  1. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Nov 23, 2008 -> 07:56 AM) I would say about as warm as Charlie Weis' seat I would say a lot less warm. Guenther has a ton of patience. Plus Zook just came off a great season last year. Weis hasn't been great since his first year at ND.
  2. Anyone watching the TTech and Oklahoma game? So far there has been a few questionable calls. Most notably, a 1st down catch in which one foot was clearly inbounds and the ball was caught. It didn't come out or even juggle until after he hit the ground out of bounds and the guy hit the ball out of his hands. It was put under review and the ref literally took 3 seconds of his time to "look" at it.
  3. My brother bought the first 2 seasons and I could hear him laughing from the basement all the time. I just stopped in his room once to see Danny DeVito and some chick discussing adopting so they could receive huge checks and then the girl has the idea of returning the kids when they do get paid.
  4. QUOTE (The Critic @ Nov 20, 2008 -> 03:59 PM) Also, is this Boogie Woogie Man Jimmy Valiant? No, it's Macho Man Randy Savage!!! :o http://www.pwpix.net/superstars/r/randysav...al=1&pic=21 Holy crap he's old.
  5. QUOTE (beck72 @ Nov 22, 2008 -> 02:45 PM) This sounds like a back up plan if the Mets don't land KRod. See what the money and years are, and if they can't land KRod, get Jenks. He's the next best option out there for closer, via trade or free agency. Doesn't sound too out there. The "Jenks has lost MPH on his FB", "declining K rate" talk might be from other teams to lower the cost of Jenks. Yet he's a better bet than Fuentes. And even Krod has some injury concerns. Actually the whole declining speed on his fastball and declining k rate comes from soxtalk posters as well. It's a valid concern.
  6. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Nov 21, 2008 -> 09:31 PM) 1) I don't think anyone has argued that Gordon has played poorly so far, outside of some scattered groans about the last two games. 2) I don't think anyone has argued that Larry Hughes or Kirk Hinrich is a better option at the moment, or that our big men are good. 3) That said, which has more weight in determining his defensive value, the 12 games of data from this season or the 19.2 PER he allowed in the 72 games last year while playing SG and 19.7 at PG? For every small-sample size stat you want to throw out there are larger samples from last year that show how bad he was at the defense end. Even this year he's fallen from almost a -7 points/100 posessions rating on defense end peak a few games ago to only a -1.6 and falling right now. He is a very talented shooter that can score in bunches, but that's about it. If they can sign him for around 10 mil or less you won't hear me complain, the problem is it sounds like he wants a fair amount more than that and that he won't be getting it from the Bulls. The thing is, Gordon had decided to accept the 55 million dollar contract the day before the deadline to accept the QO and the Bulls said no. So Gordon vastly lowered his demands and went with what the Bulls offered. They just pulled the offer. Again, the problem with the Bulls is how they negotiated Luol's contract. That's what screwed them over with Ben. Even just saying, "This is our budget for you guys, find a way to make it happen." that would have been better. Instead Luol and Ben were in the same situation and they showed favortism to Luol by just giving him a contract with no other offers on the table for him and then told Ben right after to go find an offer. That's terrible negotiating.
  7. QUOTE (lostfan @ Nov 20, 2008 -> 11:47 AM) I know I can't be the only one looking at the Titans being 10-0 and thinking they really just aren't... that... good...? Can I? I agree. I can not quite understand that one at all. I also felt this way in 2001 I think it was when they made it to the AFC Championship game and lost against Oakland.
  8. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Nov 21, 2008 -> 09:53 PM) I'm not sure it'll work for you since yours is a total brick, but me and Jenks both got our out of warranty 60GB PS3 for free using the GTA4 excuse. Only bad thing for me is though, I can't put GTAIV in there simply because Resistance 2 won't eject. I was thinking about using that excuse but gave up after an hour of trying to eject the game. $150 is still better than paying $400 for a brand new one considering at launch 60GB's were $600.
  9. Resistance 2 is fun and I love it way more than the original. I would give you my copy to borrow BearSox if my PS3 didn't brick today. So yes, as a gamer it has been such a terrible day. Wake up to find my brother trying to turn on the triple to only see it just blink and turn off. I check for myself and I get the street lights of death as I like to call it. Turn it on so it flashes green, then yellow three times and then red while beeping and while doing all these things, never turns on. I can't even eject Resistance 2 which was in there and it's going to cost $150 to get it fixed since it was a launch 60GB with a warranty that ran out. Add to the fact that my brother bought me Fallout 3 and I got invited to the Home Beta today as well, I've been mad. Oh and I had the Incredible Hulk delievered in Blu Ray as well. It's a damn shame. SMH.[/rant]
  10. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 21, 2008 -> 11:17 AM) Here is the thing about computers. Most of the companies use the same brand components. Dell uses other company's equipment and rebrands it as Dell, alot of other companies do that too. so essentially if you have a Dell laptop break and a Sony laptop break, chances are it is probably the same actual brand of harddrive or whatever that failed. Just stick with a good company with good service an you will be ok. Most really great workhorse laptops were IBM's for the last several years, although now they are Lenovo's so the jury is still out. I have one for work and its been ok. Computers are basically designed to break, the question is, wht vendor gives you the best chance to fix it. I agree, IBM is the only computer that has never failed my family.
  11. So who are your picks for the National Championship? I know it is still a little bit away and there are so many different scenarios that can play out which will stop certain teams from playing in it, but this is more about gut feeling. Who do you think will make it there and win it all?
  12. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Nov 21, 2008 -> 04:27 PM) I would think a trade of either Camby or Kaman is next, otherwise that's going to be a pain to split their minutes. Too bad the Bulls don't have a whole lot of bargaining chips anymore, Kaman would be a great fit. Kaman is next. He's owed more money and his contract won't expire in time for 2010. They've hated his production all year and they seem to like Camby as a leader and believe he will get better this season as he heals even more. I don't know why they would get rid of a younger center on a decent contract over an older guy, but it seems like they are trying to win now with Camby, Baron, and Zach.
  13. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Nov 21, 2008 -> 01:13 PM) There are so many things inaccurate in this post that it would take me quite a while to address them. However I will say there are a LOT of GM's who agree with you on Ben Gordon, which is why he will be badly overpaid this offseason and spend the next 5 years driving a different fanbase and coach crazy. I don't realistically see a way you can win a championship with Ben Gordon as your starting 2 guard with as important as that position is, but if it ever happens, I'll admit I was wrong. He's not a bad player, but he's just very overvalued by a lot of people. I backed up my statements with facts. You guys could talk baseball, but as far as basketball, just wow. I even gave you stats which are equivalents to OPS+'s for basketball and such and you choose to ignore them. You have said nothing other than LULZ, OMGZ BEN GORDON IZ SO SHORT HES THE SUX0RZ!!1!
  14. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Nov 21, 2008 -> 10:58 AM) Damn you, Zoom, for bringing reality to the thread. And damn me for bringing you out of your fantasies you want to call reality. The Bulls' Opponents PER against SG is 11.9 which is 2nd lowest on the team. Between 2nd and 3rd there is a decent gap of 1.6 and between Gordon and our bigs, 21.1 and 23.1 for PF & C respectively. Which shows the true story on how our season is. Gordon has been disrupting opposing team's SG's while Deng does a decent job and our big men are atrocious and any big men facing the Bulls is going to have a field day. I was surprised to see Rose have an opposing PER of 11.4, which indicates a huge improvement from where he was about 2 weeks ago. So yeah, the whole Gordon is terrible defensively and doesn't deserve a large contract because he's 6'2 and not 6'7 has no credibility. Give me a 6'2 basketball player over a 6'7 bum (Hughes anyone?)
  15. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Nov 20, 2008 -> 08:01 PM) Rose has the ball at all times, Gordon not so much. The shot per touch ratio for these two would show just how much more often Gordon shoots it per touch, not to mention Rose is shooting at a higher percentage than Gordon is this year. The reason the Gordon is a ballhog issue is being brought up is HE IS a ballhog. Now, the Bulls need him to shoot and need him to score so it's not horrible that he's a ballhog, but facts are facts and people have brought this issue up since the day he put a Bulls uniform on. The reasons people don't like Ben Gordon are obvious: 1. He shoots a lot (that's not my problem with him, but whatever) 2. He's a 6'2 shooting guard (that's a problem, even if you don't agree) 3. He shoots a low percentage for a guy with a scoring reputation (43 percent in his career) 4. He doesn't play defense, care about defense, or even try on defense This post shows me you do not watch much basketball. Gordon's defense is a non-issue. Skiles has said he's vastly better since his rookie year and is above average and that was before he left/was fired. Ben's an even better defender this year and he has great technique. The fact that he's 6'2 does not mean a thing. He's by far the best SG on the team and by far a top 2 player on this team and it's not even close. He's a SG. No one said he was a super duper star. He's an All-Star maybe, but no one called him Kobe. And by the way, his PER before the last 2 games was ridiculous on the season. I believe he had a PER of 24 which IIRC was better than Rose this season. And I'm pretty sure his PER is still at around Rose's level or near it. So Gordon's not only an efficient shooter, he's an efficient offensive player. Gordon's PER on the season is 19.51 including the last two games. Rose on the season has a per of 18.18.
  16. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Nov 20, 2008 -> 07:13 PM) 4 pages, and nothing from Cubano yet? WTF? Yea, what's up with that?!
  17. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Nov 20, 2008 -> 11:48 AM) That's just plain bull. People have been talking about that issue with Ben since we drafted him. And I really can't wait 'til Ben is long gone off this squad. Well that's just not smart then. I just told you why Ben isn't a ballhog this year, and considering this team was offense-deficient for the past couple of years, Ben is very very efficient. In fact, I believe for scorers over 15ppg, he ranks in the top 15 in efficiency. And this year he was in the top 5 last time I checked which was before the last two games. Even at that, his bad games have become pretty decent. For example, the Lakers game, he was still able to get his 20 points when his shot wasn't falling and he deferred more to others. If you want to talk about his defense, no SG opposite of Ben has lit him up and he's faced some mighty good ones thus far. Instead of talking about Derrick Rose's putrid game yesterday in which he was benched the 4th quarter, people are still talking about Ben Gordon? Lemme guess, he's still a rookie. So maybe people just have blind hate for Ben because he isnt' 6'7.
  18. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Nov 19, 2008 -> 10:31 PM) Outside of Rose who exactly do you want shooting the ball in place of Gordon right now? Outside of that, Gordon also has only 5 more shot attempts on the year than Rose. Keep in mind, Rose is the PG and is supposed to be distributing, while Gordon is the team's SG and is supposed to shoot. All this ballhog talk about Gordon is not valid. People just bring it up because he's in a contract year and don't think he'll resign. Rose and Gordon are the only guys worth keeping on this team.
  19. What the hell do you guys do to your laptop? In my experience and in the experience of my friends, a good 5 or 6 that I talk to on a regular basis who have one, they have never ever had problems. As far as Dell, that is by far the worst. Problems left and right, call up their customer service and you either get put on hold or talk to a guy in India. One of my best friends had a Dell, and he took care of his laptop quite nicely. Then over the course of 4 years, his hard drive failed him 3 times. 2 other times, his fan completely stopped working. Now the guy always always makes sure his computer is well-ventilated, and only used it for writing papers and occasional game playing (Roller Coaster Tycoon mostly). Dell flat out sucks. As far as Vaio's, I have a VAIO laptop and desktop computer. The desktop is about 5 years old, but still kicking strong. The laptop I got about 2 or 3 years ago. It's pretty nice, huge screen and everything. Never had any problems. The only pet peeve you may have is the battery life. Mine sucks donkey balls. I usually only get 20 or 30 minutes, even after turning the volume all the way down, dimming the screen to it's dimmest setting, and not watching any movies or listening to music or playing any games.
  20. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Nov 17, 2008 -> 12:11 PM) In my view Memphis has been one of the biggest offenders of late, they clearly have no intention of winning games any time soon. Boston in the pre-KG year was pretty bad as well, it was nice to see neither of them get the pick they wanted. They really need the lottery in the NBA a lot more than in the other sports because one bonafide superstar can have a massive impact on their win total and players tend to produce far earlier. It'd be chaos without it, just imagine what would have happened in the Lebron year or how much worse it would have been the last two seasons. On a side note, how mediocre does the 2007 draft look so far? It was theoretically supposed to be one for the ages, but Oden has barely seen the floor and will need time to shake off the rust, Durant is virtually just throwing up points in garbage time every game, and arguably the most productive player in the draft so far is a 10-9 big in Al Horford. I guess there's some pretty good depth with Young, Hawes, Chandler and Fernandez all playing well so far, but the top of the draft hasn't been as strong as expected. How is Memphis an offender? Because they traded away Pau? They made it clear what they wanted for him and got that from LA. Marc Gasol has been impressive. They suckered(though it probably didn't take much) Minnesota into taking Mike Miller and Kevin Love for OJ Mayo who is a stud in the making, they have a pretty good player in Rudy Gay, and a developing player in Darrell Arthur. I don't see how you say Memphis is trying to tank.
  21. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 14, 2008 -> 03:05 PM) I see a signing announcement this weekend for us, I really have a good hunch. I don't.
  22. I mind that we got a bunch of question marks/busts for Swisher, but I'm not surprised. Last year was terrible for him, so it's pretty much the best deal we probably could've got. Myself, personally, I would've kept Swisher and see if he could bounce back next year. Then again, KW may want to try something different this year, so we'll see.
  23. Well I personally don't like Paulie's "quiet" attitude. I loved the type of attitude OC and Swisher brought. And apparently, they had their supporters with guys like Uribe and Pierzynski dying parts of their hair and such. And they were the first guys celebrating a good play with their teammates. I think our clubhouse is way too serious and that won't change until guys like PK leave.
  24. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 13, 2008 -> 08:54 PM) Well, I guess it will be interesting to see who has more impact next season at the MLB level...Betemit, Nunez and Marquez, or Ryan Sweeney? I don't think we'll see Gio Gonzalez again as a starter again with the A's, maybe out of the bullpen. He didn't have one quality start. He did have a couple of nice outings, but his ERA reached almost 10 at one point. 6 IP, 4 ER (TOR) 5 IP, 1 ER (against TB, that's more impressive) 5 IP, 2 ER/4 R (at Seattle) But he really got his pitch count up...he just couldn't go deep into any of his starts, past 6.0 IP. Kazmir has been doing the same. Gimme a young Kazmir any day of the week.
  25. QUOTE (Wanne @ Nov 13, 2008 -> 07:56 PM) Not talking about OPS's or VORPs...I'm talking about OVERALL. Juan did an AMAZING job manning the corner the last few months. I think you're in denial about Swisher. I guess you didn't follow the thread. What's been discussed about Swisher on here. Ton's of heresay on post-PED. Off field indulgences. Coaching staff couldn't stand him. Personally I think he's somewhat of a headcase too. Nice guy...sure. But his confidence level was so pathetic it completely ruined him. So good luck with that NY... No, the sources for PED's is Soxtalk posters. There is nothing credible that links Swisher and PED's. As far as the coaching staff, they jacked him up a bit, especially Walker from what KW said. As for his off the field issues, I cannot defend that, even though I really don't know of any. I mean, I he sulked at himself when he was doing terrible, but at least he held himself accountable. I'm not a huge Swisher fan like a ton of people here, nor do I hate the guy either. But you are bringing up allegations brought forth by a message board who had their own ideas. Innocent until proven guilty. I haven't heard anything other than Soxtalk even say anything about the coaching staff hating him. They benched him when he should've been benched. I never heard anyone and I mean anyone link him to PED's besides the wonderful posters of Soxtalk. I'm not saying it isn't possible for all of this to be true, but I have a hard time believing it when the best source provided is a few guys from Soxtalk say, "He was probably on 'roids" when he was sucking and then running with that. And I also don't think Swisher will have as terrible of a year as he did. I would be shocked. As for the rest of it, I didn't like giving up Gio much less DLS and Sweeney for Swisher at all. Gio > Swisher.
