Where are all you Erstad haters now?

Has anyone else notice Sandy Alomar in our dugout?
Mark Johnson cuts down my trees, last week though, he swung and missed and ended up cutting his leg though.

MARK BUEHRLE HAS PITCHED A NO-HITTER!
Hopefully this gets him back to his old self. Working fast and moving all over the zone.

Fire Greg Walker
QUOTE(caulfield12 @ Apr 18, 2007 -> 08:30 AM) http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/stats?playerId=3948 His pitches per plate appearance numbers have actually improved over his time with Minnesota and SF, especially in 2005. He's been trending backwards the last 7 months. His career average is 3.29 3.56 in 2005, 3.36 in 2006 and down to 3.29 so far this year. He just SEEMED more pesky (along with Mientkiewicz, Koskie, Hocking, LeCroy, Guzman, Rivas) because of when he got the hits to give them one or two run victories over us. Well the thing is, he used to hit for a high average. Now it's lift and pull with him along with the other players and that's what sucks.

Fire Greg Walker
Scouting and the instructors are a big part of why this team is the way it is. Our scouts, especially the Latin American and Amateur scouts suck pure ass. Our hitting coach blows big time, and Ozzie seems to play favorites.

I've been with SSI on this one for awhile, I'm suprised neither of us started the thread.

Opening Day: White Sox vs. Indians, 4/2/07 (L)
QUOTE(kapkomet @ Apr 2, 2007 -> 04:18 PM) Anyone want to bet that JC is on the disabled list before the end of April? How much?

I wish Ozzie would go on a tirade right now, but he won't.

Iguchi's Swing
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Apr 2, 2007 -> 04:00 PM) This is what our staff tries to do with most of our hitters. Turn them into monolithic pull power monsters. Pulling outside breaking pitches, not working counts. Bad situational hitting. This is why low and away is hard for our team to handle. Pretty much. It doesn't take Steve Stone to see what me and SSI71 have been saying about Greg Walker. He's a terrible hitting coach.

Wow, that was an asskicking.

Interesting Philly article on Garcia, many quotes
It's hilarious when they say they think his velocity will increase just like everyone elses. It will increase a little bit, but not by much. He won't be around 91 like they expect him to be. And that's terrible considering he was a mid 90's guy.

QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Apr 1, 2007 -> 10:21 PM) Put Anderson in CF and move Iguchi to the 2nd spot and I am happy. Like other posters have mentioned, do not pitch to Hafner. Martinez is a good hitter, so is Sizemore, but Hafner is an elite hitter. Pitch around him, he clogs the base paths and always seems to kill us when he hits. Unless you are left-handed, you shall not give Travis Hafner a pitch near the srtike zone. Well it's the official one, so unfortunately for us, that's how it goes.

Opening Day Lineup: LF-Ozuna CF-Erstad DH-Thome 1B-Konerko RF-Dye 3B-Crede 2B-Iguchi C-Pierzynski SS-Uribe Not too shabby.

New Grass Pattern Cut This Year
QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Apr 1, 2007 -> 08:49 PM) It won't look a thing like KC. WE have green seats, thank you very much. Exactly, green seats are good for at least 5 more wins.

Scott Miller of cbssportline also picks Sox 4th
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 30, 2007 -> 10:59 PM) Nearly taking the Division from the Sox in 05 and barely missing the playoffs is hardly falling flat on their faces. In 06, the Tribe had the best run differential of any team to lose that # of games in MLB history. The odds of them performing that poorly while being that good again are so incredible it's hard to calculate. The Tribe got awfully unlucky last year, in no small part thanks to the way their pitching was set up. With another year under their belts and some major defensive upgrades...that team could really pull off a huge improvement this year, depending on injuries. Bingo. At the beginning of ST, I had them finishing 2nd behind us. Now, I have them finishing 1st ahead of Detroit and us.

what place will the sox finish in?
3rd

Who's your choice...
QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Mar 29, 2007 -> 04:09 PM) So when your kids play soccer (if you have any) do you not keep score and call everyone a winner? Exactly. Actually, I'm just teasing everyone who picks multiple people for each category. It's a pet peeve of mine.
-
Who's your choice...
If we get to pick multiple: Batting: Podsednik, Erstad, Dye, Konerko, Thome, Crede, Pierzynski, Iguchi, Uribe Pitching: Contreras, Garland, Buehrle, Vazquez, Danks Out of the Pen: Sisco, Aardsma, MacDougal, Masset, Thornton, Jenks,

DirecTv HD
QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Mar 28, 2007 -> 04:18 PM) And in case anyone forgot, February 17, 2009 is the national deadline for all broadcasts to be converted to HD. Not HD, digital. And yes, there's a difference.

Who's your choice...
Crede, period.

An optimistic viewpoint
I'm sorry, I stopped reading when you said Tad Iguchi is replaceable and Buehrle isn't. Right now, it seems like the exact opposite. We have guys in the minors who could somewhat replace Buehrle. We have no one and there's no one in FA who is going to be as good as Iguchi.

Sisco and Aardsma Complete Bullpen
QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Mar 29, 2007 -> 12:30 AM) Johan learned the changeup from the AAA pitching coach. He worked on the pitch in AAA, I don't know who he learned it from, but the Twins' pitching coach told him to develop that or a breaking pitch. So he goes to AAA and learns a change. It's basically the same idea the Sox are going to do with Sisco. At least, I hope that's the reason why.
-
Sisco and Aardsma Complete Bullpen
I just want to say I think the Sox are going to handle Sisco the way Minny handled Johan. They feel it's best for him to stay with Coop for now to work on somethings. He will be sent down either this year or all of next year to then work on what Cooper wants fixed with him and he'll be doing that as a starter. In other words, expected time of actual contribution for Sisco is about 2 years from now if you ask me. At least this is the only way I could explain it.

Here's a surprise, Downey picks Cubs and Sox 4th
I shall agree to an extent without even reading the article. I won't say 4th in the division, more like 3rd. Our pitching has looked poopy overall still, hitting's pretty good, but Pods and Erstad as a 1-2 against any pitcher doesn't bode well.

McRoberts goes for NBA draft
QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Mar 27, 2007 -> 02:33 PM) I've heard he wasn't exactly a teammate favorite and they weren't all that sad to see him go, even without a legit replacement on the roster. If I were Josh, I wouldn't be too concerned about anyone at Duke liking him that's on that roster. Paulus has been crap, Scheyer so far was nothing and Nelson was pretty garbage.
