I hope Joe Jackson can attend the ceremony. He really hasn't done a whole lot since he was in Goodfellas. Well, he was on ER last year. Looked pretty good for 106.

Yes Juan Uribe is a streaky hitter. Very streaky. But he has been absolutely brutal in the last week. He looks completely lost at the plate. I know he is, to say the least, free-swinging, but my goodness, he is scary-bad at the plate right now. He also hasn't had a day off in a while. Ozzie should let him sit a day or so. His bat not being in the lineup really can't hurt us more than it being in the lineup.

Yesterday's most recent joke of a 7th inning stretch at the Flub game featured NASCAR driver Jeff Gordon calling it Wrigley Stadium and completely f***ing up the words to Take Me Out to the Ballgame. He couldn't even follow the words on the monitor. He got booed, but he still was more coherrent that Ron Santo.

Well Uribe definitely needs a day off. He has been brutal lately. Either him or Ozuna at short. But Ozzie needs to only play one sub per game. Not the Jerry Manual Sunday lineup.

My problem is not the numbers or the money. As much as I cringe sometimes when Konerko is up, he is the face of the Sox and a fan favorite. I feel he has been a pretty good soldier during his tenure here and the Sox should sign him. Again, I don't know what kind of money we are looking at, but the chants of "Paulie, Paulie" this weekend at Wrigley, tell me that the fans love this guy and the organization should respect that as well. That being said, with 1 out and a man on first, I would make a fortune if I bet on "Double Play" when Konerko is up in that situation.

Interesting Outside the Lines on right now

I saw this special and I agreed with pretty much everything. You think it's hard being a Sox fan in Chicago, try being a Met fan in New York. Talk about getting NO respect. -
What if it was Game 7 of the World Series and you knew every pitch mattered. Wouldn't Reynolds, Baker, Lee, Paulie all do anything they could to win. Screw this argument. And screw Paulie. We need every friggin win. Minny is right on our ass. Look at last year. Torii Hunter took out our catcher and our season with that play. You play to WIN, not for some gentleman's agreement.

QUOTE(sox-r-us @ May 24, 2005 -> 02:20 AM) We started Timo freaking Perez....we deserved to lose Well get ready for another loss because Ozzie already said Timo is playing for Pods tonight. I am so sick of Timo's, Crede's, Uribe's and Everett's wasted at-bats. I thought we were going to do the little things and grind runs out. On Sunday against the Cubs, we were swinging for the long ball all day and didn't sacrafice or move a runner over once. Last night we just looked dead.

For some reason, we can't EVER, EVER, get a big hit when we need one on the West Coast. It's like we go out there to die. I can't figure it out. It goes back to the 2000 ALDS against Seattle. The trip out west is sooooooooooooo bad. Last night, DJ said we were like 11-44 or something like that in the last few years. Wake the F up guys and get moving.

People, people ..... just enjoy our park for what it has. Wrigley has something to sell that we do not. Fine, we'll sell something they do not. Convenience, parking, food, oh and .... WINNING BASEBALL. Wrigely Field is a museum and they will draw no matter what. You want to know something else, there are more Cub fans than Sox fans. We all know it. That's fine. Someone has to have more fans. We just need to keep going out and supporting our team.

Well for 81 days those bars would make money. What about the rest of the time. Bridgeport is not a destination. As much as I hate to say it, Wrigleyville is. You go to Sluggers or Hi-Tops in January and they are still packed. I will go so far as to say if the Sox won the World Series, the TV crews would get better fan reaction and party shots if they went to the Wrigley bars. Just geography. I love the Cell and I love parking, but the surrounding area is not Wrigleyville. I have gone to games at the Cell and then took the L back up north to party.

I have no problem with what Uribe did. Paulie really should keep the muzzle on until he breaks .250.
-
Ozzie's reaction to the question WAS a mistake though.
-
If the Sox get to the playoffs or (please) World Series, wait until he sees the media coverage and second-guessing there. He needs to chill and just say he made a mistake.

I was at the game yesterday and what I noticed more than anything is the amount of time Viz was taking between pitches. Sox pitchers have been preaching all year: WORK FAST, WORK FAST. And here this guy is walking around the mound, shaking off pitches. I said to the woman next to me as he was doing this; "You guys are going to score this inning off of this guy." Sure enough. He is a mop-up guy, nothing more. He should not have been brought in during that situation. We won the series, but great teams put bad teams away in those situations.

All I hope today is that Freddy doesn't let one pitch even get close to the strikezone when Derek Lee is up. -

Visitors take BP second. -
Galena is great if you never leave Eagle Ridge Resort. The rest of the town is a bore unless you like antique shops and lots of them. We ended up going to the casino in Dubuque, Iowa and left as early as we could the next day.

I don't care about him or his hands. I don't even like him. He takes things way to seriously when MJH give him s***. He's a baseball reporter for local radio. Chill out Bruce.

There are unbelievable seats still available for that Memorial Day game. We really should sell that one out. Half Price and Holiday Day Game.

Rock on White Sox!!!!

The Twins always put up a fight. I still feel we need to put a big gap between us and them by the ASB. We play the Twins, Yanks, Red Sox, and Baltimore all in a short period of time. We need to survive that period if we want to take this thing this year.

THE SKY IS FALLING, THE SKY IS FALLING

Yes we are in first, yes we have the best record .... but, we do have serious concerns. Shingo, PK and JD are problems that HAVE to be addressed. We can't just say, oh well, we are in first place. No, that is a Cub mentality. Just be happy because it's more fun. No, KW needs to make sure he keeps this team performing at its best. Even if that means shaking things up. -
Here is my email to Jay Mariotti: Mr. Mariotti: I am not going to rip you as some White Sox fans probably have during the last two days following your column giving Sox fans a hard time for not filling up the park. I think you had some valid points, but I believe your timing was off. The weather was cold this weekend and the fact we still drew 130,000 in May is very good by Sox attendance standards. That article would have been more appropriate two weeks ago when the Sox drew flies against the Royals. I am sure Sox management would be thrilled to average 20,000 for the Texas series this week, including the day game Wednesday. The list of why more people go to Cubs games is longer than both of our arms put together. Few people attend Cubs baseball games, people attend Wrigleyville fiestas, only one part of which happens to be the Cubs game. Deep down, you know this Mr. Mariotti. Just witness the festivities outside the park following a Cub loss, you wouldn't know whether the team won or lost. In any case, whether it be true or not, you do appear to have a bias against the Sox. Personally, I believe all media members do, whether they would admit it or not. The reason, of course, is that the Cubs winning and breaking whatever contrived curse they think they have, would make the ultimate sports story for writers/announcers/broadcasters. So, please give our Sox a break. They are winning and the attendance is steadily climbing upward. Check it out, it is. At the end of the year, we will be up 10-20% over last year. There are so many more and better stories to write about. Sox attendance and comparing the experience to Wrigley is extremely easy to write. Pick something where you actually have to interview some of the players and get into their heads. I'll keep reading, but I wish you could give the Sox organization credit. The players, coaches and, yes, management all have deserved it. Here is is response to me: No one has ripped me at all. The truth hurts.

Does anyone else just keep looking at the calendar and can't wait until June so we can put some, some, of this attendance stuff to rest? Of course that series against the Drays ought to be scary during 4th of July week.
