  1. Guerra sounds like a Carl Crawford type player at 2B
  2. I personally am not mad that Ozzie went with Javy. If he won, it would've gave him confidence and none of this would be relevant. He tried to go to Javy, found out it didn't work, so hopefully he shuts him down for now on.
  3. He will work as a reliever until he develops that next pitch. He desperately needs that IMO to be anything more than a reliever.
  4. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 03:59 PM) This game should go over better pitching wise, but we are gonna have to draw a lot of walks on Kazmir and hope he throws many pitches. You can't get down 0-2, but I have faith in a great game from Mark, John and Gavin the next three days. Agreed. Once you get down on Kazmir 0-2, he's very good and closing the door on you. Hopefully our offense is patient.
  5. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 03:37 PM) Sox dont pay all of Javy's contract. Yankees pay some, AZ pay some. But I dont know the exact numbers, im pretty sure that Kalapse knows them haha Wasn't that before he got his extension from the Sox?
  6. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 03:35 PM) If the Sox cant score more than 3 runs does it matter if Richard or Vaz pitched? At least with Richard he can get some confidence and save our bullpen because this was our worst match up. The next 3 games is where we have the edge. I'd say Kazmir vs Buehrle is a worse matchup. Kazmir is a lefty which means Thome is rendered useless along with AJ and probably Griffey. I wonder what Wise looks like against lefties as well. Anyway, I would've started Buehrle again on 3 days rest and leave Javy in there the 2nd game to get blasted. I honestly think whoever wins tomorrow is going to win like 2-1.
  7. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 03:33 PM) The Orioles would be a decent bet. Maybe go after Roberts with Vazquez as one of the main pieces. I'd be happy with Marvelous Melvin Mora.
  8. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 03:29 PM) The problem is with dealing Javy, he only wants to play somewhere close to the East Coast. Anyone know if he has a limited no trade clause or anything? I would trade him to the Pirates or Orioles.
  9. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 03:23 PM) Who is making excuses? All I keep saying is that people who expected Javy to play like a 1 or 2 starter because he gets paid a lot dont know s*** about baseball. Pay checks have no correlation to players ability. Thome gets paid more than Longoria, so he must be better? I have tremendous respect for you SB, but no. The example you gave is terrible too considering Thome got his contract back in like 2002 when his production was beyond excellent. Javy has never ever been a big game pitcher. Javy got his contract even after he choked in New York, but looked pretty good with Arizona.
  10. QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 03:13 PM) Why do you guys think the experts all picked the Rays? Don't blame them for being right Kinda true. I mean, I'm rooting hard for the White Sox, but there's a reason why the Rays have the homefield advantage for the round.
  11. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 02:44 PM) .860 OPS or away from Safeco though. Oh and Brian, Perez is a FA this off-season, and will get a pretty lucrative deal. If he leaves the Mets, then Vazquez to them is a definite possibility. If Vazquez actually only gave up 4ER over 6 innings here, is that a decent enough outing? At least he's given us a chance to win I guess. 4 runs over 7 is okay. 4 runs over 6 in the playoffs is usually bad. Oh and to say, at least it's game 1...24 out of 28 teams that lose game 1, lost the series for the first round.
  12. I can't support Javy for giving up the lead that quick. I'm not watching as I'm at work, but that's pretty awful on Javy's part. No more defending him. I want him gone.
  13. Why are people asking for Clayton? Bring in Floyd. What the hell is wrong with you people?
  14. Stayed for a good half hour after words. Danks piggybacking on Toby's back was hilarious! Swisher and everyone getting on the mic was great. After the double play and Anderson's catch, the place just erupted. Best moment was Thome's HR. I chanted Thome, and not Paulie.
  15. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Oct 1, 2008 -> 05:14 PM) It wasn't nearly a near perfect play, either... Griffey did a really poor job of setting himself up to throw to begin with. He was somewhat flat footed. He didn't get behind the ball well, and caught it on the glove side of his body. He then didn't throw it with a ton of momentum. It worked because it was right on line to the plate. Got a bit lucky when it just carried the mound, and it hit the very front part which allowed it to skip in pretty quickly. Without that, he's probably safe as he kills AJ before AJ can grab it. The best party of the whole play was actually AJ receiving it without f'ing it up and then holding on after getting nailed. I disagree almost completely. Only part I agree on is Griffey didn't put his whole body into the throw.
  16. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 1, 2008 -> 01:11 PM) I think that's a mistake by Maddon and company. Of course, I'm pretty sure they have Price on their roster so it's not like they'll be empty handed with studly arms. True. Honestly though, both would be bullpen arms. Edwin has been really really good this year.
  17. Can't believe they left off Edwin. I would've at least put him in the bullpen.
  18. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Oct 1, 2008 -> 09:49 AM) Fields can play 3B. With Uribe and Alexei able to play 2B/SS/3B it doesnt mean they have to take Bourgeois. I think the question is do we want Fields' threat of a HR or Bourgeois' small-ball/speed abilities. Yea, but you really can't get creative with that. If we don't take Bourgeois, we have no backup utility INF. I don't think Ozzie wants Fields starting and I really can't blame him.
  19. So do we go with a 4 or 3 man rotation?
  20. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Sep 30, 2008 -> 11:47 PM) The towels were annyoing tonight. I don't know how they looked on TV, but it was annoying to be behind. The blackout however was awesome, and needs to be done through the whole playoffs, no doubt. I loved the sign someone had "You have now entered the black hole of baseball" I love the towels actually. Whole thing was pretty awesome.
  21. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Sep 30, 2008 -> 03:37 PM) Huzzah! I looked through board preferences and couldnt find it, knew it had to be something simple but just was to frustrated. Just look at this thread. Scroll all the way at the bottom of the page, and on the left side, there is a drop down menu box that says Soxtalk Pro. Click it and you should see Soxtalk Pro Black as an option.
