QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ May 16, 2007 -> 11:50 PM) Oh yeah? Who is coming up? Probably Toby Hall. He's been raking.

Simple solution, Fire Greg Walker

Guillen leans toward demoting Sweeney

Hopefully Sweeney never follows the advice of Greg Walker when he tries to give it. -
They're probably going to have a rematch. They should mandate that Floyd Mayweather actually step forward in this one.

Let's talk about possible Sox selections. Guys who I think will interest the White Sox:

QUOTE(Brian @ May 7, 2007 -> 09:56 AM) Medillian was first mention in the first episode of season 2. They have mentioned it a lot. It is Vince's dream project after he did Queens Boulevard. Vince wasn't big enough to get Medillian until he did Aquaman. Ari was acting on rumors when he heard Del Toro wasn't loving it anymore. At that time, Benicio was still on the movie. He could only do so much. It sounds like you would rather watch a show that has the four guys sitting around talking about guy stuff with nothing interesting to move the show along. And Johnny Drama is the man. PREAAAAAACHHHHH

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ May 6, 2007 -> 07:42 PM) Even if DLH had kept with the jab, he wouldn't have won the fight. He was landing them pretty good, but I'm sure PFB would have adjusted. With his speed, he could have avoided a number of those jabs and got him with a right hook a few times. De la Hoya looked old and weak, whereas PBF looked youthful and fast. I am a bit surprised, and dissapointed, that he was so defensive all night but you have to remember, it's all about winning the fight and getting that belt. I'm sure PBF knew he probably wouldn't be able to knock De la Hoya out, so he stayed on the defensive and used him speed to pick his punches. I disagree. PBF couldn't even get adjusted to being in the corner. Reason why he got out was because once DLH got him in the strike zone, he didn't swing more than half the time. That should've been the moment he fkd up Mayweather, but again, he didn't use his jab as much as he should've which didn't allow him to combo. Then he got tired in the latter rounds and he really didn't throw any punches until the 12th. PBF did look youthful and fast, but he was still feeling sting on the punches he was receiving. You also shouldn't be surprised at how defensive he was. He's a complete technician and his whole style predicates on his defense. He doesn't have knockout type power, even when he's throwing haymakers, especially when he is facing a guy like Oscar. That's why I threw down 300 bucks that the fight would go all 12 rounds. Easiest bet of the night.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ May 6, 2007 -> 07:13 PM) WTF is there to question? The fact that one judge gave De la Hoya the decision is ludicrous in itself? People came into the match thinking it was going to be some sort of all-out street fight. GMAFB. It's all about the tactics and that's how Mayweather won. De la Hoya only won 3 rounds. Just because you flail away at someone does not mean you won the round or the match. I assume you watch boxing, so you should know. And you wanna talk about weak punches? Mayweather stood there and took about 8 shots in the kidney from De la Hoya and smiled. Didn't f***ing flinch. Clearly you are a De la Hoya supporter. I actually like Mayweather. Always hated De La Hoya because my father loved him and I always thought he was a puss. De La Hoya had punches that hurt and was rocking Mayweather's head back a couple of times, something Mayweather didn't do the whooooooole fight which pissed me off. He's so damn speedy and De La Hoya would get him in the corner. PBF would get out of it, but he wouldn't punch as soon as he did. As soon as he escaped he should've caught DLH with hooks to the face. The one time DLH look like he was sort of stunned, it was cas his knee bailed out on him at the end of the 11th (PBF never punched him). PBF won rounds 1,7,10,11,12 IMO. Two of the judges had him losing the 12th, which surprised me big time. If PBF fought the whole fight like he did in the 1st and 12th, it would've made him a winner. It should've been a draw if nothing else. I hope both of them fight next time and they actually decide to box. DLH looked good with the jab, but used it seldom which didn't allow him to set up any combos other than body shots. PBF did jack s*** to entertain me. I was looking forward to the "razzle, dazzle ass whooping" he said he would put on on 24/7. Sadly it never showed up. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 6, 2007 -> 07:18 PM) If De la Hoya was offended by what Mayweather did he had the perfect opportunity to take it out on him. He wouldn't abandon his strategy. He was trying to win the fight. And again, this has nothing to do with my point of Mayweather being disrespectful to a race and getting away with it.
-
QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 6, 2007 -> 12:08 PM) Nah, Mayweather probably would have just gotten pissed and oh, I dunno...maybe taken advantage of the fact that he was participating in an organized with the person who disrespected him just 2 minutes after he was disrespected. Um no. Mayweather is the reason why the fight left for something to be desired. All he did was smile and backpedal the whole match, landed weak punches and won that way. I still am trying to understand how that one judge scored it 116-112 Mayweather.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 6, 2007 -> 01:30 AM) No...you taking a piss on the American flag would be like Floyd taking a piss on the Mexican flag... If De La Hoya's attire looked like this: http://www.theodora.com/flags/new/african-american.gif I'd bet my bank account the African community would be outraged and it would've overshadowed the fight no matter how good it turned out to be. It's blatant disrespect.
-
I know the jabs in the face hurt him because his head was rocking back, that's why at one point in the fight, he stopped smiling and started to get serious like he was going to whoop DLH's ass in the back of a parking lot. I can't believe how many people liked PBF's entrance. That's a slap in the face. It's like me taking a piss on the American flag on the 4th of July. It's like taking a crap on a map of Africa. Of course, if Oscar did what PBF did to him, it would be all over CNN and outrage among the community. Double standard? Definately.

QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ May 5, 2007 -> 05:43 PM) Yeah, I figured. But I'm guessing their becoming less and less common with the mass movement towards Digital Cable, where I doubt they have such a device. Well I think Comcast is having it so you can't even watch basic cable without a digital box. It's basically impossible to use one for Comcast which dominates the Chicago market. Only option is either FTA satellite(which constantly is blacked out for sometimes weeks) and WOW.

Heavyweight boxing to me has always been pretty boring to me. Most of the guys are slow and are stiffs. I think that's the reason why Tyson was so exciting to watch as well. He was a heavyweight who was pretty damn quick. I wish DLH was still in his prime though.

I got Mayweather winning, but I want Oscar to win.

QUOTE(caulfield12 @ Apr 18, 2007 -> 08:30 AM) http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/stats?playerId=3948 His pitches per plate appearance numbers have actually improved over his time with Minnesota and SF, especially in 2005. He's been trending backwards the last 7 months. His career average is 3.29 3.56 in 2005, 3.36 in 2006 and down to 3.29 so far this year. He just SEEMED more pesky (along with Mientkiewicz, Koskie, Hocking, LeCroy, Guzman, Rivas) because of when he got the hits to give them one or two run victories over us. Well the thing is, he used to hit for a high average. Now it's lift and pull with him along with the other players and that's what sucks.

Scouting and the instructors are a big part of why this team is the way it is. Our scouts, especially the Latin American and Amateur scouts suck pure ass. Our hitting coach blows big time, and Ozzie seems to play favorites.

I've been with SSI on this one for awhile, I'm suprised neither of us started the thread.
