  1. QUOTE (lostfan @ Dec 18, 2008 -> 06:59 PM) Consistently throwing off a hitter's timing and balance > wildly blowing a pitch by a guy. If you have the ability to do it anyway, not everyone does. And he couldn't do that with a 100mph fastball? BS, the speed differential would be greater between his fastball and his offspeed stuff therefore making all of his pitches much more devastating. I love Bobby as much as anyone, but his control didn't drastically improve in my eyes and he doesn't have any great movement on that pitch. And as what was already stated, he doesn't have any variations in his fastball. He throws it the same everytime down. Now if he threw it at 100mph, then slowed it down to 92, then you would be onto something.
  2. http://www.suntimes.com/news/peterson/1335...-121708.article It has her picture and name on the Sun-Times. Her dad, is understandably, livid.
  3. QUOTE (lostfan @ Dec 18, 2008 -> 06:31 PM) You kind of contradict yourself here, are we talking about the same Bobby Jenks? Bobby has always had 4 pitches, there's no need for him to develop any new ones. He still has a fastball, but he isn't one-dimensional. Well exactly. He's always had those 4 pitches, so how does lowering the velocity of your most dominating pitch helpful if you're not even going to put more movement on the ball? It's a whole lot harder catching up to a 100mph you know is coming than a 94mph fastball that you know is coming.
  4. I don't buy it. Only if all he threw was a fastball at 100mph would I. He has a hammer as well. How does lowering your velocity help you? I mean, I know it allows for a bit easier control, but at the same time, his reasoning does not fall in line with it. Because he still throws that fastball just as much, and he really hasn't developed any new pitches. 100mph which sometimes doesn't hit k zone & hammer >>> 94mph fastball which hits k zone more, but also gets more contact & hammer. Also, despite ERA, Jenks really made a lot of those innings very interesting. Always allowed a hit here or a walk there. He has gone from a strikeout pitcher to someone who depends on his defense a ton.
  5. What about Joe Nelson from the Marlins as a reliever. He was pretty good last year.
  6. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Dec 10, 2008 -> 09:41 PM) That ship has sailed. The Reds have about 10 mill to spend. And the Whitesox don't move money in the other direction in trades. If they want to trade Dye this offseason is his highest value. Moving him at the deadline in the season will get us 2nd tiered crap. So its either move him now, or let it ride. Pretty much summed it up. The White Sox are done for the offseason.
  7. That's when you hire a coach who was even mediocre at small schools. I have no idea in what DePaul was thinking when they hired him. Get a s***ty coach so he wouldn't leave the program?
  8. Yes! Mayweather wants PacMan. Please Boxing Gods, let the stars align! http://www.mlive.com/mayweather/index.ssf/...wants_me_t.html
  9. Um, where did John Heyman say this? I went to SI's website and it is nowhere. I couldn't find it on rotowire either.
  10. Terrible deal. He's not better than Johan and he's absolutely crapped in his pants in the playoffs.
  11. His crazy move will be not doing any more moves for the rest of the offseason.
  12. I rather go for Bailey. Hell, send JD back to the Royals and get Zack Greinke for yourself.
  13. He's pretty stupid. He was a guy who didn't want to be associated with the Daley machine, but still wanted to be corrupt. See what happens when you attempt to do things you own way? You end up in jail. And yeah, he's pretty stupid to try to extort the Tribune, and take bribes for an empty senator seat for the president-elect. All in all, he's a dumbass. He was going to get locked up after he was out of office. These two things just sped up the process. What a n00b. The sad thing is, the senator seat selection is still his.
  14. Accounting Final tommorow. I hope it goes well as every single one of my finals. I have my Business Law final due Wednesday and my Management final due Wednesday as well. Marketing I'm pretty sure is due by Friday.
  15. Agreed. I would've even liked to see Alabama vs USC. Ohio State vs Utah would've been decent and Texas vs Penn State would've been a good matchup I believe.
  16. I honestly wanna see him and PBF go at it. I would pay massive money to see that. DLH was way too old. His last good fight was PBF, he gave everything he got and still lost.
  17. QUOTE (sox1844 @ Dec 5, 2008 -> 07:40 AM) I liked it. At least it was something! Some life, some passion. Plus Balfour kept yelling F-U to Uribe, and OC was over it. Who cares if he looked like a fool. I'd rather look like a fool who goes down fighting than a fool who just stands by while his team gets destroyed. Bingo. Gimme someone who's going to defend his teammate and not stand up for that crap!
  18. Auburn was retarded in firing Tubby. There's no one out there who you can say is better. Saban now owns the state of AL because of that firing.
  19. I'll say right around 90 million. I cannot forsee us signing any FA. The only one who I think would make a difference with us is Manny, but that ain't happening.
  20. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 4, 2008 -> 02:18 PM) THATS a major benefit since Cowley is such a homo. Also, I would still keep Getz at 2B and move Alexei to CF if it was my team. Getz's contact and OBP is more valuable in the lineup than anything BA could bring. Alexei+Getz is better than Alexei and BA. I agree. I really liked what I saw out of Getz so I want him to get a good shot.
  21. Good. He's a fiery guy we need. Someone with some flare who won't be afraid to tell it like it is. I want him to piss off Cowley as well.
  22. Bobby Frasor > * He should've went to Illinois where he would get PT though. He basically screwed up going to UNC like Sean Dockery did going to Duke and to some extent, Jon Scheyer.
  23. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 3, 2008 -> 11:01 AM) So you think ratings are more important than the talent on the field? I dont think Ala is very good, that is all. I don't, but I do feel Alabama is the better team. They rose all the way to the top for a reason.
  24. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 3, 2008 -> 10:30 AM) What? Clemson wasn't in the positon to piss anything away. It was Illinois that succeeded in pissing away a win with stupid turnovers, poor defense, and a terrible last possession. My thoughts on the game: If McCamey has dreams of the NBA, he better start playing like he cares. He's the laziest "star" player i've ever seen. Just imagine if he had a little bit of Dee Brown and Frank Williams in him. He'd be the best guard in the conference, and one of the best in the country. Mike Davis...well, he showed a lot, but I'd say 80% of his shots were terrible in terms of form. His body never gets squared to the basket and his upper body always seem to be in front of his feet when he shoots. But whatever - he makes shots and he plays with emotion. I'll take that any day. Tisdale showed me enough last year that he'll be a solid 3-4 year guy. I dunno about the NBA (I dunno that any of these guys will be in the NBA) but I think by his senior year he'll be like one of those white dudes up in Wisky (can't remember their names...the one specifically I'm thinking of had the tuba player girlfriend they always showed on TV) - good to great conference big men. Last night he seemed to be plagued by the McCamey syndrome - lack of emotion and mentally checked out. Chester Frazier. Ugh. I hated you so much these last few years, but I see why Weber continues to play you and I'm beginning to change my opinion of you (for now...till you suck it up next week...) Some sick passes, some big rebounds, always good D and even a nice looking 3. If only you would have found a consistent shot... you'd have been a great college player. Keller. Some good rebounds and a couple of good shots. He looks like the scorer that people talked about when he decided to transfer. Weber. I can't blame anything on him in this game. His scheme was good (when the players executed), his adjustments were good (when the players executed), and he made the right substitutions throughout the whole game. As to the future, I can't wait for Legion. One more scorer on the floor and that game goes Illinois' way by 10-15 pts. I have to believe that defense and decision making are going to be issues all season. I think this is a team that could mold into a tourney team, but they're going to have to stop making the rookie mistakes they keep making. What??!!! The reason why Frank Williams never made it in the NBA is because he didn't care. He tried to let his talent get him through.
