  1. QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Mar 7, 2006 -> 07:09 PM) I dont know who pot-ta-toes is I hope its Lin, he really bothers me. He will forever be po-ta-toes. I believe SAmwise Gamgee might be the pussiest character in the history of cinema
  2. "Fuel" by Metallica Perfect for a guy who throws 100 mph
  3. They just killed off my favorite character!!! However, its awfully nice to see lovely Elisha Cuthbert again
  4. 110 million? Wouldn't that put the Bears something like 30+ million under the cap? What was it expected to be 94 million?
  5. Is it on the radio? TV? mlbTV? whats the deal?
  6. QUOTE(DePloderer @ Mar 3, 2006 -> 08:22 PM) In Blackadder series 2 he plays Simon Partridge and Prince Ludwig in Blackadder series 3 he plays George, Prince of Wales in Blackadder's Christmas Carol he plays George, Prince of Wales and Lord Pigmot in Blackadder The Cavalier Years he has a walk on part as a Roundhead and in Blackadder Goes Forth (final series) he plays The Honorable George Colhurst St. Barleigh. and yes I am a bit of a Blackadder anorach! How do you feel about Fawlty Towers? I thought it was pretty funny but not on the level of BlackAdder
  7. QUOTE(DePloderer @ Mar 3, 2006 -> 08:02 PM) If you want to see Hugh Laurie (House) in a very different light and can get to see older British TV, look out for Jeeves and Wooster or better still any of the BlackAdder series'. BTW in case you are not aware BlackAdder also starred Rowan Atkinson in the leading role. A far superiour show to Mr Bean, which I am told was very popular in the US, although I'm not sure why. Agreed, BlackAdder is absolutely hilarious. Which one is Hugh Laurie in Black Adder though? The prince? Bolrick? Anyone know if BlackAdder is available on DVD in the US?
  8. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Mar 1, 2006 -> 12:49 PM) Yeah he was my idol for most of my childhood, especially since football was my favorite sport then. He I also remember him getting 6 sacks on opening Sunday Night against Oakland, I think it was Sunday night anyways. And I don't remember this but on November 11th, 1990, which was my 5th birthday, he had 7 sacks in one game against Seattle, but Seattle ended up winning that game on the last play I believe. Anyways I saw him in person when I was in 2nd grade, I was too shy to go up and get his autograph when I could've easy at training camp in River Falls, Wisconsin. I really regret not doing that. I also have a jersey of him, not authentic though. I never really was the same in regards to football after that. Baseball became my favorite sport then. There has been no Chief that has worn #58 since then but have they even retired it? I think I checked a while back and they still hadn't had it retired, according to the website. I'm pretty sure it's not retired as well. It was a Sunday night game against the Raiders in which he punished the QB. I'm going to preface my next statement by saying that I am a Bears fan above all, but second to the Bears I'm a Chiefs fan. Arrowhead is the best place I have ever been to watch a football game. The set up of the stadium, the fans, the atmosphere, the weather, they are all amazing. I like Soldier Field, Lambeau is even good (Screw the packers but still cool place), but Arrowhead is the closest to a college environment that you get at a professional level, for any sport not just football. If you ever have the oppurtunity I highly recommend going.
  9. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Feb 28, 2006 -> 10:52 PM) Hey maggsmaggs did you watch the TE catching thing? If so how did Owen Daniels from Wisconsin look. Is someone here a Naperville Central guy? I've watched Owen play for 8 years now and I honestly can't believe that he has any shot in the NFL. He's bulked up a decent amount in college, but he still doesn't seem fast enough or big enough to play TE. He couldn't block on the college level so he definately won't be able to block on the pro level, and if he can't do that why not go with a bigger, faster, stronger guy who can make catches over the middle and take a pop.
  10. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Feb 28, 2006 -> 03:50 PM) I remember this very well, Kansas City ended up losing I believe but it doesn't matter. I still have a hard time believing he's gone...... I agree, he was my idol growing up. I think it was two seasons before he died, he started the season with 6 sacks on opening day! He was an absolute beast, I'm glad I actually got to see him in person. Who else here can claim they actually have a Derrick Thomas authentic jersey?
  11. QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 28, 2006 -> 10:52 PM) IF he violated a contract - can't say since I haven't seen it.. :rolly .. and CBS continued to allow him to do so who's the stupid assholes...? They had every right to suspend him, and they did twice - without pay according to him and not disputed by them. If they felt wronged they should have done more. They didn't. Their fault. I got to imagine that CBS will have evidence to verify their "repeated directives." To me it seems like CBS has a very actionable position and that this will result in a sizable settlement for CBS being paid for by Sirius.
  12. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Mar 1, 2006 -> 12:59 AM) I loved that show but that was on for a while. Yea they even tried to keep it going when he went to college. He was like in 6th grade when that show started. Boy Meets world hardly counts as being pulled before its time. My favorite episode was when Fred Savage (or Ben, whichever was the wonder years one) played one of Topanga's professors at college and made sexual advances at her, ahh nothing like a little sibling rivalry over a girl.
  13. How has no one said SeaQuest I'm not much of a sci-fi guy but man I got hooked on that show
  14. QUOTE(bmags @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 05:15 PM) I don't really need a lecture on classic rock buddy. I've listened to hundreds of albums from 1965 - 1980, and even more form 80-2006, but there's something that can't be accounted for in just listening to an album. I will never be able to understand the sentimentality or the context of these songs. As much as i love pavement, i will never be able to love them the way that the fans did when they were getting slanted and enchanted on copied tapes. Which is why i found it funny that i actually had my song go the final round, in a forum where there are dozens more people who lived during that era and know hundreds of more songs than me. And bands for that matter. You know what one of the most antagonizing words is . . . buddy. When you're at a party and the guy is trying to clear people and he's like 'alright buddy lets get out' or at last call when bouncers are doing the same. Everytime I am referred to as buddy I just want to turn around and take a swing at the first person I see. But moving on. A lecture on classic rock? Hey pot, this is kettle, your black. I believe it was you who was giving me the lecture. Because we didn't live through the era I think that us "youngens" can offer a valuable opinion. It allows people to offset the nostalgia and memories that go along with a song with those who simply listen to it musically and get attached to it that way. Because of this I don't think it is random that you, Mr. "I lived through the era and know the music", favorite's song coincided with us young whippersnappers who want our immediate gratification and MTV.
  15. QUOTE(bmags @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 04:21 PM) I can't help but laugh that a 19 year old may have picked the best classic rock song...hahaha... I'm only in my 20s but I feel more qualified to discuss classic rock than modern rock (minus Nirvana and Audioslave, the only two bands of the 90s-00s that I have followed). Just because you didn't live through the era doesn't mean that you can't get into the music. Yes, I haven't seen any of these bands live (or at least live in their era, before they sold out and started playing $60 concerts to 50 years olds DAMN YOU EAGLES), but thats beauty of music. Most of it is saved for posterity and is easily accessible.
  16. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 04:19 PM) 27 "productive" outs is very good considering where he was hitting in the lineup. He just needs to maintain a .350 obp. If he does that, he'll be just fine. If Juan Uribe maintains a .350 OBP he'll be more than just "fine". He'll be having an absolutely amazing season. Even in his best year so far in 2004 he didn't even crack .330 in OBP. I know that Uribe has improved his approach at the plate and hits better when given a job to do, but I just don't see him getting on base at a .350 clip. I think he'll be extremely productive at doing his job, whether its bunting Podsednik over (hopefully from 2nd to 3rd after a SB), hitting a sac fly, taking pitches to allow Podsednik to steal, but he won't draw enough walks to be a Luis Castillo type #2 hitter. I see Uribe hitting ~.280-.290 with a .330-.350 (at very best) OBP. I think that hitting behind Pods will allow him to see more fastballs which should raise his average, he might even flirt with .300 for some part of the season.
  17. QUOTE(3E8 @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 10:57 AM) How To Lie With Statistics I've read that, a real easy read that teaches you the basics of statistic use moreso than the math and theory behind the statistics. Its an ok book, I just don't know why anyone would read it unless its for a class or a job.
  18. Mac Jurco and Harry is the best show on the radio, too bad all I get in Madison is damn 670 (thats good this year though). The one show on 670 that is worth a damn is the Lawrence Holmes show, he's actually pretty damn amusing and intelligent (quite a change of pace from what you hear from 6 AM - 6 PM). The two shows I absolutely refuse to listen to are North and Murphy, how do they stay on the air?
  19. Like A Rolling Stone - Bob Dylan vs. A Day In The Life - The Beatles
  20. There really has to be more people like Carl. How can you not listen/read some of the stuff that comes out of him and just not die laughing. I hope Carl has a great year in Seattle, I just don't see it happening though.
  21. QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Feb 22, 2006 -> 05:22 PM) 6'6" isn't that big. Butch and Chappell are their only real big players. The first one is kind of soft and the second one isn't very good. Tucker is their best post player, and he's listed at 6'6". Someone like Texas, OSU, or Georgetown could absolutely kill them inside and on the glass. They've only played 3 games since they lost those games. OSU was an impressive win (albiet at home), but the other two were Penn State and an Indiana team that hasn't won a game since NU on February first. Considering that they were down 9 at the half against OSU, that's one really impressive half in 3 games. That's not exactly a whole lot of evidence that they've turned it around. The reasons I think they aren't going very far isn't that they lost to ND State and Purdue (although they do contribute). It's the fact that they are a suspect ballhandling team, they don't force many turnovers on defense, they shoot a paltry 44.3% from the field, they shoot 19 3's per game even though they only hit 35.2%, they only have 3 players that average more than 6.5 points per game, and they're not a particularly good rebounding team. I understand you're a Wisconsin fan and you want to believe that your team can do something, but I just don't see it. I'm a Sconi fan here too, being a student and all, and I agree with you on almost everything that you have said. We do have only 2 big men and Jason Chappell is by far the worst starter in the Big Ten. All you have to do is watch him and the poor decisions that he makes to see his complete lack of basketball sense (you'd think that would run in the family). Butch, however, I think is going to shine towards the end of the season. He is a player that has finally started to learn to use his size and abilities on theNCAA level. If Wisconsin didn't lose 3 of their top 4 bench players to academic ineligibility Wisconsin would havfe run away with the Big Ten and competed well in the tournament. Losing Steisma, Landry, and DeArron Williams significantly hurt the team. Steisma in particular was playing really well before he got suspsended, and the best part of his play was that when he was in Chappell was on the bench. Wisconsin had a 9 man rotation that allowed them to play exceptionally well. However, if they get consist play out of Taylor and Butch throughout the tournament and Tucker is Tucker they can make a run to at least the Sweet 16, with a little luck a little bit farther. The one team I think will definately falter in the tournament is Illinois. The team only goes as far as Dee Brown takes them. And if he is somewhat off on any given day and Augustine gets his normal 2 fouls in the first five minutes Illinois is primed to be upset in the second round. However, I think that they are going to get too good of a seed because of their success from last year. In my opinion they are hardly a top 25 team (somewhere between 17 and 23) and 5 or 4 seed at best. Oh well. Thats my thought. I think the Big Ten tournament will give everyone a good idea of who will make a run in the tournament. Oh, and I think MSU will make it the farthest in the tournament out of any Big Ten team.

    Spring Break

Turning 21 on Thursday, than off to Vegas for my Spring Break!!! Who else is ready to piss away the rest of their semester's spending money!! Has anyone heard anything about the Wynn? That's where I'm staying. For anyone in college/high school I highly recommend Acapulco! I went their last year and my liver is still recovering to this day!!! It was an absolute blast. If anyone ever has the chance to go with their friends don't pass it up
  23. That's a little disturbing. I can't believe they do that much work to a picture and call it a "touch up." By the time they are done it might as well be a different person
  24. Section 1. Like A Rolling Stone - Bob Dylan vs. Baba O' Reilley - The Who Section 2. All Along The Watchtower - Jimi Hendrix vs. Street Fighting Man - The Rolling Stones vs. A Day In The Life - The Beatles
  25. WOW!!! That's a sweet little double bossa nova action hes got going in the beginning there. Does he have anything new? Is he playing with any groups, anyone?
