  1. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Nov 1, 2005 -> 07:03 PM) When Ozzie had to cancel with Leno they just called off the whole Sox appearance. Does anyone know that for sure? I wish they would still get some pub, but whatever. Looks like we'll have to repeat next year.
  2. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Oct 31, 2005 -> 12:36 PM) With the Angels though, it's worth noting that they really don't have a huge amount of cash to spend this offseason...they have somewhere over $73 million committed to their top 9 guys, and they're estimating needing around $16 million to pay the 14 guys they have in arbitration...thus bringing them to $89 million. Their salary this year was reportedly $97 million, and their GM says it will be "a little higher" next year. None of this includes either signing or replacing Paul Byrd and Bengie Molina. In other words, for them to even offer Konerko more than $12 million, it will mean that their salary will have to jump by about $5 million next year, and that's assuming they replace Byrd and Molina with people making the minimum. I don't know about Byrd, but I can tell you that they plan on using the other Molina as their starter. Many Angels fans have told me he's better defensively and probably just as good offensively. Plus they will be looking to trade Erstad and/pr Finley's contract. They're definately going to be making a run at PK. Hell, Manny makes 24 million or something like that and the Angels plan on making a strong run at him. Arte Moreno is the latin George Steinbrenner. He'll go after them. Oh yeah, they also have Salmon coming off the books too.
  3. QUOTE(greg775 @ Oct 30, 2005 -> 11:56 PM) Maybe the Braves want to learn from us how to actually get it done in the postseason. Kidding. But I was thinking the other day: Isn't it nice when a Chicago team finally makes the finals that the team gets the job done? The Bulls never lost a championship series if I'm not mistaken. Each of their titles came without losing a Finals first. Same with the Sox. Finally got to the World Series and completed the deal. None of this happy to be there, learn from it and try to get em next time around. I'm glad we got it done with no regrets. Bulls in there first year in existence(they might've been called the Staggs) lost in the Finals their first year.
  4. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Oct 30, 2005 -> 07:26 PM) Contreras This thread shows just how reactionary people can be. I'm glad to say I was in his corner.
  5. QUOTE(S720 @ Oct 30, 2005 -> 05:01 PM) I thought I would go back to my basketball mood to watch the beloved Chicago Bulls! I thought I would switch back to football to watch my beloved Chicago Bears! Alas, I failed! I am really in my White Sox withdrawal, big time. I feel empty, sad, and the yearning for more Chicago White Sox games is just too big to contain! Can't wait for Baseball Spring-Training! Exactly how I feel. Even if the Cowboys and Bulls and Fire were to win the championship, I wouldn't be as half pumped up as I am about the White Sox.
  6. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Oct 30, 2005 -> 04:58 PM) Since we had never won the WS in my lifetime, I didn't pay any attention to what other teams have done, or what the traditions are. Will the WS banner get raised at the Cell on opening day next year? Will it just be a pennant that reads '2005', or a banner with 'WS Champs 2005' on it? Do you guys think the chances of getting tix to opening day are good if you don't have some kind of season ticket package? It'll probably be similar to what they have now with the flags with just the year number on it. You never know though. JR might spice it up like he did with the Bulls banners after a year in which he has every single player's name that was on the team including IR. They will also be doing the ring ceremony too if they follow what most teams have done in the past on opening day. I think you still have a decent chance of getting opening day tix. You're just going to have to get them on the day(within in a couple of days) they are released intstead of being able to wait a couple of days or so. I can't wait. I definately can't miss break my streak of 5 consecutive OD's.
  7. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Oct 30, 2005 -> 04:56 PM) Vlad is on the cover. Boooooooo. That bum was injured for a large portion. I'd say David Ortiz was more deserving.
  8. Just watched the video. It's scarier in person.
  9. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Oct 30, 2005 -> 04:10 PM) It sucks SOOOOO BAD NOW. Sox are going to be #1 in all the games, and no MVP this year. :banghead :banghead :banghead That's exactly what I was thinking. And I'm pretty sure either Paul Konerko or Mark Buehrle would've made the cover too. Now there is only MLB2K, right? I'll get it regardless if there is a White Sox member on the cover.
  10. It's so funny. The Rally Crede all started as a joke of hope and turned into the Messiah. Soxtalk...YES!!!!!
  11. I still only play MVP Baseball 2005. I improved the White Sox pitching as well and damn. I just dominate everyone who comes in my way.
  12. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Oct 29, 2005 -> 09:12 PM) The Millennium is slightly over 300 feet, and hits 91 mph. The Dragster is over 400 feet, and I believe hits 120. Well it has a speedometer on the side right before you go up. I think it needs to go at least 124mph to go all the way over. Sometimes it doesn't as in my case and you're dropping alll the way back 400 feet which is really scary cas it whips you. They let you have another try if it doesn't go up all the way though. I can't believe I'm more brave than some of the people here. Most roller coasters have me scared s***less.
  13. RIP. Poor guy. At least he got to witness a White Sox World Series winner.
  14. Basically, what it comes down to is if PK is resigned. If not, I see us going after Manny. I don't think the Manny thing will happen quick.
  15. QUOTE(ISF @ Oct 30, 2005 -> 12:39 PM) Everybody in this forum has been wrong at one time or another. What are the creators eating crow for? I ate my crow over the summer after a spring of making Pantywaist my whipping boy. Lame topic. We should be celebrating the trophy, not calling out fellow fans. Pretty much. Everyone's been wrong about something this season. So no one should feel bad about it or eat crow. Unless there is a big pot of crow for the whole board.
  16. I said the only guy I would replace him with is Chavez. No one else. Got bashed a lot for that. Now everyone wants in on his bandwagon. I still got the PM's from the original members of Crede's Crew. And Aboz, you threatened to ban me if I didn't take you off of Crede's Crew earlier in the season.
  17. QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Oct 30, 2005 -> 09:36 AM) I was personally ready for it to be over. I put a LOT of things in my life on hold for the playoffs, and I'm finally not going to sleep amped up on adrenaline and stress. I was balls to the wall about this team from March 15th til October 15th. 7 months is enough Yeah. I thought I was a huge Bulls fan and that the Bulls would always be my favorite sports team. That's not so. I never found myself cheering so hard and watching the games so tightly. This team has me spent. I probably won't start worrying about the Bulls until December at the earliest. I hope the Sox do it again to me next year.
  18. This team did have great chemistry. I was reading the special pullout from the Tribune on the Sox. It talked about all the players would go hang out at bars and resteraunts after days games. They were always playing card games with each other and whenever they saw Ozzie or Kenny, they would invite them in to play. This team probably had the biggest family atmosphere that I can remember.
  19. He's done great at improving. Hopefully he continues it.
  20. Well it's nice that they both had a laugh(I'm assuming Ryan got the joke from that). It's so true though. Kenny was forced to play the Terry Ryan game and beat him at it. Hopefully this continues until I die.
  21. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Oct 29, 2005 -> 07:09 PM) Chat Crew called this one out awhile ago. ^^What he said.
  22. QUOTE(Antonio Osuna @ Oct 29, 2005 -> 10:27 PM) For those of us without a TV, what was the premise of the sketch? Basically, they had the two girls who do weekend update on. They're from Chicago and claimed to be Sox fans for their whole lives despite being from the Northside, one of them is from Evanston and the other from Wrigleyville. They claimed to get their meat at Moo & Oink, know people from the Robert Taylor Homes and catch the redline to pass by U.S. Cellular Field(girl called it Comensky Field). Scott saw they were frauds and they admitted they were Cubs fans and one of them was also a BoSox fan. He said that was okay and it was for the whole Chicagoland area. They started naming off suburbs like Wilmette, and they said, "Even for Schaumburg?" and he paused for a second and said, "No, not Schaumburg."
  23. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Oct 29, 2005 -> 09:22 PM) save Marte for the Delgado trade. B) Pods Iguchi Thomas Delgado Manny Dye aj Crede Uribe Haha, and I thought the Manny trade was a pipedream. Manny and Delgado? Wow. And yes, I got the sarcasm there. And I agree with you sox-r-us. Manny would be a part of our 3rd day throw away lineup.
