  1. THe AJ thing is an interesting subplot. At least AJ caught him and knows what he likes to throw. There wouldn't be an adjustment period. Plus, the AL cna have fun seeing him for the first time too (basically).
  2. Doesn't he throw 3/4 and not exactly over-the-top? If so I can see how he could pitch with it. Ozzie Smith played for a decade on that torn cuff from throwing at a different angle. It's hard to compare a pitcher to a SS with that injury but perhaps the arm angle could allow him to finish the season.
  3. QUOTE(rudylaw @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 02:38 PM) Don't worry about it at this rate we'll clinch by August 17th Man does this talk make me cringe when we have 13 left with them. Let's not too cocky just in case. We don't need bulletin board material for the Twins message board
  4. With his numbers, there is a decent chance that he might still make someone's big league club, or at least garner some AAA interest.
  5. .911 to .738. That is quite an OPS difference. Maybe people are right waiting for the other shoe to drop with Griffey but maybe not.
  6. I don't think Gammons is misinformed but the Marlins probably are setting the deadline as a means of negotiating but they'd revisit a trade after it. Just one of those things.
  7. To each his own, I just said what I'd be willing to do to improve this year. At this point Rowand is a better defender but Griffey isn't done out there by any means.
  8. Get excited folks. He could be our ticket to the Series. Not sure about that? Check out his game one performance in the 03 NLDS. If that Series goes 5, the Florida Marlins fail to reach the World Series and Josh Beckett and Miguel Cabrera aren't household names.
  9. IF they took back a very large portion of the contract I would trade Rowand for him in a heartbeat. That said, I don't think the Reds would eat nearly enough to do it.
  10. Wanted to bump this for the Schmitty game tonight. This is the stretch run for the trade deadline and a guys value and a team's interest really ride on these 4 or so starts. Good start last time for him, let's see if he can show consistency and perhaps he'd then be a Sox pitcher. He can put those silly USED to be good comments to bed. For those who watch games on the West coast, Jason Schmidt is capable of being not an Ace, but an Ace of the league.
  11. Lowe does have the worst contract of the four and is the oldest though
  12. I'm a bit surprised by the low sales for tonight. Probably a healthy walk-up crowd. Hopefully they get a 10 K walkup, which could happen after the last 5 wins and Maggs in town
  13. Ozzie has a hard-on for guys who played for him. That's why Timo keeps running out there, and that is why Adkins will be back before Baj. Plain and simple. IN some ways, and I can't believe I'm actually saying this, but Ozzie needs to be careful with the loyalty to a fault because that is what has hurt Dusty.
  14. Sounds very fair to both sides to me. The Cubs get a competent outfielder with upside and the Indians relieve their logjam for at least another season. Both are nice players, perhaps an ever so slight advantage to the Flubs but its close
  15. Urlacher would need two monster DT's in front of him or Farnsworht would bowl over him
  16. I at least respect the Twins even if I dislike them. In fact, I don't really root much against them when we are in front by quite a bit. The Cubs winning one game in a season is one too many for me.
  17. I wouldn't mind Weaver, but I'm not gaga over him either. I just don't know if he could pitch under pressure. His stuff is good enough to pitch anywhere, Cell included, but I think there are real makeup concerns. I'd be game if it didn't take much but not if it meant giving up a prized prospect.
  18. It just doesn't sound like Billy is going anywhere. Ed Wade can't punt the season with his job in the balance.
  19. team chemistry is an excuse to not take a risk. It would be an emotional letdown to the players if it didn't appear ownership was willing to do what it takes to win it all. I think though that Kenny is keeping his cards close to his chest and will make an impact move. I hope we send prospects and not big leaguers, that's the best way to preserve "team chemistry"
  20. It's easy to come here and gloat after one good game, Timo people did it after his big hit against Oakland (I think it was them?). Do it with ANY type of cinsistency and I'd be pleased.
  21. Jason Schmidt, your table is waiting. I'm oddly ok with his bad performance. THe worst thing that could have happened was two good weeks from Hernandez, the deadline passes, and then he gets hurt again/struggles the last two months. Let's go get Schmitty.
  22. I think you do a physical but not sure if you can get the player to do an MRI, etc. Plus I bet its easy to pass a physical even with arm issues (Sirotka, Penny)
  23. THis BETTER not happen. Latroy WAS good 2 years ago, he is garbage now and I will be pissed if we get him. Maybe I'd trade Timo for him......
  24. It's not actually that stupid. Notice those are the four teams closest to where he grew up? It isn't based on need, he would just only go to the four places closest to Peoria.
