QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 22, 2007 -> 03:30 PM) I think it's interesting that Hawk used a very peculiar voice when he told Sox fans to not be surprised by anything they do. FWIW, I heard something yesterday that we might be surprised at who the first Sox starter traded is. Hopefully it's Buehrle.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 22, 2007 -> 03:24 PM) Just DFA him already. But he's a grinder!

Milton Bradley DFA'ed by A's

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 22, 2007 -> 08:51 AM) Carl Everett is a saint compared to Milton Bradley. The last thing we need to add to this team is someone that can't stay healthy for more than a month. Everett was a great team player and he helped clubhouse morale, though alot of people wouldn't like to acknowledge it. -
QUOTE(Brian @ Jun 22, 2007 -> 08:50 AM) I agree that Vince is a horrible PE but thank God it's a TV SHOW! Can't believe nobody else mentioned Rubenstein's cocaine story about why there is no more money. That was hilarious, especially when they showed the "amateur video"

QUOTE(DonnyDevito @ Jun 9, 2007 -> 01:40 PM) i'm twisted on this issue. AJ shows emotion, which our team needs but he does some stupid things like call out Ozzie and Toby Hall through the media. since buehrle and aj got into it, we've sucked goat balls. When did they get into it and about what??

QUOTE(BearSox @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 04:49 PM) He reminds me of ANdrew Sisco, but thats just me. He's the size of Andrew Sisco, but he reminds me of MacDougal of Aardsma. A reliever nonetheless.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 04:46 PM) Sucks that Jackson got taken. Sounded like a damn solid SS prospect which we could desperately use, but it wasn't worth reaching for him at 25. I don't think he would've been a reach. Anything around 18 or below would've been a great slot for him IMHO. Everyone I wanted though will be taken LOL at Shannon Stewart. STEAL!

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 04:31 PM) What's the more annoying argument: - if you know so much, then why aren't you managing in the majors? or - if you think such and such team is so good, then why don't you become a fan of that team? Both are terribly crappy considering we're pissed because we care for this team. You think we're pissed about what the Giants are doing? I'm not because I don't give a hoot about them. I care for the White Sox and about our GM putting them in the best position to succeed on all accounts.
-
QUOTE(29thandPoplar @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 03:57 PM) If the SS is still there, Jackson, they will take him is my guess. What pick do we have in this round? I'd love Jackson or Borbon or Burgess, but Burgess should go quick.

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 03:53 PM) hmmmm... one plus pitch four plus pitches??? gee, which one has more upside? Obviously the one with only 1 pitch.
-
QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 03:47 PM) And it's not like the Tigers are so much more f***ing wealthy than the Sox. That's my point. This team continues to draft a mediocre team.

Maybe KW needs to be demoted to Asst GM, we could bring in a guy who knows what he's doing, and fire the rest of the scouts.
-
QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 03:36 PM) I'm not too happy with Poreda, but I'm not really too mad about the pick. I guess I have low expectations from the last couple of years. At least we got a guy with upside instead of a #4 starter. An upside as a reliever at best. This is a terrible f***in pick.

*Claps for KW*

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 03:34 PM) Yeah, as I've said, I'm not too upset -- there certaintly is projectability. I would have loved to have Smoker or Griffith, though. It's simple. If Poreda is a bust, we won't have to worry about the current collection of crosscheckers and scouts making any more decisions. If Minnesota or Detroit picks Smoker, Griffith, Harvey, or Porcello, we may be in trouble for quite a long time. So we're in trouble because God knows that Minny and Detroit actually have scouts that know what they're doing.

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 03:24 PM) I'm going to cry if we take Jackson. Why? I mean I want Porcello, but let's be realistic, we just ain't taking him. Jackson would be great.
-
Porcello left, Main - HE GAWN! Sox will f*** this up. And I'll go ape s***
-
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 03:16 PM) A small, small part of me wants the Sox to f*** this up, just to see the board go apes***. LMAO. Me too.
-
QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 03:10 PM) Main in the Trib today. Bleh @ Main. Here's some scouting reports on who's still available that you like. I'm not putting Porcello on there because I know we're not taking him.
-
QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 03:07 PM) We'll probably take Wes Roemer. KW will like his grinder attitude. Sounds like a K-Dub pick. There goes Alderson.
-
QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 03:05 PM) Sounds like something we could use...not that you draft based on need, but damn... I've been on his bandwagon for awhile, simply because I know Ozzie couldn't possibly fk him up.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 03:02 PM) What's the scouting report on Borbon? I'd thought someone would never ask: Julio Borbon Borbon is your prototypical leadoff hitting centerfielder that offers and exciting blend of speed, contact hitting and defense. He may never hit for much power, although scouts think he could one day swat 20 home runs a la Johnny Damon. For now he has enough power to find the gaps, and has plenty of speed to turn doubles into triples. He also handles the bat extermely well and manages the strike zone well beyond his years. He has mastered the drag bunt, and he rarely strikes out. He has enough speed to swipe 30+ bases annually, and his range in centerfield makes him a potential Gold Glove candidate. Borbon doesn't have much of an arm in the outfield, but that will be overlooked given his overall skillset. While Damon is a popular comparison, a better, yet equally unfair comparison may be Kenny Lofton. Borbon is also an excellent student and is hailed for his character and natural baseball instincts. He performed extremely well during the summer of 2006 playing for Team USA, which elevated his draft stock significantly.

I could see the Blue Jays taking him simply because they've wanted to start spending cash and they have, we'll see if they spend it smartly.
