  1. If the Sox bring in Bonds, I'll be the first to get his jersey.
  2. I wouldn't mind Jemile Weeks. http://www.brewerfan.net/ViewAmateurPlayer...3&draftId=3 http://collegebaseball.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=558618 Here's also a quote from a great article about him: http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/news/ar...b&fext=.jsp
  3. QUOTE(BearSox @ Sep 30, 2007 -> 04:20 PM) ah... So, how's that SS from UCLA, Crawford that is. He should be there around 8, but I still have hope for Smoak. Only thing I found on him: http://uclabruins.cstv.com/sports/m-basebl..._brandon00.html
  4. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 30, 2007 -> 02:17 PM) Shingo was not "Figured out". Shingo couldn't throw the floater for a strike his 2nd year, so guys either just sat there and took a walk or waited on the 89 mph fastball. I agree with this. Shingo couldn't hit the strike zone to save his life the 2nd year.
  5. Unfortunately I have a feeling like the others that we're going to take Jordan Danks instead of a top guy because of signing reasons and because KW is pretty dumb when it comes to the draft.
  6. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Sep 13, 2007 -> 12:07 PM) Depending on the price, I'd be surprised if Iguchi came back. I imagine he could get somewhere close to $5 mill a year, and that, atleast in my mind, is not the most efficient way of spending. A name you've brought up before, Mark Loretta, really makes a lot of sense for the White Sox, as he can play all around the infield, he puts the ball in play a lot and gets on base at a solid rate, and rakes against lefties (.800 OPS this year, .798 for his career). That would allow the Sox the ability to have Richar start next year, and if he struggles, the Sox have an insurance plan in Loretta and perhaps even Bourgeois. Also, reassuring our beliefs... The way I take it, one of JC and JG is gone (though I'd honestly probably prefer both), and they'll only have one less worry if Gavin pitches well. If he doesn't, it's just another hole. And it's kind of intriguing how many Japanese names the Sox may be pursuing...a shortstop and reliever along with Kosuke...and it also addresses many of the Sox needs. Japan has worked fairly well for the Sox before, so I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see them go that route again. Why would you prefer both? We don't have anyone ready to take one spot in the rotation, much less two. You want to be crap next year as well? I could understand wanting JC gone because he's underperformed, has a big contract, and it doesn't look like he'll be getting better any soon. JG is signed for below market value, is an innings eater, and is a very solid #3 IMHO.
  7. You guy's didn't like What Comes Around or My Love or Summer Love? Honestly, his album is a musical masterpiece and this guy is beyond talented.
  8. QUOTE(DrunkBomber @ Sep 4, 2007 -> 01:10 PM) The main thing that Ill remember JT from was being the first person to cry on Punk'd when they made him think the IRS was seizing his house. That was incredible. They did smash a guitar his grandpa gave him when he was little. I'd probably cry too. I'm in the group that thinks this was an incredible and I mean incredible performance he put on. His music is pretty great, but I guess some people will never get over the fact that he's Justin Timberlake.

    Entourage

Only thing I didn't like about the episode was how positive everyone was.
  10. QUOTE(BearSox @ Aug 26, 2007 -> 07:50 PM) I would focus with the batters to go with the pitch. Just because a ball is outside doesn't mean you have to pull it. If the ball is away, hit it oppo. If it is down the middle, hit it to center or the gaps. If the ball is inside, pull it. I wouldn't want hitters to focus on always going the other way or pulling the ball, but rather hit the ball where it is pitched. I would also focus on shorter quicker swings and swinging for line drives instead of the fences. And most importantly I'd focus on patience and plate discipline. We can't have batters swinging at ball 4 and/or looking at strike 3 down the middle. We need the batters to be able to work the pitch count and have a good idea of the strike zone. This would pretty much be my approach. Study the pitcher more, go with the pitch, stop swinging for the fences whether it's opposite field, CF or pulling the ball. Shorten the swing up big time. Take pitches for once. Teach hitters how to hit anything other than a fastball.
  11. I like the signing because I'm a Dye fan, but I don't see any of the big moves MB was saying KW was looking to make happening. I still don't see Garland getting traded unless we get a knockout deal. We still need a SS most importantly. Maybe KW gets John Schuerholz super drunk and finds a way to trade Contreras(who I'm really a huge fan of) for Edgar Renteria. That's more wishful thinking on my part. BTW, I'd love to have Willie back.
  12. Haven't people been saying for awhile now that Garland is as good as gone in the offseason? I honestly don't see Kenny trading him unless he gets a great deal.
  13. QUOTE(jasonxctf @ Aug 13, 2007 -> 01:42 PM) with Mackowiak gone, I'm wondering if you would take a gamble on Erstad for one more season as a backup 1B/ 5th Outfielder? As of right now, I figure top priorities have to be Bullpen, 2B, SS and CF. that being said, is there any money left for the utility backup 1B??? Ozzie won't use him as that if he's kept on the team IMHO. Get rid of him.
  14. I still prefer him with his 100mph fastball. *Pops in World Series DVD to watch him make Bagwell drop down on his knees after each whiff*
  15. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 10, 2007 -> 09:56 AM) The rules are incredibly basic, if a player is on the 40 man roster he needs to clear waivers before he can be dealt. That's why they call July 31st the "Non-Waiver" trade deadline. The only players that can be traded without first passing through waivers are those players not on the 40 man roster. Murton is on the Cubs 40. When it comes to Podsednik to the Cubs I want something for him. If we're going to be helping out a desperate team trying to make a playoff push I want something of value in return. If the Cubs want to give up Single-A fodder then hold onto Podsednik and non-tender him at season's end. I'm not just going to give him away to a desperate playoff contender. I personally wouldn't care if we gave him away. Why hold onto someone that you don't plan onto holding yourself, that you won't be getting compensation for anyway and that won't be helping a division rival? Might as well start clearing house so you could let the young guys play. Hell, I'd throw Erstad on waivers too.
  16. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 8, 2007 -> 05:08 PM) Shumpert FINALLY admitted he dropped Illinois today, saying his final 3 are Georgia Tech, Marquette, and North Carolina. As soon as he also admits the obvious and says he's going to UNC, the better. It's one thing to play the game, it's another to play people for fools. Also, Bruce Weber, signing day for '08 is only 3 months away, do you know where your recruiting class is? Or where ANY verbals are? What an idiot. I wonder when Illinois is going to decide to can the guy. He's a great X & O coach, but he's absolutely horrific as a recruiter.
  17. I always picked the Indians to win the division. Are these Tigers, last year's White Sox? Can't say right now because they haven't blown their shot at the playoffs yet
  18. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 5, 2007 -> 07:18 PM) Why in the world would anyone want him here? Why not? I don't understand why some people here don't like him.
  19. Well anyone have any guesses on what Baltimore would want?
  20. I see the Celtics finishing #3 in the Eastern Conference. Offensively, they should be fine, especially with the big 3 on the court. Defensively, they're in trouble. I think a team like the Bulls will match up very favorably against them, but a team like the Heat wouldn't.
  21. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Aug 2, 2007 -> 11:54 PM) I always liked him as a Bear, the trio of Holdman, Urlacher, and Colvin is arguably better than the trio we have now.. I disagree. Holdman definitely was better than Hillenmeyer, but Colvin was just good as a pass rusher really. Lance Briggs is a complete LB IMO.
  22. Well different things smell differently on different people. What smells great for one person may not smell great on the other. Look for colognes that have jasmine, vanilla, and/or cinnamon.
  23. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 22, 2007 -> 05:31 PM) I'll take 95 losses and a top 5 pick over a 84 losses and a mid first round pick. But hey, that's just me. As would I, but the thing that scares me is the drafting philosophy of KW & Co. and the non-dealing with Boras clients. This year would've been a great year to deal with him when it came to the draft.
  24. Don't think I voted in that thread or ever saw it. I've been a Willie supporter and still don't know he did in the clubhouse to this day that some people refer to around here.
