  1. Gio hit his spot with that last pitch. The playcalling behind that plate is pretty bad.
  2. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Aug 17, 2008 -> 01:53 PM) Well he is young and you really didn't get to see his curve and changeup which is plus-plus pitch and a plus-pitch, respectively. If he gets ahead in the count, he can be dominant. But his control will always keep him from being an ACE. But I don't think people on here thought he was an ACE, just a very good top of the rotation guy (a John Danks type, not Halliday). I was always high on him, but now I think he is a middle of the rotation guy. That's pretty much what I saw him as with a bit more K's.
  3. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Aug 17, 2008 -> 12:49 PM) Just be tied with the Twins after our Seattle series and I will feel very good. After that the Twinkles have the biggest road trip I have ever seen. But seriously, how pissed will people be if we go out and lay an egg against Seattle after Minny sweeps them? Well I'm more pissed now considering Oakland won 4 of their last 27 and we didn't sweep them.
  4. QUOTE (SleepyWhiteSox @ Aug 16, 2008 -> 09:31 PM) You put ketchup on your hot dogs too, don't you? Hell the f*** no! Grilled Onions and mustard.
  5. QUOTE (SleepyWhiteSox @ Aug 16, 2008 -> 03:04 PM) Yes, but in terms of taquerias, that's 5-star fine dining right there. There are many s***tier taquerias (the locations, not necessarily the food) out there. There's another Zacatacos location too, although I can't recall where. Very good tacos. And I saw the sign for that downtown location too. I just doubt the prices will be the same. 59th and Pulaski and 71st and Pulaski across the street from Dominick's. Honestly, I can't say I'm a fan. I literally could make those tacos at home exactly the way they make them(I know this because I've done it several times before) for a way cheaper price. And I'll add cheese on mine because it's sooooooo much better with cheese.
  6. I currently don't have any cable at my mom's house and it sucks. So being the good son that I am, I want to get cable for my mom and so I could watch Sox games when I visit. With that said, the only cable company I know of is Comcast and ATT U-Verse. The thing is, U-verse is not in my area and I have no idea when they will be. I've had Comcast before(within the past 3 months) and they are godawful. I absolutely don't want them at all. They're not an option. Now I know people are going to suggest satellite. I have DirecTV at my apartment and for the most part, love it. Thing is, my mom doesn't want a dish on her house and especially doesn't want any new holes drilled which we were told there would have to be. With that said, can anybody recommend me some cable companies? My area code is 60643
  7. QUOTE (joejoedairy @ Aug 16, 2008 -> 02:20 PM) Then stop calling it and he wont give up any homers. Use your powers for good When tell him to stop giving them up and then I won't have anything to call!
  8. QUOTE (Jake @ Aug 16, 2008 -> 01:03 PM) You have to remember that two of Thornton's runs came at the beginning of his fourth consecutive inning against Detroit, and I really don't hold him accountable for what happens after he's left out there that long. Yes, Thornton always seemed like a one/two inning max guy.
  9. I just wonder who's going to be the new whipping boy for Bulls fans now that Gordon isn't coming back. I say it will be Tyrus is no time.
  10. QUOTE (JFields27 @ Aug 16, 2008 -> 12:44 PM) you got to love the well timed guess! congrats! hah It's not a guess though somehow. It always happens when I call it. It's never happened with any other pitcher or any other sport or anything. For some reason, I can tell when Dotel is about to give up a jack. It kind of freaks me out when I think of it. My roommate thinks it's cool. And my gf thinks I'm a weirdo for it.
  11. I actually felt it as soon as Dotel came in. I honestly have predicted when and to who he gives up the HR to and what pitch everytime he comes in this year when I have a chance to watch them. Last night was no different. I was watching the game with my gf and was trying to teach her the basics of baseball and Sox players. I said, "This guy Dotel, he was good, messed up his arm, still thinks he has lightning in it and he gets hit at the most inopportune moments." She said, "Wow, way to be positive about him." Then I explained to her one of my roommates and a bunch of Sox fans in the LF bleachers said the same right before I predicted he would choke when he was coming in against the Yankees. So she's like, "Yeah right, you're stubborn and think you're right. You probably never liked him." I replied as to how I loved him ever since he helped in that no hitter against the Mets I believe when he was with Houston. She wanted me to predict him giving up a HR tonight and by who. I shocked her when I said 2 because it would be enough to tie the game since we were up. I said, "This guy" when the first HR was popped. Then when the second was popped, I called it again and said, "HR, this pitch, watch". So now she's kind of scared of me because she thinks I'm psychotic and there's no way I could have known that. When it comes to Dotel, I know.
  12. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Aug 15, 2008 -> 06:02 AM) But you are assuming all other football players are nice guys and Urlacher is not because you have a buddy who didnt get a tip. To be honest, this is the first I have ever heard of Urlacher being a "Im better than you" non tipping jerk. Urlacher had private text messages put in the sun times by his kids mom because she is trying to get money from him and make everythign difficult for him. And he takes the high road everytime and doesnt talk about any of the crap she pulls (like not dropping the kid off where she was supposed to, which is what set him off in those text messages), he just lets the court handle it. Urlacher very well may be a private person who doesnt like his life exposed the way it has been, which makes him seem like a jerk. But I dont know the guy, and I am certainly not going to put him in Briggs boat because he made a bad choice and went without a condom It isn't based off of one friend. This is based off my experiences around him and friends who have been around him as well. I'll drop it though. There's no convincing Bears fans that Urlacher is nothing but a stand up, awesome, fun guy.
  13. I loved the California Cool attitude. I would have him Top 5 on my list if I knew about lists.
  14. West Coast hasn't been favorable to us before, but that was before Swisher. We got a few guys on their team against us, but we won't see Sweeney as he's on the DL. Regardless, Oakland hasn't been playing at the level they were. Floyd will be playing in a spacious ballpark, so it's time to take advantage. Part one is tonight against the lefty. RIP'EM AND HAVE SOME BOOS AND SWISHER'S HOUSE!
  15. Overrated. I think he'll turn out like Sweeney who wasn't good enough for the Sox apparently. I mean, I like Danks, but I just don't see him being as good as everyone projects which is better than Ryan.
  16. QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 14, 2008 -> 08:21 AM) pfft. This is his own personal business. Frankly, we don't know what his baby's mother acts like, but from the bits and pieces I've gathered, I know enough to draw some tentative conclusions. Sounds like a perfect case of not acting like you deserve respect. And what about the way he speaks to people, sometimes in his own circle? I guess he's the golden boy of the football team though.
  17. That's how you handle business.
  18. He's a Top Tenner for sure. I loved his frisbee. I don't know why all of a sudden, he stopped throwing inside because as soon as he did that, it was over for him. Regardless, a lovable guy. I really hope they gave him a ring in 2005.
  19. Basically, Garland is Batman. Buehrle is Robin. By far one of the most underappreciated players ever.
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 14, 2008 -> 09:41 AM) A day game after a night game, and right before a long flight to Oakland is not a bad time to rest a catcher who plays everyday. Yes it is when the backup is Toby Hall. Hell, put Konerko back there, Swisher at 1B, Griffey in CF and let the good times roll.
  21. Bart Colon and David Wells would always stick out in my eyes. Boomer was cool and I was fine with his personality, but the fact that he kept getting injured in a year we were supposed to compete for a title just made me shake my head. Bart was an ok guy, but everyone made it seem like he would be a Cy Young award winner for sure. That's what I was expecting, but to me he was just a solid starter.
  22. QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Aug 14, 2008 -> 10:30 AM) OC, SS; Griff, CF; Q, LF; Dye, RF; Thome, DH; PK, 1B; Miss, 2B; Uribe, 3B; Hall, C. Broadway pitching. Hall catching with Broadway pitching? I don't know if I like that.
  23. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 14, 2008 -> 08:58 AM) They really hate Renteria in DET, almost as much as they have turned on Leyland, Sheffield and Doug Jones. It would be ironic if we replaced one Colombian for another, being that they are the only two players from their country, and they basically had a falling out and hate each other now (wonder if that was also over a call to the box reversing an error on Cabrera and taking away a single from Edgar???) I just read the article. The author reached the obvious conclusion that Ordonez (at 34) is their most marketable/tradeable player at this point...and, also, that if he stays healthy, they will have his $15 million dollar options vest in 2010 and 2011 when his contract takes a turn for the Alphonso Soriano universe (due to Magglio's age and weight/body type/injury issues). They do have to wait until Porcello and Ryan and some of their other pitchers mature. Luckily, Andrew Miller and J. Jurrgens were traded out of the division, so we can still deal with Robertson, Verlander and Bonderman. Maybe the White Sox will take a shot at Kenny Rogers? We passed him (a lot of teams did) in 2003 and then again when he came to DET, and he made remarkable comebacks, although this will undoubtedly be his last. For the Tigers to become competitive again, they really need for Dontrelle Willis to get his head screwed on straight...otherwise, they will have to dump Miguel Cabrera or Ordonez and completely rebuild. I don't see Kenny Rogers coming to the Sox.
  24. Anyone know what Felix Diaz is doing these days? I always liked him for whatever reason.
