  1. http://www.realgmfootball.com/src_wiretap_...on_celebration/ Boldin dipped out on the celebration. He really really doesn't want to be in Arizona. Bears should try to pick him up. I know they won't, but the Bears need a real WR.
  2. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 18, 2009 -> 08:58 PM) I don't think so. He just really had no chance against a defense of this caliber. Especially on the road in a game of this magnitude. They desperately needed to run the ball effectively to win the game. And with McClain a non-factor due to injury, the Ravens really had no chance. Nope. Reed is by far the best ballhawking safety in the league. As Palehose stated, Troy excels at both ballhawking and as a run stopper. Congrats by the way Palehose. Agree to disagree then. I think Ed is better as does Troy, but there really isn't a way to say, for sure, without a doubt as one guy is not definitely better than the next. And since I would take either one on my team and not be upset about it, I'll leave it at that. I would prefer Ed Reed, you would prefer Troy. Not shabby options, especially when you consider Bears safeties, or for my team, the Cowboys.
  3. QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Jan 18, 2009 -> 09:20 PM) If Hines Ward is done, that might be a solid pick. He looks done. That leg injury looked nasty.
  4. I'm going with the Cardinals. They seem to be playing on both cylinders and I don't think the Steelers are capable of scoring more points than the Eagles did and I don't think they are capable of slowing down the Cardinals offense unless they don't blitz much at all. A great point brought up is that when you blitz a high octane offense, you leave the down the field option open. When you have Larry Fitzgerald and Anquan Boldin as the WR's, that's asking for trouble. I think it will be great game, but honestly, I could see either team blowing out the other one.
  5. QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Jan 18, 2009 -> 06:36 PM) That's why Polamalu is the best safety in the league. Plays the pass and run very well. Reed is better, Troy is playing on a healthier team. Even Troy said Ed Reed is the best.
  6. Wow, nice play by the Cardinals. Eagles secondary is having a hard time right now.
  7. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jan 18, 2009 -> 02:25 PM) This is the set-up for the Peavy deal. It's the only reason why this and the Derosa deal were done. I don't think so. They have less of what the Padres would want or need. I don't know why people still think they're going to get Peavy. They have nothing to trade.
  8. I think the Eagles and Ravens win, with the Eagles finally winning the Super Bowl. If the Cardinals win, I expect them to lose against the Ravens.
  9. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 17, 2009 -> 02:18 AM) Think it's about time to start looking at the Magic as a legitimate contender in the EC. They've got to be the least talked about 32-8 team I can remember. Very impressive road win against by far the best team in the west tonight. Come playoff time, I'm still not convinced enough that they have a guy who can create for himself when key baskets are needed. We shall see though. They are definitely one of the top 2 teams in the East. I still don't consider Cleveland all that great.
  10. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Jan 16, 2009 -> 06:47 PM) There's a difference between "dumbing down" the offense and doing what the Bulls are doing right now. Their offensive basically consists of 3 guys standing on the perimeter while a big that can't run the pick-and-roll sets a pick for Rose, then if he doesn't get to the basket it gets kicked out to someone that generally passses it around the perimeter or takes a long jumper. They really run more of a quasi-DDR offense than D'Antoni's system (though with picks), they don't really do the "7 seconds or less" thing and they don't shoot anywhere near enough 3's. Plus if that's really what their goal was then either Del Negro is an idiot for forcing a system that they know they're not suited for or Paxson is an idiot for not bringing in different players that can run the system (if they knew that was the system they were going with than yes, re-signing Deng was not smart). Either way it's a serious mess. Skiles at least got it to work with most of the same core for a while and they played better defense too. I'm more inclined to believe that Del Negro isn't quite sure what he wants to do or how to do it and that the players don't respect him at all than anything else. At this point, with our current players, there is no difference. I know offhand Del Harris, Bickerstaff, VDN, Skiles and Ron Adams all complained about the players' lack of understanding the playbook and Adams and Skiles main culprit for this was Noah as he never would be in the proper spot three seconds into the play. That's from the inside. Guys like Tyrus has taken more time to get a grasp on things as well as Thabo and they still don't understand it(though Tyrus and Thabo have attempted to learn it and are really putting in effort which is why management still doesn't want to let them go). The offense is supposed to be a more efficient version of D'Antoni's offense, but not the exact thing. For example, it's not necessarily SSOL, but it follows the same European style of spreading the floor our, and allowing a wide open lane for penetration. If the defense collapses, we're supposed to kick out for an open three, but just like D'Antoni's offense, there's certain spots players are supposed to be in at all times. Again, the players had a hard time learning the offense/sports, so VDN scrapped most of it. Now the pick and roll is supposed to be implemented as well, but it's supposed to be way more complex in terms of, there's supposed to be a ton more movement around the pick and roll, but again, the offense was dumbed down so that's not what you are seeing. All in all, it's supposed to be European offense with spots like D'Antoni runs with a little dribble drive motion mixed in. There's not supposed to be much posting up at all.
  11. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 16, 2009 -> 05:52 PM) Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah. Thats all I see when "trying" to justify anything he has done. His team's time has passed and so has his. He should be gone after this season without a doubt. He is the worst GM in this town which says alot. The Bulls are losing fans, games and opportunities to start building a real time around a future star. When it comes down to it, Rock, you are correct and I wish to see him out of town. I wouldn't want to see the coach fired just yet though.
  12. I'll take Pie over Owens in CF, but then again, I would put myself in CF over Owens, but I don't know if I would sign him to this team. Ozzie is stuck on Owens it seems like and it's going to take a huge injury before he's gone.
  13. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 16, 2009 -> 04:14 PM) Yes, I do think Paxson tends to fall in love with players he drafted (and that's a bad quality to have for any GM). But I don't fault Paxson for not trading for KG or Kobe. With Kobe, I don't think he was ever leaving the Lakers. Even if there was a chance, we saw Kobe's teams, along with KG's in Minnesota, when they were surrounded by mediocre talent. It would've been the same situation here. I do think he should've made a move for Gasol in 2007. But didn't they want Deng? Funny how they settled for Kwame f***ing Brown a year later. Well not getting Pau was not Paxson's fault at all. Grizzlies simply wanted cap space and Heisley first offered Pau to the Bulls because he's from Chicago and wanted to help out the Bulls since they are in a different conference all-together anyway. Ownership said no because they did not want to pay for the luxury tax. For Kobe, Paxson didn't want to get rid of Kirk or Luol. He wanted the trade centered around Ben and Tyrus. Kobe himself didn't want Kirk here because he felt he would be too ball dominant, but he did want Luol here. In the end, Paxson took too much time and winning ended up resolving the Kobe issue. KG is one thing you could fault Paxson for. They wanted Luol, even salaries and some draft picks. I think Kirk and Ben would've been nice around KG. Paxson, however, did not want to give any of his precious core up, so that's why this deal wasn't made.
  14. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Jan 16, 2009 -> 04:09 PM) Right now I think Paxson's aim should be to clear as much cap-space in 2010 as possible, to try and sign either Chris Bosh or Amare Stoudemire to a max deal. Either of those 2 playing next to Derrick Rose would be an insane combo (Bosh especially with his shooting ability). I would go with Amare as he also has a jumper, and he's more explosive IMO. And Paxson does have a few trades on the table in which will allow them to go after a 2010 free agent. The reason he won't trade Hughes right now is because most of the deals want him to take a contract past 2010 which is worthless since Hughes contract doesn't.
  15. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Jan 16, 2009 -> 11:51 AM) That's what annoys me, numerous people on this board realize that Deng floating out around the perimeter is a bad thing because he's not quick enough to consistently get to the basket from there nor a good enough shooter to hit the long 2-pointer regularly, and yet they still put him out there. What he can do is move well without the ball, finish when he does get around the basket (he's regularly been around 60% in the basket area) and hit a pretty good number of mid-range jumpers. Is it really that hard to set up a curl or pin-down for him once in a while? It's not like your other players are lighting it up with their current system, especially if Rose and/or Gordon is having a rough night. Well the thing is, VDN wants to run a more efficient D'Antoni offense. That's one big reason the offense looks so godawful outside of nights when Gordon and Rose are lighting it up. Deng is not suited at all for this and neither are any of our frontcourt players minus maybe Tyrus. You have to be able to hit a jumpshot, which again, Deng has not been able to do since 06/07, and/or have to be able to drive at will which Deng never has been able to do. Deng would be ideal in the Kings princeton offense of the Adelman days, or even Skiles' offense which calls for a ton of movement. Under a guy like VDN and even D'Antoni, Deng does not work whatsoever. His skillset isn't tailored for that. This is why I give VDN some slack. It's his first year and the players are in a completely different offense. The reason why a lot of the time, you don't see many plays called is because we have dumbarse players on this team, literally. VDN has stated they had to take alot of the plays and movement out of the offense because many of the players couldn't grasp it(I'm looking at you mainly Noah). And Skiles complained about it the year before too.
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 16, 2009 -> 11:24 AM) One thing about Deng right now...the offense we're running currently isn't really tailored to him any more. His job in the current offense is to sort of sit outside and wait for a shot to come to him rather than generate anything. Yeah, his performance is down, but if he's not in position to do what he's good at, we ought to expect that. Yeah, if you can't do one of two things, you're useless in this offense. That's drive or shoot. Deng's dribbling isn't great, but he doesn't have a even decent first step(which is how a slow guy like Pierce actually gets his shot off), he doesn't have footwork, and he lost his jumpshot about a year and a half ago.
  17. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Jan 16, 2009 -> 04:01 PM) Would the Bears go after Jordan Gross to play RT if he became a FA and cut John Tait I wonder? Gross is probably one of the best 2 or 3 RT's in the league. That would be hard not to.
  18. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 16, 2009 -> 03:46 PM) Yeah, that's exactly what I meant. First of all, calm down. Second, my only point in regarding the fans is that it's easy to play Monday morning QB AFTER a trade/draft/signing backfires. If you didn't have a problem with a move at the time it happened, STFU about it and move on. Don't sit here acting like you knew all along it was a bad move. Or want to roast the guy who made the move when you had no problem with it at the time. There isn't a GM in the history of sports that hasn't made multiple bad trades, FA signings or made bad draft picks. If you fired a GM after every bad move/moves they made we'd have a different GM every week. Everybody loved Paxson in 2007. Now a year and a half later he's garbage and should be fired. Give me a f***in' break. Bingo. KW has made way more questionable moves than Paxson has at the time acquisitions were made. Of course, baseball and basketball are two different things, but at the same time, on the day of actual moves, I don't think no one could say that was a terrible trade minus letting JR Smith go for nothing. Other than that, Paxson has always solid acquisitions. Paxson's problem has always been his lack of trades and consildating talent.
  19. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 16, 2009 -> 03:35 PM) Its not the pass rush that let someone like Griese have his best game against the Bears. The pass rush needs a few seconds to get penetration and the coverage wasnt there to allow pressure at times. We have a terrible secondary. Vasher is done at this point, we dont have a true starter to fill in. Our safeties are average AT BEST. Dont discount the value of a dominant DB, it eliminates usually a team's best threat and half the field. 2 seconds more coverage leads to sacks. We have plenty of DE talent IMO but are VERY thin at LB especially with Urlacher moving into decline and at DB we have a crew of fillins. Took the words out of my mouth. Tillman has never been a world beater and IMHO he should be no more than a nickel or a #2 with Champ Bailey on the other side of him. Vasher is like Tillman IMHO as well. They have good qualities and I think Vasher is a better tackler and coverage person why Tillman is the better ballhawk. Either way, they are not the answer at CB. The S is screwed up as well IMO. Bears have good backups starting at those positions, especially when Brown is injured. I also think they have to move on from Mike Brown. Other more prominent needs IMO are WR and DE.
  20. And also, to his credit besides the 07 draft, he took the BPA's available. No one could really make a case for anyone else taken after his lottery picks as better. In 07, Roy didn't make sense(he still doesn't as him and Gordon's production is very similar and Roy's defense is worse than Gordon's). The only debate was Tyrus or LA. Tyrus won because he was way more athletic which is what Paxson and Skiles wanted along with some fans here. BTW, I still want Paxson fired for his lack of pulling triggers. Hopefully that Hughes, Nocioni for Jermaine deal gets done. Heck throw in Gooden and Noah to sweeten the pot. I could do without all four.
  21. Well the Wallace signing was pushed by JR. That's where things started going downhil. 50% of the blame goes on ownership, 50% goes on the GM. JR pushed BW, Paxson did it. BW shook up the lockerroom. He tuned out Skiles while before coming here, that was blasphemy because you would not play if you did. Wallace was going to play no matter what on that contract. Still, Skiles could spin it as he's a vet and he has earned things in his career. Then Joakim Noah, the most immature Bull who's ever put on the uniform came about. He started disrespecting coaching, and other players saw this and to me it seemed like, "if Noah doesn't have to listen, we surely don't as we are now vets, and he's a rookie." Noah yells at Ron Adams cursing him up and down, and hell ensues. It's no coincidence that since Noah, especially came on, we've had problems with players buying into the coaches for the most part. Paxson's fault comes in acquiring too many assets and not trading them in for star assets. That means consolidating talent. The Bulls were built up of pieces who bought into the system, who worked hard, but weren't always the most talented group. Every player had their flaws, but we really didn't have a guy like Shaq and Kobe, Duncan and Parker, Pippen and Jordan, Isiah and Dumars. I think Paxson fell in love with his core and also thought the Detroit Piston model was the new rule and not the exception in terms of having at least one superstar leading your team. Now, while some of the fault falls on the players for not buying in, Paxson also had to know, not everyone was going to reach their potential. Luol seems to have settled for getting paid. Even at his best, he was never an impact player on this team and he always always faded in the second half of games. His rebounding since his peak season, has gone downhill. The only thing that I can say is better this year than any other year is his defense. He's playing really really nice defense. Gordon has improved the most out of the Baby Bulls as he no longer sucks on defense. He's also become more and more efficient and his overall(despite popular belief, check the numbers) game has improved. Rose, looks good, but he's not really a leader. He's humble to a fault. Doesn't have any killer instinct. Never has dating back to high school. Nocioni has turned to crap, but I think that's because he doesn't know how to play on a crap team. On every team he's ever been on, he's been a role player. Now he thinks he has to do way more on the court to start winning again instead of playing within himself. Tyrus has regressed from his rookie year IMO and LA IMHO was always a better choice(look back at my posts), but a lot of people here even wanted Tyrus. Over the past month though, Tyrus has been a really nice player. Noah cares more about smoking a j instead of on the court stuff. Gooden is terrible defensively and there's a reason he's been traded so many times. Hughes is what we all thought Larry Hughes is. Thabo is not an impact player either. He's a 7th or 8th man, but I think too many people love his size and don't pay attention to his actual ability. Kirk has regressed from his peak season and he's not as bad as I may have stated, but he's also no longer as good as 06/07. The thing is, he's too expensive as a backup and he's not suited to be a full-time SG.
  22. If you ask me, the Bears' biggest need is in the secondary. S and CB are definitely a priority. I think they may go second round with OL, but more likely the 3rd since they want to see what they have in Chris Williams.
