  1. you can see that I said that I hate to hold those megastars against him, which is why I didn't. But, realistically this is a huge challenge coming up the next few eyars and his legacy remains intact either way but status as the greatest coach ever might at least temporarily depend on what he is able to do
  2. you are right about his road numbers. I hadn't realized his splits were so pronounced three years running. We do have a hitters park too though
  3. I was pissed about sending the same three out there until I saw there guys. Looks like we have a shot
  4. I know that many here would jump off the ledge but if we packaged Crede, B-Mac, Anderson and another top guy (Gio, Sweeney, Fields, etc.) for Oswalt and Ensberg I'd jump for joy and clear some time in October
  5. Rightbut you also have to remember that Oakland used their closers differently so its not that he blew 20 saves and hung on to win half. They'd bring in guys early or in tied games. Not saying he didn't blow a few for them but it wouldn't be entirely accurate to say his 11 wins were undesirable
  6. Koch had 11 or so with 40 saves before we got him, now that's valauble to a fantasy team
  7. I think Rosenthal made an intriguing case for why the Stros should trade Lidge a month back. Clearly it would be a king's ransom but you'd get what you paid for
  8. Hypothetically, even with edwin encarnacion the Reds would do a Randa for Crede swap right?
  9. QUOTE(rangercal @ Jun 19, 2005 -> 09:58 PM) so red had no stars? find where I said that
  10. It isn't happening but I think clearly that IF you landed na Oswalt, you'd be the world series favorite which we aren't right now. THe thing is that the Astros would likely ask for Buehrle or Garland inreturn which isn't happening
  11. Roy Oswalt available? I don't think so. If he was I'd send Mac, Anderson, Fields, and lifetime season tickets from the scout's section for that guy
  12. QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Jun 19, 2005 -> 11:20 PM) Id pay to sit on the bench and you'd pay dearly: White Sox Dugout Experience Price - $2,000 per person (2 Guests maximum) * Guest(s) will sit in the White Sox dugout to watch a portion of batting practice * Two United Scout Seats (which includes food and beverages)
  13. I think Leiter would be a buy low candidate. I also think he'd be more valuable out of the pen in the postseason. let's face it, you cna't move him for a guy without imperfections
  14. I posted it in anotehr thread but I think an Al Leiter for Hernandez swap could make sense for both sides in a month
  15. I went with Red. I feel that coaches are unfairly penalized for loyalty in staying in one place while guys like Larry Brown and Bill Parcels get extra credit for fleeing and doing well some place else. Phil is obviously a great coach and I hat eto hold Shaq/MJ/Pip/Kobe against him but we'll get to see how good he is if he can win with this Laker team
  16. Without getting into it all over again, you have to wonder if Carl Everett's trade value would be diminished with the recent bad press. Generally this stuff doesn't matter as teams love anyone who can hit but you wonder with last week and his past troubles if he's thought of as too flaky for a pennant team to want.
  17. Nope he's too good still. Nice luxury for once in awhile but he deserves better as he's still easily one of our best hitters
  18. well let's think outloud here. We know the Yankees would have some interest. Probably not a fit there as a trading partner. The Marlins might think about doing an Al Leiter for Hernandez swap as Leiter has been brutal but had a good night last night when they desperately needed him. Leiter is pulling down around 7-8 this year and its true that el Duque's contract goign through next year complicates things. The Mets would surely be interested because it would tweak the Yankees and a Hernandez return to New York would play very well with the fans and the media. There probably isn't a very sensible guy to be sent back as the Mets have no relief pitching to deal and with Benson and Pedro entrenched-Zambrano and Glavine aren't guys that either side would be too excited about.
  19. this is a Joe Morgan dream team. He ws still kind of annyoing though and I feel a bit bad for a Dodger fan since they didn't really talk abotu the Dodgers at all. Not a whole lot nice to say at the moment but national games are often treated 50/50 but in both of our Sunday night games we have dominated the airtime
  20. Sorry for beating the deadhorse but I still have the gut feeling that he is going to be swapped for another starter in july. Duque's trade value is obviously much much less than it was 6 weeks ago so I'd imagine we'd end up taking a guy back who has his own warts. Mac has been struggling lately so I think there isn't a whole lot of optimism about this call up besides that he gets to face the Royals AAAA team.
  21. putting the al central down is just plain ignorant of non-white sox baseball.
  22. I think we're just talking about it because 5 starters in the playoffs isn't necessary and its in fact impractical for the most part. It's an interesting question that has no easy answer. Plus Jose was great in the pen down the stretch in 03. THis topic has little to do with the regular season, which Jose has helped be successful so far
