  1. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 03:36 PM) Cuddyer's numbers were even worse than Swisher's though this season, so he should have less value. I'd think they'd have some interest in Swisher to replace Ibanez. Doubt Raul will be going back there (he's a FA IIRC, and my guess is the Mets will target him to play LF, and move Murphy to 2B). No more Chad Tracy fantasies? Similar OPS to Beltre and close to 0 value to the D'backs at this point... granted his defense isn't so hot... Why settle for just McLouth?... fill the 5th starter hole and buy low on Snell! Trade Swisher at his lowest value? Meh... Buy lows... Robinson Cano? Homer Bailey? Alex Gordon? Ryan Zimmerman? KW's gotta fill three positions this offseason... SP, 3B, and one of SS/2B. It won't all get done on the FA market. It won't all get done by trades. Figure we have enough ammo for one good trade, one good FA acquisition, and one crapshoot.
  2. Bay news: http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_ylt=AsdL...mp;type=fantasy http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/rumors/post/Lo...F?urn=mlb,56838 Bay was bothered by a nagging knee injury all year. Clearly the Sox aren't packing their bags in. They don't stand a chance with their current roster construction but are unwilling to admit defeat and trade away their veterans. Might as well load up and find a way to get Bay in the lineup if he's going to come that cheap. Adding Bay and a leadoff hitter like Figgins would make the lineup legit.
  3. Gooch has a .386 OBP batting second this year. He can't hit at all in any other spot in the lineup apparently.
  4. I'm sure the Sox have been salivating to get a chance to taste the Angels' Colon.
  5. I remember last year I kept hearing, "Just wait till they put it all together, just wait till they put it all together." October came and went. I'd like to be proactive this time around.
  6. QUOTE(That funky motion @ May 1, 2007 -> 10:11 PM) Yao Ming does the same thing, I wonder if its a culture thing. Yes. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_name
  7. Ok, the Royals just called Billy Butler up. They now have Mike Sweeney, Teahen, DeJesus, Butler, Sanders, and Emil Brown for 4 starting slots. If we really need to acquire another hitter, it should be plenty cheap trading with the Royals.
  8. I thought this little blurb from rotoworld was funny:
  9. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 02:50 PM) 4.5 games behind first. No way Podsednik or Ozuna catches that ball in LF. Sweeney saved two runs. Wait, wait, wait. Isn't Sweeney a RF? So you're saying that a player can easily transition from RF to LF? Well, that just defies logic... QUOTE(SoxAce @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 03:17 PM) K-Rod comming in. f***. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 03:18 PM) Before Hawk goes on complimenting Rodriguez, it should be pointed out his velocity is down and he has been hit recently. Ordonez took him deep several days ago. It's not impossible to score off him. He really doesn't need his fastball against us. All breaking pitches should do. I wonder what Shingo would do against us right now?
  10. Not that this would really help if Thome is out for an extended period, but Houston just called up Hunter Pence to play CF, putting the struggling Chris Burke back into a utility role. I know many liked the idea of getting Burke before, I wonder if he's in the doghouse a la Anderson?
  11. I saw Julio Franco at Walgreens recently. He walked in, stared-down a tube of Fixodent for five minutes, then walked out.
  12. Is this gonna be an issue for the rest of the year? Honestly, if he's on and off the DL all year, I can't see him getting in whatever rhythm his meager amount of talent would allow. Emil Brown should become available whenever the Royals bring up Butler (they could probably bring him up now). He's not a world beater but would probably come fairly cheap and put up at least league average numbers. Of course, I'm still crossing my fingers for a DeJesus miracle. I wish the Sox would accept DeJesus as their personal savior.
  13. At least this will speed up my plan to get David DeJesus.
  14. Robinson Cano had a little help from the BABIP fairy last year...
  15. QUOTE(beautox @ Apr 15, 2007 -> 02:28 PM) David is very impressive, i wonder what a team like tampa would give for someone like him. They've been very heavily implicated in Lidge rumors...
  16. Current players: Tier one (it's not that I wish a career threatening injury upon them, but...): Bonds, David Wells, Rogers Tier two (general jerks/tards): Barrett, Sheffield, (Clemens), Giambi, Sosa Tier three (root for them specifically to fail): Maddux, Jeter, Manny, the Twins' ".300" hitters, Maggs, Torii, Inge, Kendall
  17. Jenks was gonna be in no matter what. He's the closer, he's supposed to come in during the ninth. It was not necessary to have Pods out there. That is why he's getting bashed. Although I think most agree it's Oz's fault for having him out there.
  18. QUOTE(caulfield12 @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 12:10 AM) Umm...because there's rubber padding out there and Pods hit the wall at the same time, so the padding was pushed inwards, creating more of a downward trajectory for the ball when it hit. If it landed directly on his head, he would have been knocked out. Jose Canseco.
  19. QUOTE(Jimbo @ Apr 4, 2007 -> 03:54 PM) oooooh for rocco baldelli They played him at DH the other day, and he still managed to come up gimping on one play.
  20. So, who are the prospects we should be looking to acquire at the deadline?
  21. QUOTE(daa84 @ Apr 4, 2007 -> 03:40 PM) tigers hold on for the win Jones saves it in typical fashion. Allowing multiple baserunners then somehow getting out of the inning...
  22. I'm pretty sure this hasn't been mentioned, and I don't think it warrants a new topic. Here's a little blurb from rotoworld quoting Peralta... http://www.rotoworld.com/content/features/...articleid=28014
