Cabrera Rips Teammates
QUOTE (quickman @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 05:08 PM) I do actaully agree with you on much of this, but why in the world would you trust the people pulling the strings to start this thing over again? Why do the sox not pitch inside? why don't they get gamers to brush people back? Kubel and Gomez should have been knocked on there asses. We have a bunch of pussies running the game and squad and they certianly bark alot in the papers but don't play with much heart. You see I think that is exactly what OC was saying. Where is the KILL. Go out and kill them. Scratch claw, bite swear, kick and scream, just kill them. I do agree with that. No one on this team is playing with the confidence of, "we're going to go in, win this game, and kick their butts in the process".

Cabrera Rips Teammates
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 05:03 PM) Mike Sweeney is another good example. They tried to force him to be the captain and the face of the Royals, but he always resisted. Of course, he was great with the fans, always signed autographs...but Muser once said, sometimes we need LEADERS. "Chewing on cookies and eating milk and praying is not going to get it done," former Royals manager Tony Muser said. "I'd like them to go out and pound tequila … " Part of this was due to Sweeney's overt Christianity, but the essence was that being a nice guy alone and even being loved by the fans wasn't enough. Of course, the examples of Everett and Rowand will always be cited here, and juxtaposed with "nice guys" like Jermaine, Thome, Konerko...but for whatever reason, and maybe you can attribute it to AJ's attitude as well...we just don't have that killer instinct anymore, Ozzie is losing ground year by year in the clubhouse with these same players. They really need to start over again with some fresh blood and revitalize with even more youth, without tremendously overpaying. And that's hard to due, because we don't have many prospects left to trade and many spare parts on our major league roster that can be taken out. It's going to be one of those head-scratching, Pods/Carlos Lee "addition by subtraction" moves I think. We can part ways with Cabrera and Vazquez, but it will take a bigger cut to really change the overall mentality of this team/organization. Bingo. It's the mentality that needs a change. On paper, certainly we have a team that I think is World Series worthy. But the mentality that these players have minus an Orlando Cabrera and sometimes AJ, it sucks. I think being around the other guys really has rubbed on AJ rather than the reverse effect that I would prefer happen. That's why Carl was valuable. That's why Rowand was valuable. People may have called them crazy, but they weren't afraid to say anything. Now all we have is Orlando and everyone else is basically telling him to STFU.

QUOTE (Wanne @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 04:58 PM) I'd rather have guys like Cabrera too...ANY day of the week. I for one would bring him back next year and shop Konerko AND Dye. Did Dye really call the fans ignorant? That just pisses me off. Hey JD...please explain why you've had your head up your ass the entire month of September...maybe I'm just ignorant.

WHITE SOX ANNOUNCE DETAILS FOR POTENTIAL MAKEUP GAME
QUOTE (griffey17 @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 04:21 PM) i think the one game playoff would be a day game as well.... Possibly. Wasn't the Colorado/San Diego game last year a night game?

I don't fault Cabrera at all. I too wonder where has our "so-called" leader gone in Paul Konerko? I've thought he was overrated for awhile. Well before 2005, but fans seem to love him. He really does not lead or say anything. Just because he's a nice guy does not make him a leader. I rather have more guys like Cabrera who seem to at least give a damn instead of guys like Dye who are calling fans ignorant.

Anyone got the complete lineup?

Official 2008-2009 NFL Thread
They should trade a CB if someone is willing to overpay for them. Their CB's and S's absolutely are brutal.

QUOTE (letsgoarow @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 02:37 PM) i think a new rule should be if you say the season is over when its not you should be suspended....all we have to do is win at home When was the last time we won 3 games in a row? How about swept a series?

QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 10:59 AM) and Lee isn't pitching fo the Indians Here is the line-up I would throw out there for all four (hopefully 3) games and say get it done you are all veterans Swisher-Cabrera-Thome-Dye-Griffey-Konerko-Ramirez -AJ-Uribe Bullpen for all three games Dotel - Thorton - Linebrink - Jenks, that's it. I would do it too, but we all know Ozzie won't.

KW crying? Maybe he will finally do something!!!
And so much for not going to the Metrodome anymore. Kenny ended up going to all 3 games.

Moving into the city soon
QUOTE (almagest @ Sep 25, 2008 -> 02:31 PM) I have. A friend of mine lives in Portage Park, which is right by there. He complains constantly about how awful the Blue Line is, though, which is one of the reasons I haven't looked at much around there. Blue line is awful. Constant construction on it to remove "slow zones" which in reality was supposed to be done last year.

Royals at Twins 7:10
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 10:23 AM) Lets Go KC!!!! they are fighting for 4th place, 1/2 game up on the Tigers...gotta stay out of the cellar and show some improvement Royals! Go Royals.

Cleveland Indians @ Chicago White Sox - 9/26
QUOTE (hawksox13 @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 09:53 AM) Some of you guys are unbelievable! The Sox and Twins are TIED in the loss column. How can anybody say these games don't matter. If the Sox win these next four home games, where by the way, they win 70% of the time, they will win this division. I don't see the Twins sweeping the Royals. I think Greinke will shut them down. Yeah the last three days sucked, yeah the Sox didn't show much, but the upcoming series is huge. Fans need to show up and cheer for their team. But b1tching on message boards and feeling sorry for yourself isn't going to do anything. Go Sox! Greinke isn't pitching against the Twins.

The CHOKE of 2008
QUOTE (Nokona @ Sep 25, 2008 -> 09:35 PM) You, sir, are retarded. Not really. Yes, he's been a good bullpen arm, but he is far from dominant, he allows runners on a lot, and he has turned into a bit of a nibbler. And let's face it, the only reason he doesn't throw 101mph anymore is because he can't, not because he doesn't want to.

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 25, 2008 -> 09:33 PM) Well, this is the worst, most inaccurate title of a game thread in history. Close this thread, and let's start the game thread in a few hours with more positivity. Heck no. Everyone else got to make their thread. This is mine. And I have a winning record making threads. Change the title if you want mods.

The CHOKE of 2008
The worst part is, the Twins, before the series, were playing as bad as the Royals or Pirates. SMH. It looks like Orlando and Griffey came to play. Swisher really didn't have a shot. Jenks needs to be traded because this whole control bulls*** isn't for him. He's worthless without his 101mph heater.

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 25, 2008 -> 08:52 PM) That's the biggest load of s*** ever about Jenks. He's lost 4 mph on his fastball, and has fallen apart during the 2nd half in 2 of the last 3 seasons. I know and that's what I said when I first heard that stupid s***.
-
**White Sox vs. Twins 9/25/08 Thread**
So much for being able to still throw 100mph when he needs to.

**White Sox vs. Twins 9/25/08 Thread**
I'm telling you, Griffey has been very valuable this series. Wise has been awful.
-
**White Sox vs. Twins 9/25/08 Thread**
BA should be in left. Wise should not be playing. That, or play your best offensive lineup and put Swisher in there because he's your best threat.

QUOTE (HeGone33 @ Sep 25, 2008 -> 08:59 PM) Jenks 7,8,9 or Danks.............Fuc* it! Honestly, I'd throw a starter out there. f*** it, throw Javy for an inning or two.

He said nothing wrong. I hope he's back next year.

I'm going out on a limb....
This team needs Carl Everett. Whether you liked him or not, the players respected him and he would rally the troops. We can't let this s*** go any farther. Sadly, if we do beat them 15-2, it doesn't make up for other losses. I mean, we still must go to Cleveland too.
