  1. I don't think we should underestimate what a dominant bullpen can do for us. Willie can still be a special player IMHO.
  2. Glad to hear he'll be around for a few more years. I can't wait to see him patrolling center again!
  3. You guys seem to forget that we are flying under the radar.
  4. Put on some Hawks home games. Right here Bill Wirtz :finger
  5. Sign Rowand and stay away from Billy Beane. :headshake
  6. I think Willie can get it done at 2nd, but Iguchi seems like a solid player with a ton of speed. I'd love to get him, but it's not the end of the world if we don't. I think catcher is a more pressing need for this team right now.
  7. QUOTE(Mr. Zero @ Jan 2, 2005 -> 02:56 PM) I used to be against the signing of Pierzynski. But really, if the price is right, it couldn't hurt too much, could it? I'm a big fan of Ben Davis and giving him a shot this year, but.... AJ Pierzynski may be too hard to pass up. Sign with the Sox, AJ! I agree 100%. I used to think that he would be a bad sign with all of the negative press I've been hearing about him, but now I'm thinking he brings a lot to the table plus he's a nice upgrade over BD and JB.
  8. Seeing what we've had in past years for a rotation, how can we be anything but excited as hell with what we have now??? I really like the rotation right now. I think we match up really well with anyone (when healthy). Even if The Duke goes down for a while we can throw Hermanson out there (or even Grilli). That would still be a temporary fix until The Duke gets healthy. I dislike AJ, but he's a good player. He brings a lot to the table with his stats and his intangibles. I'd love to take the chance on Iguchi, but I'm confident Peapod will have an awesome year.
  9. Hate whichever team is the biggest threat of winning the division. Our goal, obviously is to win the division, and the team that is best suited to win it (other than the Sox) is typically, the most hated. Used to be the Indians in their heyday, now definitely the Twins. BTW, the Indians and Tigers have talented teams and may be ready to challenge for the division again very soon. The only time I personally care what the Cubs are doing is when they are playing us.
  10. Seems like he'd be a good pick up, but I'd rather we address catcher over 2nd base. Plus he's making the trasition to a different culture. Not terribly easy to do.
  11. I like the Duke. I'm not sure what I'm getting with JErmaine Dye. He posted some terrific numbers about 4-5 years ago but has been consitently on the DL since. Let's pray for a healthy team and see what happens.
  12. I say no to Reese and NO to Cora. We already have this type of player in Wilson Valdez.
  13. I love math...math, YES!!!
  14. Twins are the best right now. IF Freddy can be the Freddy we traded for, IF JC can be the stud we saw at times, IF El Duque can stay healthy, and IF JG gets his head out of his ass we can be damn good. If all of this goes our way, we can be the best. However, our bullpen is AWESOME right now, maybe the best in baseball.
  15. That's AWESOME!!! If his shoulder is back at 100% let's do this.
  16. I just don't know about taking a guy who has been injured. With our payroll being strapped, if he were to go down, it would sting that much more. :banghead
  17. I'd like someone with better #s, but he's a serious competitor and I like that about him.
  18. Excellent point. Damn near all of these pitchers are being overpaid (Pavano for 1 good year, Clement, etc.). The problem is that we will not overpay, and therefore, we will not have a top tier FA unless we're the only bidders.
  19. Yes, get the pitcher. Then, if there's $ leftover, give it to Pierzynski (even though I can't stand him). :puke Pierzynski
  20. Rotoworld says that Perez will be heading to the Mariners or Nationals. It looks like the Ms are willing to dish out more cash. Whom else can we try to lowball?
  21. I like Schoeney, or maybe Big Dustin Hermanson. I agree that we need to stick with someone for a good 5-7 starts, otherwise we may need to hire a team psychiatrist because we're screwing up these kids' heads.
  22. I like what we have from a starting pitching standpoint, but I don't love it. Adding a Milton, a Millwood, or an Odalis Perez makes our staff that much better. It pushes Garland down to #5 and makes our BP lights out because we'd have 5 options to close out games with Shingo, Marte, Hermanson, Vizcaino, and a healthy Politte . I like what that does for us. Plus, the opposition never has that "easy" day against an unproven starter.
  23. I think Kendall has another 2-3 years on that fatty contract from Pitt. He's a good player but he's making a ton of money, all things considered. Plus, good point about the book. I agree, if something is written in a book, people think it has to bee 100% fact. It could happen to anyone.
