  1. YSNY - that was a good email. Fair and not a "rip" job. Fact is, the Sox have since the strike and probably always will, have an attendance issue. We drew great for the Os, but we'll be lucky to bust 60,000 for the three-game set against the Rangers, even with 1/2 price night tonight. Oh and the Pepsi Tuesday night doesn't appear to do anything to bulk up our Tuesday night attendance.
  2. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ May 16, 2005 -> 09:19 AM) I remember watching that game on ESPN. They were cutting out to people who worked at a fire house, and they were all pretty much Cub fans. Yep and some idiots on one of the rooftops were waving brooms while wearing Nixon and Clinton masks. So Cubbie. Even my brother in law, who has Cub season tix, can't stand those kinds of ass-clown Cub fans.
  3. I feel the same. I am going to the Wrigley game on Sunday and I hope so bad that we win this series. I was at the 4th of July Sunday night ESPN game last year when we were swept. Walking through the drunken streets of Wrigleyville, was a very depressing night getting jeered by their idiot fans. I just want the team to do what it has to and take the series.
  4. We are giving credence to his column by working so hard to rip him, just let him be. I was at Saturday's game and I don't know what he was saying, but it was freezing out there. Personally I thought 37K was good for Sat night. The attendance story is an easy one to write on. We won't WON'T average 34K a game like we did this weekend. If we win the division, we will be lucky to draw 2.2 million. I hate the attendance talk, but what can you do. Of course Wrigley sells out. And there are several reasons. There are more Cub fans in the world. Wrigley is a museum (If you honestly had to go to Boston and were going to see the sights, most people would be pissed if they didn't get to see Fenway). The neighborhood. Everything Cubbie. Let's just go to the games and hope for the best.
  5. The fight During the eighth inning of the Sox's 5-2 victory over Cleveland on May 31, Indians Hall of Famer Tris Speaker slid hard into first-baseman Chick Gandil, one of the main conspirators in the Black Sox scandal. A riot nearly ensued, as several fans rushed the field. Several policemen had to rush in from the street to break things up. Oh great the Ligue's (SP) were there then as well.
  6. What is the point of this though? Seems like it's over the top for no reason.
  7. My wife and I were discussing this last night when we saw Hawk promoting it. I know they have done it in the past as well. How does it work, what is involved, what do the Sox provide? Any info would be greatly appreciated.
  8. Allright allright, I know the Cubs need a closer. We'll give them Shingo stright up for Derek Lee.
  9. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 12, 2005 -> 10:12 AM) As of the start of the game yesterday John and Ed said there were 107,000 tickets sold for the whole series. I do understand what he is saying though, it would be nice to push that to about 120,000 for the series and average 30K for the long weekend. Every seat we can sell now, is money towards a deal line deal, or a payroll increase in 2k6. Thanks 2K5, that was more of the point I was making. Also, the more people that are at the park, the less the attendance talk is an issue. Would rather hear about the team, than the attendance.
  10. QUOTE(Steff @ May 12, 2005 -> 08:39 AM) Good grief.. 11 hours to game time and you've called the game already..? No I am going Sat and Sun, I was just hoping we could get a good walk up today, but with rain, we won't.
  11. I know they can't start the game if it is raining at game time. But yes, if there is some kind of window, they will play. The weather screws us again.
  12. Great teams put terrible teams away in those situations. We are fine, but we still have some maturing to do at the plate.
  13. QUOTE(fathom @ May 11, 2005 -> 02:56 PM) The thing is, it's a gamethread. Look at any gamethread on any other site. There's going to be a lot of positive and negative posts during nearly every single game. I'm fairly confident that we're all Sox fans on here. Agreed, none of us would have registered on a Sox message board if we weren't ardent Sox fans. We all want the same thing, winning baseball. And yes, Paulie sometimes drives us nuts and sometimes our attendance sucks, but everyone here is a fan. A critique against the Sox is just that, not a personal vendetta.
  14. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ May 11, 2005 -> 02:38 PM) These pop ups remind me of the 2000 playoffs. I couldn't think of what it reminded me of .... now you nailed it. Maggs pops up, Frank pops up, Lee pops up, Konerko pops up.
  15. We are putting a lot of pressure on El Duque with these quick innings by our offense.
  16. I almost feel as if the Sox were looking ahead to the Orioles. Big series coming up and we're playing in the Tampa Morgue Dome. This Tampa has the same Oakland feel.
  17. God, jeezz, why can't we jump on a team and put them away?
