  1. Porcello left, Main - HE GAWN! Sox will f*** this up. And I'll go ape s***
  2. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 03:16 PM) A small, small part of me wants the Sox to f*** this up, just to see the board go apes***. LMAO. Me too.
  3. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 03:10 PM) Main in the Trib today. Bleh @ Main. Here's some scouting reports on who's still available that you like. I'm not putting Porcello on there because I know we're not taking him.
  4. QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 03:07 PM) We'll probably take Wes Roemer. KW will like his grinder attitude. Sounds like a K-Dub pick. There goes Alderson.
  5. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 03:05 PM) Sounds like something we could use...not that you draft based on need, but damn... I've been on his bandwagon for awhile, simply because I know Ozzie couldn't possibly fk him up.
  6. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 03:02 PM) What's the scouting report on Borbon? I'd thought someone would never ask: Julio Borbon Borbon is your prototypical leadoff hitting centerfielder that offers and exciting blend of speed, contact hitting and defense. He may never hit for much power, although scouts think he could one day swat 20 home runs a la Johnny Damon. For now he has enough power to find the gaps, and has plenty of speed to turn doubles into triples. He also handles the bat extermely well and manages the strike zone well beyond his years. He has mastered the drag bunt, and he rarely strikes out. He has enough speed to swipe 30+ bases annually, and his range in centerfield makes him a potential Gold Glove candidate. Borbon doesn't have much of an arm in the outfield, but that will be overlooked given his overall skillset. While Damon is a popular comparison, a better, yet equally unfair comparison may be Kenny Lofton. Borbon is also an excellent student and is hailed for his character and natural baseball instincts. He performed extremely well during the summer of 2006 playing for Team USA, which elevated his draft stock significantly.
  7. I could see the Blue Jays taking him simply because they've wanted to start spending cash and they have, we'll see if they spend it smartly.
  8. I would've taken Justin Jackson over Kozma. Hopefully he falls to the Sox.
  9. I guarantee the Sox won't take him.
  10. Blake Beavan. Not a bad pick. His delivery reminds me of Jake Peavy.
  11. I want Burgess or Jackson dammit!
  12. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 6, 2007 -> 01:27 PM) For the love of God, quit blaming Walker for everyone's approach. If he truely was preaching what everyone is saying, what a leader he must be if everyone is willing to listen to him, and give up millions in potential income and piss away their careers. Disregard Fields' strikeout totals in the minors. If he fans as much in the majors or even more, I'm sure it will be Walker's fault. So you're saying don't listen to the hitting coach? Especially the young players? Riiiiiiiiight. I'm sure that'll fly by.
  13. We were the wrong situation for him when we drafted him. Fizer should've been what Carlos Boozer is now.
  14. Terrero should be our starting CF and we'll ride him all the way to a playoff berth as he puts up the MVP season we all expected.
  15. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 28, 2007 -> 03:15 PM) Bring in Aardsma now There ya go.
  16. His curve is good when it's not constantly going in the dirt(I don't blame him so much, just the bite he has on it is insane). He rarely uses the Change or Slider. I wouldn't consider those plus pitches. I wish he would use the Knuckler if he's going to stay at his mid-90's velocity. I really wish we could get him back in the 100's.
  17. I still want his lift and pull ass fired.
  18. Only person who doesn't belong is Logan IMO.
  19. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ May 19, 2007 -> 03:02 PM) I probably wasn't very clear, but you read my post wrong. When I say McCarthy = Danks, I'm not comparing them as pitchers. I'm comparing them as products of the farm system. So when somebody says, "Which players have been produced under Kenny's farm?", I think Danks qualifies. He didn't directly come from the Sox farm system, but he's still a product of the system because of the good job the Sox did with McCarthy. This is just plain wrong. McCarthy earned a lot of the hype he got. He dominated the minors like no pitcher I've seen in my young life from the Sox' farm system, and he was the Sox' best pitcher down the stretch in 2005. We might not make the playoffs without BMac. People forget just how dominant he was for us in 2005 -- in September and October, 35 innings pitched while allowing all of eight (!) runs. *cough* Jose Contreras *cough* I don't consider Danks part of the farm system considering he never spent a second of his time there. Jenks is more of a product of our farm system than Danks. McCarthy didn't deserve most of the hype he had. He had a couple of good games and Sox fans jumped on his jock like they did with Boone Logan and Jeff Baj.
  20. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ May 19, 2007 -> 02:30 PM) I agree with the general point that the Sox drafting/scouting has been poor, but you really can't bash Kenny for the McCarthy situation. If you truly believe McCarthy is/was an overrated pitcher, Kenny deserves a lot of credit for talking BMac up enough and getting one of the better left-handed prospects in all of baseball (Danks) for him. For me, Danks = McCarthy when it comes to the Sox' drafting. No, the Sox didn't develop Danks or draft him, but they did with McCarthy and apparently did a good enough job to get one helluva pitcher in return. I disagree. They throw the same pitches, but one clearly has the better stuff and mindset. Sox fans were the ones who did the hype job on McCarthy. The guy was trash to begin with and I've always maintained that. Texas was stupid in thinking McCarthy was more ready than Danks, and then trading a LHP for a RHP.
  21. QUOTE(Brian @ May 19, 2007 -> 01:44 PM) Fields, Sweeney, McCarthy (I know, I know), Honel, Haeger. Oh, I see A guy who doesn't have a position A guy who had a nice swing until Greg Walker started giving him advice An overrated player since day 1 who has yet to prove, he was anything more than that A bust who broke his arm A guy the Sox are fearful of giving a chance and probably won't start consistently with this team ever If that's a good drafting history, I'm scared as hell for this franchise.
  22. QUOTE(BearSox @ May 19, 2007 -> 01:49 PM) The more I read about Burgess the more I want him. Good speed, cannon arm, good defensively, can hit for average, and has crazy power. The guy squats over 600 lbs! And he ran the 60 yard dash under 7 seconds. This guy is a freak. He's going to be a stud. The next Gary Sheffield without the problems.
  23. QUOTE(greg775 @ May 19, 2007 -> 01:07 AM) Don't succumb and punch anybody, Sox fans. You'll get thrown in jail. Peace. p.s. Should MacDougal be a starter? Converted to one? I personally think he sucks and that dates back to his days in KC. He's too wild. He ain't a world champion type player. I won't punch, just stomp some people out. It'll be an act of self defense.
  24. QUOTE(Brian @ May 19, 2007 -> 01:32 PM) KW got Gio back and also got Danks, who is surpassing expectations, IMO. Who knows how good Masset can be. We have drafted some decent talent as well with KW here, minus Royce Ring. I can't NOT trust KW to rebuild. Like who?
  25. Wow, this thread is worse than the trade for Joe Randa post made a couple of years back.
