The Sox have a mental thing with the A's. I really can't believe they could make it to the playoffs ... AGAIN!
-
Dye is not supposed to play tonight because a bug bit his ass. Looks like Timo in right again.
-
Frank needs to be on the playoff roster because he is the ONLY game changing player we have. No one on the Sox scares opposing managers like Frank does. Besides, 15 years, 1 uniform, the Sox owe it to Frank to be there in October. (If we make it!)

Last night we looked like we abandoned our current mindset and played like we didd the last three years. We hit home runs, made errors and bad relief pitching cost us the game. Yesterday's game reminded me of the August afternoon game against the Twins last year when we were swept. It was the game where Jose Valentin made almost the exact same error that Crede did and opened up the door for the Twins to put us away. Yes we have a 10 game lead, but things don't look great right now.

QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 05:22 PM) Sell out Monday.. 35K last night.. 39K today.. less than 3K left for tomorrow and even less for the weekend... 7 straight days of near sell out crowds. NEAR SELLOUTS? Damn Sox fans never go to the games. I saw a few seats in the upper deck that were not filled yesterday. Cub fans are so much better.

Brooks Boyer walks up to Mark Buehrle and says, "hey Mark, we're putting this on our website, hope you don't mind we said you wrote it." Buehrle said in response, "I'm going on the slip-n-slide."
-
That throw last night by ARow was closer to first than home.
-
He told Burehle that it was unprofessional of him to throw inside to Hafner this weekend. He then went over and kissed Hafner's lip to make it all better.

How long before Paulie's completely bald?
-
Does it look any clearer on the Southside? Any word on when they will restart?
-
Maggs is hitting like .800 this series.
-
My prediction: 45 minute delay starting at about 2:00 pm.
-
HAs anyone noticed how Paulie is being like the friggin UN this year? He wants to not ruffle feathers of anyone on any other team. Like when he b****ed out Uribe for the Derek Lee fake out or calling Maggs the best team mate he's ever had. Get in the fox hole with your team Paulie and stop being such a buddy to every runner at first base. He's basically Mark Grace with power but without the average.

I feel bad for Frank, I so want him to do well and be on the Sox for a ring. He just looks lost right now.

Ball's flying today. No ERA or lead is safe.

QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 01:14 PM) calm down peeps- he wont give up more than 2 runs today. But will we score more than 1?

Freddy digs a hole every damn game.

Frank...how patient are you willing to be with him
retro1983hat replied to Greg Hibbard's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I am nervous about his number of strikeouts, but he is still a major threat in the middle of the order. If, by Sept 1, he is still hitting .220, perhaps he should be used only in a pinch hitting role. -
They still scare the hell out of me.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 08:09 AM) I mentioned beating the Yanks and the BoSox in the playoffs. What I didn't do was disrespect those teams and their accomplishments. What I was doing was saying that beating those teams would give us our yearned for respect. Although, I didn't put it quite so delicately. I completely agree. I guess it's just a lifetime of getting my baseball hopes stomped on that makes me absolutely scared to death of playing teams like the Red Sox and Yankees. No matter how many games we win, if John Garland is pitching with a one-run lead to ARod in the playoffs, I will fear the worst.
-
We have won NOTHING yet. Once we get through this stretch with the Red Sox, Yankees, Twins, and Angels should we start acting cocky. I hear a lot of Sox fans say their not scared of the Yanks or Red Sox in the playoffs. Those teams have boatloads of playoff experience and we have none. Also, those teams can drop 10 runs on us in an inning in a heartbeat. We can't. Until we win the division, we are the three-time second-place Central champs. Until we win the pennant, we have to go back to 1959. Until we win it all, we have to go back to 1917. I don't want to be a pessimist, but a season of 100+ victories can be destroyed by three bad games in October. Remember 2000. We couldn't hit a beachball against Seattle. I absolutely love this team, but nothing is over until it's over.

WHO CARES!!!!! Gues what, during most of my life, the Yankees have been in the playoffs and have won several World Series. You know what else has NEVER happened in my lifetime ... the White Sox won any kind of playoff series. Get over it. So far we have won the trophy they give away ever year for the team with the best record in the first half ... Oh wait, they don't give that to anyone.

QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 08:42 AM) Well look at that... you answered your own question. Well thanks for pointing that out. I was just wondering if anyone had any inside info as to how this type of deal works.

And take the Cubs/Cards off the air .... don't be so sure. If anything, some sort of concession would have to be made so that WGN could pick it up, but I think there is some sort of legal issue with FOX having rights to all day Saturday games.

The September 17th game at Minnesota is scheduled for 11am and there is NO television for that game. What if it a potential clinching game? Will anything be done to put that game on TV?
