  1. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Dec 23, 2008 -> 07:18 PM) You really have a thing for guys that do nothing but hit jumpshots. And play excellent defense. Mayo is an all-star caliber defender. If you don't believe that, you have problems.
  2. QUOTE (jenks45monster @ Dec 23, 2008 -> 06:47 PM) I would LOVE to have David Price, but he's untouchable, right? Sure is. I wonder if would be able to pry Kazmir away from them. Meh, more wishful thinking. Heck a James Shields would be nice.
  3. QUOTE (SleepyWhiteSox @ Dec 23, 2008 -> 06:38 PM) Leave ROSE outta this... No, he snubbed DePaul and the Illini for Memphis. I actually like Rose. Would've preferred OJ, but Rose is pretty darn nice. On another note, anyone hate the Bulls wearing the black socks and shoes? That's supposed to be playoff tradition. We might as well allow headbands again.
  4. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Dec 23, 2008 -> 06:46 PM) Up to the minute NHL All Star voting for the Western Conference... Forwards: 1.) Patrick Kane - 581,264 2.) Johnathan Toews - 484,461 3.) Ryan Getzlaf - 373,592 Defensemen: 1.) Niklas Lidstrom - 488,455 2.) Brian Campbell - 476,339 Goalie: 1.) Roberto Luongo - 410,463 That's pretty awesome. While Tallon has made some mistakes, I can't give him crap for drafting Toews or Kane. Sharp is excellent as well.
  5. Pretty decent signing for the Mets for this year. Beyond? I don't know.
  6. QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Dec 23, 2008 -> 06:40 PM) *Waits for people to come in thread and say reacquiring Swish would be crazy* Personally, I liked Swisher but I wonder what the Yankees would want for Swish. Marquez, Betemit and Nunez?? Actually Swisher wouldn't be too bad to reacquire and then sending PK somewhere for more prospects. Or heck, package both Jermaine and him to TB for something really really nice. I'm just dreaming out loud though. Yankees are serious about getting their crown back.
  7. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Dec 23, 2008 -> 05:52 PM) Gordon also had 4 fouls and sent him to the line 11 times. Johnson had a bad shooting night, I watched that game. Gordon has never shut anyone down defensively. Ever. See, now you are just pulling any strings. Great defense means you don't allow for your man to score. Gordon's defense on him was excellent, especially in the 1st half where he just stifled him at which Johnson admitted to. So, no don't give me that crap that it doesn't count as a good defensive game for Gordon when players and coaches have commented on how good his defense has become. I'd love to see your analysis on Rose's defense. Wait, no I wouldn't because you clearly do not have a better view of how excellent defense is played than coaches and players. And Gordon sent him to the line 11 times but only fouled 4 times and that's if all the fouls have been on Gordon onto Johnson and a couple of those being 3 point attempts. I admit, I have not checked as of yet to see who Gordon fouled, but I find that extremely unlikely.
  8. QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Dec 23, 2008 -> 05:36 PM) Youre proving my point, after all that and theyre still tied for the lead in the division. Its not the worst division in football either, its not even the second worst. Those are out west. Yes, it really is. Bears are not serious contenders, Packers blow, Vikings are alright at best. Don't even get me started on the Lions. The Cardinals have a chance with a pretty great offense. Both divisions stink, but the NFC North is a joke.
  9. QUOTE (lostfan @ Dec 23, 2008 -> 05:34 PM) Tank Johnson wasn't an impact player, Marcus Harrison is pretty much whatever Tank Johnson was. Urlacher is not done, he's being held back by the awfulness of Babich. The inconsistency of the DTs in front of him hasn't really helped either. Hester's been a complete non-factor on ST this year. Tank Johnson was good enough to clog the middle where the Bears didn't need to stack the box with their d-line, therefore allowing to hide the weaknesses of their secondary. All they had to concentrate was their zone. Rivera had a good scheme, but had excellent players. Urlacher is definitely done. He's been awful for the past two years. That's not on Babich, that's on him. Briggs still makes the plays, Urlacher does not. And Hester shouldn't be expected to even average more than 1TD per year on ST.
  10. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Dec 23, 2008 -> 05:21 PM) I'm still waiting for you to tell me when Ben Gordon has ever shut anyone down defensively...that's what OUTSTANDING defensive players do. What is SMH? SMH is shake my head. Double SMH at you. Joe Johnson, 4-16 for 17 points. Ben guarded him all game long. Now again, show me someone who went off on Ben. Here, I'll save you some time, NO ONE!
  11. QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Dec 23, 2008 -> 04:20 PM) Dont get me wrong, Im fed up with the WHOLE coaching staff, but it should say something that the fans basically want the HC, OC and DCs heads on a stick and yet we have 9 wins and are tied for the division lead with what appears to be a terrible offense, an unmotivated aging defense and only one return td which isnt from Hester. Looking at our sack totals, offensive numbers etc you would think the Bears would only have a couple wins at this point. The Bears play in a terrible division with terrible overrated players. Urlacher is done and he should've never got that contract, Harris got paid and hasn't cared, Brown and Ogunleye are still decent, Mark Anderson hasn't been able to match his production from his rookie year, Tank Johnson is still being missed. Their secondary is atrocious. To expect Hester to continue being able to return TD's like it's nothing is unrealistic. Remember when DeAngelo Hall was all the rage? Where is he now? Excellent returners don't last. Hester is still dynamic and should still return kicks, but to say, "He only has one TD return" is being irresponsible as a fan of football. Hell didn't TB have a streak going where no one returned a kick for a TD? The Bears WR core is still pretty terrible. I see nothing but 3rd rate receivers. Hester should be a 3rd receiver, Booker a 4th, Olsen should be starting fulltime at TE with no splitting duties. Orton IMO is still not the answer, but he could be decent with good receivers around him. The problem is, the Bears offense isn't even interesting enough for top receivers. I still think firing Terry O'Shea was a mistake because those games Rex QB'd in that year, the offense was excellent and efficient.
  12. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Dec 22, 2008 -> 04:43 PM) That's not the ole technique, thats his turn stile technique. Considering Ben doesn't guard SF's, Luol does unless it's a huge guard (VC), that's a pretty bad picture that does not tell the whole picture. Luol got burned by LeBron, Gordon was just there. And Gordon did not cover Rondo, Derrick Rose did. Again, Gordon is in the picture as he's watching the ball, something taught in grade school. Oh, and Kobe got crossovered by Beno Udrih, but I guess that makes him a terrible defender as well. SMH. And as it stands, Ben Gordon is up there as the team's best player. The discussion is only him and Rose which is great because Rose is just a rookie. SMH at you people. I'm still waiting for someone to post who lit up Ben so far this year.
  13. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Dec 22, 2008 -> 01:45 AM) Give me a f***ing break. If I wanted to talk with 14 year old nerds about the NBA, then I'd post at RealGM. Sorry, I don't make up fantasy trades and envision a team full of Tyrus Thomas clones. I don't need defensive PER to see that Ben Gordon can't play defense. The entire Bulls team can't play defense. He's top 3 on a s***ty defensive team, awesome. Let's give him a f***ing award. No matter what you choose to see, he still can't get around a f***ing screen to save his life. Maybe you should keep posting about the NBA at RealGm because obviously my eyes are deceiving me and I'm just making uninformed statements. BG4DPOY!!!!111!1!one Saying his defense is outstanding is not only a travesty, but an insult to players in NBA and throughout NBA history who have actually played outstanding defense and actually give a s*** about their teams. Funny considering how NBA players themselves post there and executives view RealGM. In fact, aren't you still a teenager. I digress, but you should still get those eyes checked. He's playing great defense this year. His first year he sucked. Second year, he sucked with a few improvements. Third year he was mediocre, 5th year became average and this year he has become above average.
  14. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Dec 21, 2008 -> 02:29 AM) The guy still can't get around a f***ing screen. You hit the Kool-Aid hard. He's having his best season, but he's still too inconsistent to me. He'll have some great shooting nights and some terrible shooting nights, but he'll still get 16 points, which averages out his scoring. The only thing he does really well is shoot, everything else is mediocre to below average (defense, dribbling, passing, etc). He's also a selfish prick and tends to try to run the offense too much when Rose is on the court (same for Hughes). Brandon Roy is by far a more complete player, and considering he plays in the Western Conference, I don't think it's even that close. Also, tonight is one of the reasons I hate the Bulls. We beat a good Jazz team (twice now, once w/o Williams) but we can't beat the Bobcats? Kaman would be such a welcomed addition to this squad if he's healthy, but I just don't see a fit at all with LAC. Miller would be an OK addition but we'd still be bad defensively on the interior. I suppose it's good to hear that Pax is allegedly working the phones hard. And I LOVED hearing this from Rose after the game... Tell me who has gone off on Gordon this year? No one. His defensive PER is top 3 if not the best on the team. So it does look like you haven't done your research. His efficiency this year is by far the best of any Bulls player. Dribbling has been his biggest problem this year. On all things to worry about this year, Ben is towards the bottom of the list. I could see why you post here and not RealGM with uninformed statements like he can't get around a screen.
  15. I think it's a great idea. I would love to represent a country and I love seeing the different styles of baseball. I don't know why so many people object to it. It's the same thing for any other sport, it's about pride. Only in America would a league championship be worth more than a truly world championship. *shakes my head*
  16. Meh, I disagree. She is ugly in comparison to my woman, but for an old man like Drew who's suspected of pretty bad things, she's a good get.
  17. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 20, 2008 -> 10:52 AM) Whoa...don't ever compare Ben Gordon and Brandon Roy. One of is a complete player and one of the best guards in the league and the other is a good 3rd option on a team. I don't necessarily disagree with you on your love for Mayo, I often said pre-draft (as did you) that Mayo might end up being the best guy in the draft. Check the PERS and opposition PERS. Ben Gordon is the best guard on this team this year, his efficiency is nuts. His defense this year has been oustanding actually, but I'm guessing since he's 6'3, that's not possible. He's faced some pretty tough SG's already and the only SG to go off on the Bulls was Vince Carter and Luol Deng covered him all game. The whole Ben could only score and that it's myth is really bothersome, especially when it's so apparent that he's much much much better.
  18. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Dec 19, 2008 -> 02:36 PM) I think from watching Dallas over the past 4 weeks, their secondary is still not up to scratch, but because the pass rush has been so good, they haven't been exploited. I'd love for Dallas to go after a CF FS in the draft though (move Hamlin to SS and cut Roy Williams), because then I think our defense would pretty much be complete. Although an upgrade at NT (with Ratliff moving to DE) or DE in the 3-4 will help also. I would prefer that as well. I think if we had drafted LaRon Landry, Roy Williams would no longer be on this team. As for the Bears, their secondary is terrible, especially for a Cover-2 IMHO. The reason why they did so good was because of Ron Rivera, and the D-Line/Linebackers covering up a lot of the wholes the secondary had. The problem is, they aren't particularly fast, and they play for the INT which is a bad combination. In the secondary, the Bears need a complete revamp. I still think Vasher is the only one worth keeping, but if you want, it's either him or Tillman that stays, and neither of them are #1 CB's on a good team.
  19. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 19, 2008 -> 07:36 PM) Is this based on anything other than just wanting to say something that will shock people? It shouldn't shock people. There's a reason people were waiting for OJ since 7th grade. Both on the same tier. I don't consider one better than the other really in terms of impact.
  20. QUOTE (rangercal @ Dec 20, 2008 -> 08:16 AM) I love BG as much as the next guy, but I mean c'mon. He's no better as I said. Ben has scored 50 before and has pretty great efficiency. Ben is at the same level as Roy IMO. He's not at a Kobe-type superstar level like some people would like to think. And again, we already had a SG on the team named Ben Gordon, so that would have been a waste of a pick unless you move Hinrich or Ben which would have been dumb at the time considering both guys were playing good basketball and their problems were in the front court. Get on them for not keeping LaMarcus Aldridge.
  21. QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Dec 19, 2008 -> 05:24 PM) Do someting with the talent, then declare him amazing. This trick just got treated. DANG ps I do kind of agree, let's see what he does with his recruits. I'm interested nonetheless.
  22. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Dec 19, 2008 -> 12:11 AM) Brandon Roy dropped 50 on the Suns, he'd look awful good along side Rose right about now. No better than Ben Gordon.
  23. Not so fast. I think McHale is a joke, but at the same time, a lot of people, including some of you here likened Love to Mayo. A lot of people didn't want to believe the hype or anything. So no, Mchale doesn't get a slap on the hand for that one at all. I still like Mayo over Rose and I think he will by far be the best out of this class. Thomas also tried to assemble talent. In terms of pure trades, no one could say Isiah lost alot of them. The thing is, he didn't try to build a team that would necessarily mesh with each other. He's guilty of trying to have the best players. McHale is guilty of pure stupidity. McHale loses.
  24. That's terrible from a power pitcher
  25. I think that Kim Matuska was by far the prettiest one he's ever dated.
