  1. After an unbelievable start and being on the road for a week. It's too bad these guys can't all take the day off to clear their heads and get healthy. Jeez everyone looks hurt. Insted a bunch of the players have to show up at the cold, wet Cell to film commercials. I know it was scheduled, but they probably just want to sleep in today. TV TIME: The Sox get a break with today's day off giving their walking wounded time to recuperate. But some players aren't happy they will be called in for extra duty today to film television commercials set to air later this season. Buehrle had a particularly grim assignment. The Sox were expected to get into Chicago around midnight, and he had to be at the ballpark at 8 a.m. today. He had only a vague idea of what he was expected to do but knew it had something to do with pitching and then being whisked away to a dreamlike setting, complete with an angel. Stay tuned.
  2. If he posts 16 wins, he'll get Matt Clement money. And since Burhle, Garcia, and the two Cubans are locked up for next year, get ready for B-Mac.
  3. All teams have to do is get into his head. Remember last year when Timo was screwing with him when he was on first base and Zambrano kept throwing over there and when he finally pitched one to the plate, we hit a homer. Teams should really just f*** with him constantly. Once you're in his head, he's too dumb to think of anything else.
  4. Lots of little injuries are going to plauge us and our lack of depth. Uribe going down is going to hurt. Unfortunately when the team is on the west coast, we don't get any good updates on injuries or anything like that. Harris has made an error the last two games he played. And now Jermaine Dye-d is getting into the bad defense act. He should be having enough trouble being bad at the plate.
  5. Jermaine Dye looks like he spent more time lining up his cars for MTV's Cribs than he did getting ready for the season.
  6. I agree, I would be thrilled if I heard we would be 16-5. BUT ... we haven't exactly played the best baseball in the last 4 games. We should have lost Sunday and yesterday. We need to get our regular lineup in there every day for a while and we'll be fine. Today will be an important game. Maybe someone can tell Dye that he left his keys back in the locker room when they are all leaving today and then all run out the door and get on the bus and leave him there.
  7. I am a bit worried about the injuries. Contreras, Pods, Ozuna, Crede, Uribe, Pierzynski. Injuries happen to every team, but these nagging ones are almost worse than a guy going on the DL. Does anyone know anything concrete on Uribe?
  8. They must have released more tickets for this weekend than were previously available. I checked yesterday and the entire lower bowl was sold out. Today, they had for Saturday's game - four seats/ninth row/sec 145. Might have had somethng to do with whatever discount they are running this weekend. And yes, the weather will suck. If we can get to the Orioles series still hot, that's when attendance will take off.
  9. My preditiction: Friday - 22000 Saturday - 31000 Sunday - 24000
  10. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Apr 25, 2005 -> 01:43 PM) I want Dye to do well so bad. Though he was a Sox killer while in KC and Oakland, he just seemed like a good guy. I like what he did this offseason, staying true to his word with the Sox, after being offered more money. I guess this thread might help. The Crede threads just resulted in a 14 game hitting streak. Rowand's bashing thread over the weekend resulted in 2 crucial hits in the Saturday and Sunday games. I guess it's Dye's turn. I too want him to really do well. I think he is a solid veteran and should have been able to fit right in here. If he and Rowand can get hot, we should be fine once the inevitable losing streak comes.
  11. I have been a Sox fan for my entire life. The worst we can do is definitely worse than 90 wins.
  12. Yes, yes, yes it's early, but JD looks absolutely awful on many at-bats. When he pinch hit on Sunday he looked absolutely lost at the plate. He is going to be a key, along with his partner with a pathetic batting average, Aaron Rowand.
  13. QUOTE(JDsDirtySox @ Apr 24, 2005 -> 10:52 AM) This happens in almost all baseball broadcasts. For one inning, or atleast half an inning in every game.... DJ takes over the play by play from Hawk, Farmer takes over for Rooney, Andy Mazur takes over for Pat Hughes on Cubs Radio (because Santo can't do a thing), etc. This is a normal occurence in baseball broadcasts. If you listen to the Sox radio broadcasts very much, alot of times after Rooney comes back from his break Farmer will ask him what he had to eat, etc. "Uh, oh, ahhhh, uh, but, eeeaaaahhhh, oh, um, um, yeah, Paaaaaaat, uah, well, ohhhhh, you see, um, oh, weeeelllll, wahhhhhh, booooohoooo, ohhh, ummmm, ackk, weeee." That was just Santo describing a routine groundball to short.
  14. How she is not doing time for treason is beyond me. Since I was born during the Vietnam War, I do not have the grasp as to why she was able to get away with it. It seems like if it was during WWII or even now, she would have bee crucified. FYI, my father is a Viet vet.

Why does these threads always veer way off course. I watched and I think the host persuaded the old woman to quit to keep Steph. She is like the best female Survivor ever. Tough as nails.
  16. I am worried that Ozzie is taking the Sox fast start as his personal license to lash out at anyone he doesn't like. If the Sox were 4-12, he wouldn't be chirping like this. We are not going to win at the clip all year. He should chill out a bit.
  17. I think at this point, Shingo has lost the job of closer. I'm not sure about anyone else, but last night when he came in, I was hoping someone else was warming up. The Sox have always had a great closer one year and the next year, it's like they can't pitch. One year Thigpen sets the saves record, the next he can't get anyone out. Roberto Hernandez was brilliant one year and horrid after that. Keith Folke's slow pitch gets the hitters in 2000 and after that he gets drilled. Shingo made hitters look stupid last year, this year, he's the dumb one.
  18. I know I don't want to belabor the attendance issue and I know it will improve once it gets closer to summer, but first place showdown vs. the Twins on half price night ..... not a good sign of things to come.
  19. Now all we need is the real Jermaine Dye to show up.
  20. They should get Hooters to sponsor it and call it the Hooters Wet T-shirt Shower!
  21. We should break 30K each game, but it doesn't look good unless the walkup is unbelievable.
  22. This just in. Ron Hassey is being inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame.
  23. And 18,000 Sunday. We'd better bust 30,000 on half-price Monday vs. the Twinkies.
  24. I am pretty sure the pics are 3-4 years old. I currently live in a house that is 4 years old and my house is there and part of the rest of the subdivision, but most of the subdivision was finished in the last two years and that is shown as undeveloped on the map. Everyone at our office has been playing with this all day.
  25. As happy as I am with the fact we are winning, I am a little concerned about Paulie and Jermaine Dye.
