Bubye Treo....
QUOTE (Steff @ Sep 27, 2008 -> 11:08 AM) I'm getting rid of the Treo. I've had tons of trouble with the battery life. So I'm in between the Curve and the IPhone. I don't give diddly squat about music. Mainly texting and email is my thing. Suggestions on one or the other... TIA. Steff I'm guessing you're using AT&T. If you're willing to leave, I would wait it out for the Blackberry Storm which is going to be coming out really soon. Touchscreen like the IPhone, professional like a Blackberry. It looks very sharp, but I think it's only for Verizon, but I'm not 100% sure.

Comcast V Directv
QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Sep 27, 2008 -> 11:54 AM) I have directv, but do not get any local HD Channel, check that barely any HD Channels. Comcast seems like more HD Friendly, no?? Nope. DirecTV I believe has the most HD channels or is just right behind Dish Network. Anyway, after having both, just in terms of cable/dish service and not their customer service, I would say Comcast barely barely gets the slight edge because it's OnDemand is further along than DirecTV's who are introducing their's barely. Other than that, the picture quality on HD and the DVR are far far better on DirecTv.

Moving into the city soon
QUOTE (almagest @ Sep 27, 2008 -> 11:13 AM) So we found a place 3 blocks west of Western, 5 blocks north of Division. Agent called it "Bucktown", Wikipedia and other places call it "Humbolt Park." The area didn't seem too dangerous -- pretty much large condo buildings all around -- but I know Humbolt is considered one of the worst areas on the Northside. Does anyone know anything about the area just west of Western? Thanks. You got the exact address of intersection?

Advice for KW Part Deux
QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 11:16 PM) Ozzie's the one who chose to play Griffey in Minnesota over Anderson. Playing Griffey over Anderson wasn't the problem. Playing everyone else in the OF over Anderson was, however.

Cleveland Indians @ Chicago White Sox - 9/26
Why is everyone saying we're only half a game behind with 4 more games to go or 3 more games to go. We have to win still any games the Twins win just to have a third game, win that game, and then beat the Twins. So say the Twins win just two more games, we have to win 4 to still make the playoffs. I don't think some people at Soxtalk get that.

Minny game doesn't matter since we're crapping, but Olivo had a passball/wild pitch, recovered and threw Delmon Young out at the plate.

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 07:40 PM) PULL MACDOUGAL! It's obvious he doesn't have it either tonight. Who are we going to pull him for? AJ has been bad at calling the game it seems and none of our pitchers are working. All of our pitchers have sucked.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 07:38 PM) He is a bad pitcher who happened to catch lightning in a bottle for a couple months. That's the truth. He's never been good in his career. We got lucky he was good for as much as he was this year.

We would've been better served to let Danks crap the bed.

Game over. Anyone still optimistic? Hopefully fans are booing.

QUOTE (letsgoarow @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 07:30 PM) Buehrle? Not all that great in big games, especially against good offense for the most part. He does know how to take care of business against garbage teams though it seems. This sucks though. I thought Danks wouldn't be phased as he's too young to know what being afraid is. Figures, I was wrong.

Well 6-0 KC, Billy Butler with a two run jack.

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 07:29 PM) AJP sure seems afraid of contact at the plate, which is why he's always just a foot too far up when he catches it. Very true. I've never seen him block the plate once since he's been here. Regardless, Carrasco is coming in. We have conceded it looks like.

QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 07:25 PM) not according to cooper, he said they're available I'd imagine Thornton especially. He didn't throw THAT many pitches last night. Jenks is probably only available for an inning.

QUOTE (zenryan @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 06:52 PM) why do people keep saying we need all 3? match the Twins and beat Detroit and then play for the division on tuesday. I don't know. People think facing Detroit would be a cakewalk and assume that's a win.

QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 06:49 PM) I posted here last night that I doubt the Twins would sweep KC,just because they own us up there doesn t mean they own everybody... The thing is, if KC pulls out one, we still need all 3. That's where my doubt lies. I don't think it would be impossible for KC to win just one. These are not the same Royals teams of '03.

Another problem with the Sox, solo jacks. We needs HR's with men on.

Cabrera Rips Teammates
QUOTE (CarlosMartinez @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 05:40 PM) But you can't have an entire team of guys with that approach. Good teams have an even mix of guys who lead by example and guys who will chew a teamates ass when necessary. Right now we have too many "lead by example" guys and their example has been bad. JD has been a shell of himself for over a month, PK had a good couple of weeks all season and Thome is Thome, whether thats a good thing or bad. We have two guys right now making noise, AJ who has earned that right with the Sox but his production has been down and OC who hasn't fit in with this team since day one. Maybe if he didn't make the season all about "OC" then his teamates and fans wouldn't be upset with him telling everyone whats wrong with the team. Well exactly. For every OC you need like 3 or 4 Manny type players who could do it based on pure skill. Heck, we had Quentin do that. Always quiet, but he takes care of business. No one else on our team does that for the most part. PK is hugely overrated which is why I didn't even like his contract at the time. He doesn't lead, period. Dye has never been a leader, just a good guy. Thome is another good guy, but took care of business for the most part. You need a mix or else people start taking things the wrong way. Right now, all we have is Orlando calling out the team for performance and mentality. We need a couple more people like that.

Cabrera Rips Teammates
QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 05:13 PM) First off, Dye didn't call the fans ignorant. Second, read these boards for a while, and you can understand where that thought would come from, even if he didn't say it. This whole topic is totally ignorant. There are posts in here talking about shipping both Dye and Konerko away, but keeping Cabrera, because Cabrera is a "leader". Really? So because all you see is a guy talking to the media, instead of keeping it in the clubhouse, he is a leader? Because Dye and Konerko don't whore themselves out to the media, and keep things "in house", they aren't "leaders"? Bulls***. Problem is, Cabrera is a gamer and none of the guys that you just listed are. There are way way more guys that have the same attitude that Javy has, but yet Javy is the one who gets the flack for it. Everyone else does not. Cabrera doesn't have to stay, but I like his attitude currently. I want people who expect to win and are dying to go all out. Guys who are not afraid to pitch inside or flat out attack instead of nibbling. I want the AJ that supposedly nailed a coach in the nuts in SF. I want Carl Everett's approach.

QUOTE (santo=dorf @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 05:10 PM) blah, blah, blah. Just like how you "freaking loved" Erstad, I can never take your opinion seriously on ex or current Angel players. Sorry. I didn't like Erstad all that much either, but Erstad could have been a valuable bench player. Problem is, we used him as a starter in which he never should of been.
