  1. Oh yeah, Ozzie calls out Mariotti at least once this year.
  2. 93 wins. Miss the playoffs by one game because of Johan Santana pitching a 1 hitter against us. Detroit makes the playoffs.
  3. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Feb 18, 2007 -> 10:19 PM) That's....not fearless at all. Infact, I'll guaranteed you're wrong if we're in playoff contention these next several seasons. It'll take three/four year for recent changes within our minor league system to show promise. If it does at all. Tell me, how exactly does Williams field a contending ballclub? He doesn't overpay for mediocre talent; doesn't overpay for legitimate talent; and doesn't have a minor league system. Something obviously has to give. If several pitching prospects make it to the rotation, and two of Sweeney/Fields/Anderson consistently produce, more than enough is available. Eventually it will catch up with him, especially with Ozzie as our manager.
  4. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Feb 18, 2007 -> 09:39 PM) Ichiro and Gooch would be a marketing dream. Just one of the many reasons Ichiro would make alot of sense for the Sox organization. -We are going to need a leadoff hitter -The OF situation right now is awful -It's possible a RF hole could open up with the subtraction of Dye -Ichiro has said he wants to be with a winning franchise -The Japanese connection of Gooch and Ichiro could do wonders for the Sox(Tad has to be brought back) -We are going to have $$$ money spend on something. I don't see it happening at all. Again, I think the Sox are gearing towards signing a Miguel Cabrera or Johan Santana or at least trying to. Ichiro is already older, isn't he? Isn't Iguchi going to be at least 33 by then as well? Not exactly guys you can build around. I think the Sox will resign Dye to a 3 year deal before they sign Ichiro. And the Sox won't be a winning franchise if they keep letting players go.
  5. He's just getting ready to lay into the Sox and Cubs this summer. He's basically going through his ST.
  6. If we decided to cut payroll after this year I'd be a very pissed off fan. We've heard and saw for years that if we came out to the ballpark the payroll would correlate with that. Well more and more people are coming and all of a sudden payroll would go backwards? Fk that. I could understand on maybe letting go of the pitching since we supposedly have studs in our system now, but if we let go of our position players as well, we're rebuilding which would drive me nuts.
  7. I love those new hats. I'm going to buy myself one.
  8. Yeah, I hate this year's slogan. "Back To The Grind"
  9. 1) What format you prefer playing (head to head or roto) H2H 2) Your relative level of experience (experience is not required to play, I'd just rather not put beginners in the stronger leagues) Pretty Experienced 3) Your league preference (if you have played before) I think I was in League 6 last year, but I have no preference. 4) Whether or not you are willing to be a league commisioner (especially for people that have done it in the past and/or veteran players/posters) Nope.

  11. Ozuna better retire a White Sox!
  12. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Feb 9, 2007 -> 09:25 PM) I did say Iguchi must be signed. However, at some point you have to separate homerism and sensibility and make the right decision, and in the case of both Dye and Crede, it's just not smart to keep them long-term - though Dye is easily a better and smarter choice than Crede. Iguchi is almost a necessity to keep though, and, from a PR standpoint, Buehrle is too (and if they can't resign Buehrle, they'll antagonize him. It sucks, but true). I saw your salary numbers and I think Crede gets way more than 5 years 55 million. Also, I see the Sox resigning 2 of the 3 "stars" of this team. They're not going to leave Thome with nothing.
  13. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Feb 7, 2007 -> 12:23 PM) Right, you can talk the price waaaay down. If you wait it out, it might pay off. As people move further and further beyond the west loop, they might start buying there. It depends on what he wants. If he wants an area that is established and already has a lot going on, then this is probably not the area for him. Very true. As a college student, I was looking to rent an apartment with a couple of friends and we found this killer pad around there with a jacuzzi in the master bedroom all for 1200 a month. It just wasnt for us though. We all work late and we didn't want to take a risk.
  14. QUOTE(greg775 @ Feb 6, 2007 -> 09:37 PM) If Erstad can only hit .250 to .270 as most of you say, then why would he play 3/4 of the time when Pods is out? I say play Anderson in cf and one of the other young guys in left. .250 will do us no good. Simple answer: Because Ozzie Guillen is our manager.
  15. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Feb 6, 2007 -> 11:46 AM) If you're looking to buy, go just west of Western, between Harrison and Roosevelt. Sure parts of the area are still kinda shady, but if you wait it out, the value of your place should boom. After the upcoming construction season, a lot of those old properties should be converted. There is also a blue line stop, the 290 and a few bus lines nearby. If people start buying there. I've heard they've been having a really hard time trying to sell units there.
  16. Durant is 6'10. Why is there need for him to get taller? He's never been a C prospect and never will be. He just needs to gain weight like he did the summer between high school and getting to Texas. I like Durant better. He's a T-Mac/Dirk all in one. I've been hyping him up since high school. Oden is a beast as well. You really couldn't go wrong either way.
  17. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Feb 6, 2007 -> 02:29 PM) No, mediocre is the word, he has no power, doesn't draw walks and doesn't drive in runs, he's mediocre. Dye was a risk but it was a great risk to take with major upside, he was coming off some injuries but was still known as a very good hitter when healthy and they gave him a pretty cheap deal. Erstad is bad offensive player who will be limited defensively while coming off ankle surgery but worst of all he's going to be relied upon to be the team's leadoff hitter to start the season which is pretty ridiculous. I agree. Everyone will be calling for his head soon enough.
  18. Badger is actually right. He said there's a good chance of it happening and most people said he was insane.
  19. The Budlight Rock Paper Scissors, hitchhiker, and the K-Fed ones were the best.
  20. Hi and thank you very much. I turned 21 today, but I can't do too much drinking as I have to get up for work tommorow morning at 5:50.
  21. I've been saying he'll go to college for at least 2 years since he was in high school and before that rule was implemented. No one seems to understand the guy loves college, has a great friendship with Mike Conley Jr., loves playing for Thad Matta, and wants to be a dominant force coming out of college, not some typical player who struggles. Oden will be rich regardless of when he comes out just like Duncan was. Could he break his leg if he stays in college? Yeah, he could also break his leg falling down stairs, getting ran over, or even during an NBA Draft workout. I think it's dumb how people overestimate the risk of staying. It's not large at all, especially for a guy like Oden who's been hyped since high school.
  22. You guys sure could use my 90+mph fastball and my heavy sinker with no control to start a bean war.
  23. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 1, 2007 -> 04:06 PM) So, 1 question...you're citing a statistic which says that Luis Terrero would be a better outfield performer than Mackowiak, Podsednik, Owens, or Ozuna. So in other words, why should I trust it? Scott Podsednik was the most worthless hitter last year in baseball. You don't remember seeing that list? Yes, I would take that source because the person who wrote that studies baseball, does mathematical research and forms his opinion based off that.
  24. Reason why Erstad is a waste and shouldn't be considered for anything other than minor league assignment is summed up perfectly by Nate Silver. Not because of the money so much, but the opportunity cost of playing time for Ryan Sweeney, Brian Anderson and Josh Fields is too much. As Silver says, we're better off giving an opportunity to these guys and see if they fail or not than giving an aging veteran who just doesn't have it anymore anymore PT. http://www.baseballprospectus.com/unfiltered/?p=164
  25. Why no Sweeney?
