likely won't go there. If I'm the Marlins I like adding Julio and a young guy like Cabrera to the NL in a pitcher's park.
  2. We might learn a little bit about Schmitty tonight with that AS rest against the Dodgers.
  3. I think SD needs to add bats, not subtract. It would bery KW-like to allow Wells to leave via FA and then trade for him
  4. I think the Burnett deal is in serious troubel now that the Jays are heavily involved. I think AJ will end up there.
  5. Using steroids is obviously not a death sentence in the big leagues (Turnbow) but it sure does temper excitement. I have a hard time getting worked up about Valido
  6. If you watched Eckstein day-in, day-out you would realize he is better than advertised. His defense is actually pretty good and he is a very adequate leadoff man for that team. I honestly was an Eckstein-hater before this year after only watching him a little bit in Anaheim.
  7. just one of those guys that is identifiable and that everybody knows. One of those Chicago things.
  8. St. Louis is baseball's best team and we wouldn't score runs off them in my opinion. Our rotations are pretty even but we aren't necessarily better than Carpenter-Morris-Mulder. Plus I think Ozzie would be outmanaged within the game. Just my opinion and by posting this I am violating my self-imposed all-star break where I'm not supposed to talk about or read sports!!!
  9. Given that with the expanded rosters and how they are supposed to save guys for extras, the last man on is kind of least deserving in PT so it doesn't bother me at all that he only played the field. Nice AB by Konsucko by the way.
  10. i was kidding about the 2.00 whip, didn't think green would be necessary there
  11. I love Pujols. Game's best player. Glad to see him do well while Mark still doing very well too.
  12. In 2009 that Ilgauskas deal will look silly. He MAY be worth $12 million a year for the next two years but he will rob them on the back half of the deal IMO
  13. True. But don't we know what Willie is? I'd take a chance that Boone has anything left compared to Willie. Not saying at all we should have traded for him, but he's better than Harris.
  14. I worry a bit about Mark because I remember what happened to a lefty contact pitcher-Tommy Glavine. It was hard to watch
  15. copy/paste from Kruk edit-I don't like Kruk like most here but I do respect him not pulling punches on this one. It's kind of refreshing to see someone not afraid to say how they feel about someone specific
  16. "BASEBALL AS A HUMBLER Hopefully the release of Bret Boone and the demotion of Corey Patterson will be good things for these guys' careers. Sometimes players get too comfortable and/or cocky and need a taste of failure to realize that they aren't the greatest thing since sliced bread. In both cases that might be true. Patterson's case is harder to figure out because when he came to the majors he seemed like a potentially great all-around player. Now he doesn't do anything right anymore. He doesn't field particularly well, he strikes out too much and he doesn't get on base. It seems like he got a little too comfortable in the majors and now the Cubs are telling him that he needs to shape up or be shipped out. Boone is a little different because he's one of the cockiest people I've ever met. Anybody who has ever met him will attest to the fact that he's cocky as all g't out. Being cut by the Seattle Mariners could be a huge wake-up call. The worst thing that could happen to a player is to get cut by his team because it's the ultimate "you're done" move. This may make him realize that this game is not to be messed around with and will humble him. "
  17. I want Rogers in as the second or third pitcher becausse otherwise the "Kenny ROgers Bullpen Watch" dominates the game thru 9 innings. At least if he pitches the 4th inning then the story comes to a head and we can move on.
  18. I wanted to vote RIckman who was otherworldly in Galaxy Quest but I went with John Corbet who is also really good. Sandler and Jim Carrey? Am I on E!'s website?
  19. I read your other posts in another thread on this topic and your McCarthy-like accusations are irresponsible and I know you wouldn't say these things to Mr. Abreu's face. I finished talking with you.
  20. My opinion is that people who speculate that current players are jucing up during the testing era are dopes. In fact, I meant to say stronger but my new leaf of civility is currently turned over.
  21. he was rather plump. How about that bomb the Hawk hit? Wow.
  22. To be honest the American league lacks in good pitchers, at least compratively to the NL. I can't imagine scrounging for pitching in an AL-only fantasy league
