  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 07:40 PM) PULL MACDOUGAL! It's obvious he doesn't have it either tonight. Who are we going to pull him for? AJ has been bad at calling the game it seems and none of our pitchers are working. All of our pitchers have sucked.
  2. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 07:38 PM) He is a bad pitcher who happened to catch lightning in a bottle for a couple months. That's the truth. He's never been good in his career. We got lucky he was good for as much as he was this year.
  3. Game over. Anyone still optimistic? Hopefully fans are booing.
  4. QUOTE (letsgoarow @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 07:30 PM) Buehrle? Not all that great in big games, especially against good offense for the most part. He does know how to take care of business against garbage teams though it seems. This sucks though. I thought Danks wouldn't be phased as he's too young to know what being afraid is. Figures, I was wrong.
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 07:29 PM) AJP sure seems afraid of contact at the plate, which is why he's always just a foot too far up when he catches it. Very true. I've never seen him block the plate once since he's been here. Regardless, Carrasco is coming in. We have conceded it looks like.
  6. QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 07:25 PM) not according to cooper, he said they're available I'd imagine Thornton especially. He didn't throw THAT many pitches last night. Jenks is probably only available for an inning.
  7. MOW EM DOWN DAMMIT! And yes, last night was pretty good. Only bad thing is my internet connection crapped out.
  8. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 06:59 PM) i won't hold anderson's weak ass at bats against him if he shows up on D Neither will I. I want him in for the defense.
  9. QUOTE (zenryan @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 06:52 PM) why do people keep saying we need all 3? match the Twins and beat Detroit and then play for the division on tuesday. I don't know. People think facing Detroit would be a cakewalk and assume that's a win.
  10. QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 06:49 PM) That Ryan Shealy for KC could be a stud. He has a lot of power. Same with Billy Butler.
  11. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 06:49 PM) I posted here last night that I doubt the Twins would sweep KC,just because they own us up there doesn t mean they own everybody... The thing is, if KC pulls out one, we still need all 3. That's where my doubt lies. I don't think it would be impossible for KC to win just one. These are not the same Royals teams of '03.
  12. Another problem with the Sox, solo jacks. We needs HR's with men on.
  13. QUOTE (CarlosMartinez @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 05:40 PM) But you can't have an entire team of guys with that approach. Good teams have an even mix of guys who lead by example and guys who will chew a teamates ass when necessary. Right now we have too many "lead by example" guys and their example has been bad. JD has been a shell of himself for over a month, PK had a good couple of weeks all season and Thome is Thome, whether thats a good thing or bad. We have two guys right now making noise, AJ who has earned that right with the Sox but his production has been down and OC who hasn't fit in with this team since day one. Maybe if he didn't make the season all about "OC" then his teamates and fans wouldn't be upset with him telling everyone whats wrong with the team. Well exactly. For every OC you need like 3 or 4 Manny type players who could do it based on pure skill. Heck, we had Quentin do that. Always quiet, but he takes care of business. No one else on our team does that for the most part. PK is hugely overrated which is why I didn't even like his contract at the time. He doesn't lead, period. Dye has never been a leader, just a good guy. Thome is another good guy, but took care of business for the most part. You need a mix or else people start taking things the wrong way. Right now, all we have is Orlando calling out the team for performance and mentality. We need a couple more people like that.
  14. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 05:13 PM) First off, Dye didn't call the fans ignorant. Second, read these boards for a while, and you can understand where that thought would come from, even if he didn't say it. This whole topic is totally ignorant. There are posts in here talking about shipping both Dye and Konerko away, but keeping Cabrera, because Cabrera is a "leader". Really? So because all you see is a guy talking to the media, instead of keeping it in the clubhouse, he is a leader? Because Dye and Konerko don't whore themselves out to the media, and keep things "in house", they aren't "leaders"? Bulls***. Problem is, Cabrera is a gamer and none of the guys that you just listed are. There are way way more guys that have the same attitude that Javy has, but yet Javy is the one who gets the flack for it. Everyone else does not. Cabrera doesn't have to stay, but I like his attitude currently. I want people who expect to win and are dying to go all out. Guys who are not afraid to pitch inside or flat out attack instead of nibbling. I want the AJ that supposedly nailed a coach in the nuts in SF. I want Carl Everett's approach.
  15. QUOTE (santo=dorf @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 05:10 PM) blah, blah, blah. Just like how you "freaking loved" Erstad, I can never take your opinion seriously on ex or current Angel players. Sorry. I didn't like Erstad all that much either, but Erstad could have been a valuable bench player. Problem is, we used him as a starter in which he never should of been.
  16. QUOTE (quickman @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 05:08 PM) I do actaully agree with you on much of this, but why in the world would you trust the people pulling the strings to start this thing over again? Why do the sox not pitch inside? why don't they get gamers to brush people back? Kubel and Gomez should have been knocked on there asses. We have a bunch of pussies running the game and squad and they certianly bark alot in the papers but don't play with much heart. You see I think that is exactly what OC was saying. Where is the KILL. Go out and kill them. Scratch claw, bite swear, kick and scream, just kill them. I do agree with that. No one on this team is playing with the confidence of, "we're going to go in, win this game, and kick their butts in the process".
  17. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 05:03 PM) Mike Sweeney is another good example. They tried to force him to be the captain and the face of the Royals, but he always resisted. Of course, he was great with the fans, always signed autographs...but Muser once said, sometimes we need LEADERS. "Chewing on cookies and eating milk and praying is not going to get it done," former Royals manager Tony Muser said. "I'd like them to go out and pound tequila … " Part of this was due to Sweeney's overt Christianity, but the essence was that being a nice guy alone and even being loved by the fans wasn't enough. Of course, the examples of Everett and Rowand will always be cited here, and juxtaposed with "nice guys" like Jermaine, Thome, Konerko...but for whatever reason, and maybe you can attribute it to AJ's attitude as well...we just don't have that killer instinct anymore, Ozzie is losing ground year by year in the clubhouse with these same players. They really need to start over again with some fresh blood and revitalize with even more youth, without tremendously overpaying. And that's hard to due, because we don't have many prospects left to trade and many spare parts on our major league roster that can be taken out. It's going to be one of those head-scratching, Pods/Carlos Lee "addition by subtraction" moves I think. We can part ways with Cabrera and Vazquez, but it will take a bigger cut to really change the overall mentality of this team/organization. Bingo. It's the mentality that needs a change. On paper, certainly we have a team that I think is World Series worthy. But the mentality that these players have minus an Orlando Cabrera and sometimes AJ, it sucks. I think being around the other guys really has rubbed on AJ rather than the reverse effect that I would prefer happen. That's why Carl was valuable. That's why Rowand was valuable. People may have called them crazy, but they weren't afraid to say anything. Now all we have is Orlando and everyone else is basically telling him to STFU.
  18. QUOTE (Wanne @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 04:58 PM) I'd rather have guys like Cabrera too...ANY day of the week. I for one would bring him back next year and shop Konerko AND Dye. Did Dye really call the fans ignorant? That just pisses me off. Hey JD...please explain why you've had your head up your ass the entire month of September...maybe I'm just ignorant.
  19. QUOTE (griffey17 @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 04:21 PM) i think the one game playoff would be a day game as well.... Possibly. Wasn't the Colorado/San Diego game last year a night game?
  20. I don't fault Cabrera at all. I too wonder where has our "so-called" leader gone in Paul Konerko? I've thought he was overrated for awhile. Well before 2005, but fans seem to love him. He really does not lead or say anything. Just because he's a nice guy does not make him a leader. I rather have more guys like Cabrera who seem to at least give a damn instead of guys like Dye who are calling fans ignorant.
  21. They should trade a CB if someone is willing to overpay for them. Their CB's and S's absolutely are brutal.
