  1. These are the Yankees. They will not be this bad all year. They always go on a run. I wish we were catching them now instead of later in the year.
  2. Yes, very worried. Last night he Kd with runners on 2nd and 3rd. Granted we were leading and we won the game, but when we are playing better teams, we need that hit to put a team away. Give Double-Play-Paulie a day off.
  3. DJ and the Pope. I almost fell asleep at one point. Whoa, how about a little life guys.
  4. Look, we as Sox fans are only a bunch of shirtless, tattooed red necks that only show up to games on half price night when it's 70 degrees and the only reason we even want to go is for the chance to run on the field to beat someone up. Kruk would fit in right with us. He could even start one of the 50 fights per game in the left field bleachers.
  5. The pitching will not be this dominant but the hitting should also not be this bad. So instead of winning 2-1, we should (hopefully) start winning some games 6-5.

  7. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 4, 2005 -> 08:19 AM) I am sure Jay agrees with you... Unless my theory is true and you are in fact one Jay Mariotti... Actually for one game, I would love to hear Jay do the game. He makes me sick and his constant axe-grinding against Reinsdorf and the Sox is over the top. But I would think it would be funny/mildly entertaining for one game.
  8. QUOTE(Texsox @ May 4, 2005 -> 08:15 AM) The Bears draw fans in worse weather. It was a baseball game! If we are still drawing 12000 in June and we are still in first place, then it will be a story. But early May, cold weather, Royals. I have the 9 game package and in no way was one of my games going to be this series. Let's just get through this and the fans should be there in force for the Baltimore series. Don't forget, last night was not a true half price night. Only the upper deck is 2-for-1. Tonight will suck attendance-wise, so will tomorrow. Let's just focus on the sucess of the team right now.
  9. Last night watching the game I almost cringed ahead of time knowing that we were going to get ripped for attendance. We just need to get through this series and things will be better. Funny thing is last night might be the best crowd we get all series. Tonight there might be more employees and players at the Cell than fans. No discounts, Bulls game, Wednesday in early May ... we should draw only our season ticket base. In any case, we should be fine once the Orioles series starts. Kruk even called the people at Camden Yard out as well.
  10. There has been ver little info on Uribe. I am worried he is being put on the shelf.
  11. QUOTE(Steff @ May 3, 2005 -> 10:13 AM) Taking the little one tonight.. I hope Mark is his usual fast self.. Plenty of room to stretch out for sure. If we draw 45,000 total for all three games it'd be some kind of miracle.
  12. QUOTE(poorme @ May 3, 2005 -> 10:23 AM) yeah, i agree. he sucks. how long until he's canned? wonder what'll be next? the show is slightly better with mulligan instead of j hood. Slightly better. There is just no flow to the show. And my god, ask Doug Buffone to comment on any sport other than football and he sounds moronic.
  13. The old Heavy Fuel Crew show was great on the Score and nothing in that time slot has come close to being remotely entertaining since. However, Rick Telander's show is so bad, it's almost unlistenable. Teleander thinks he is cooler and hipper than he really is. He's so boring. I have grown to like MJH, but only a bit. I really can't stand Harry Tiny-Nuts. He is such a kiss ass, it's almost disgusting and cheapens the show.
  14. This is tough because in terms of raw numbers, we could get someone to replace Konerko. However, I believe Paulie is a big part of this team's success and chemistry. Konerko is the face of this team and probably the biggest fan favorite. That should not be overlooked. Granted, with runners on first and second and one out, we all are thinking double play. It's almost a given. That said, I think he should be resigned if they can get him for under $10 million per.
  15. Riding on a Bus with my Sister .... sounds like a real gripping story. What was there a Golden Girls reunion or a Murder She Wrote marathon not scheduled.
  16. QUOTE(kapkomet @ May 2, 2005 -> 07:29 AM) I hate to say it, but Minnie is hanging even with our hot start, which I would expect nothing less. This is going to be a nip and tuck season all the way. You are correct. We are going to fight with them until the last week I think.
  17. The Ego factor in the booth with Hawk and Stone would be unbearable. Besides I don't think that Stone particularly likes Hawk's Hawkimsms. Can of corn, hangwuffhim, etc...
  18. Does anyone know how many the lower bowl holds? Box seats and outfield?
  19. My picks: Today: 19000 (-2000 with rain/+2000 no rain) Sat: 30000 + me (-3000 with rain/+3000 no rain) Sun: 21000 (-2000 with rain/+2000 no rain)
  20. QUOTE(mrzo2733 @ Apr 29, 2005 -> 03:13 AM) I would have to say I agree that is very hard being a Sox fan. His reason were pretty off but he was on the right track. I love the White Sox and am very happy I at some point in my life chose the Sox or they chose me. But in another way I kind of feel like a masochist. I feel that in the end, every year, I'm just gonna get hurt. Especially the people on this website and others who are similar. We are all die hards. Why else would we spend time writing meaningless messages like this one. I mean there have been times I'll see a guy in a bar wearing a Sox hat and I'll say nice hat and we'll just start talking. This is because I have a certain amount of respect for a person just because they are a Sox fan. I don't know, basically I am just trying to say I agree with the guy who wrote the blog. I have to somewhat agree. When we were in Florida recently and we saw a guy with a Sox hat on, my wife just walked up to him and said, "We're Sox fans too." It's like a bond that we all have and unfortunately, rarely is it associated with winning. That's why I am so nervous after our fast start. I just want so bad for us to stay in first place the whole year. Then we will fill up the park consistently and there will be the Sox "buzz" the whole year. Come on guys, let's get them this weekend.
  21. As long as we lead our division the whole year, we'll be in the top 5. Does anyone know what the stats are of a team winning it's division that started 16-6. If that's even been checked.
  22. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 28, 2005 -> 01:51 PM) I agree with you until what you said above. I disagree completely. Look at all the Red Sox s*** that we have to hear about now. If the cubs won it all, consider all casual fans of the sox gone, and we might as well move to FLA. Oh the REd Sox deserve their day in the sun right now. They came back from 0-3 to the Yanks and swept the Cards. The Cubs winning would make our lives miserable for a few years. Then, the expectations would be very high for them and no one would be cheering their manager for having two winning seasons in a row for the first time in a millenium. What would be the cache of a sub-.500 that won the World Series six years ago.
  23. I love the Sox and have been a die-hard fan since I was a little kid, BUT, that being said, it is difficult to be a Sox fan. That is what makes it so rewarding. The local media, national media, casual sports fans, people who wouldn't know a curve ball from a billiard ball, and just about everyone one else in the world wants the Cubs to win a World Series. Also, I know many on this board live in Bridgeport, but as much as I hate to admit it, Wrigleyville is a cooler place to hang out before/after/ or even on non game days. For some reason the Cubs have been lovable losers whereas the Sox have been basically mediocre for much of the past 20 years. The strike did not help us either. Sosa began booming homers just as our owner was being blamed (rightly or wrongly is up for debate) for killing our World Series hopes. As scared as I am about the prospect of it happening, the best thing to happen to the Sox would be for the Cubs to win the World Series. Yeah, I said it. If they won, we would have to endure about two years of utter torture, but then, they would just be another team. The mystique, the lovable loser tag, that old f*** Sam Siannis, the goat, Ronny Woo-Woo, and Ronny Boo-Hoo Santo, would all be just parts of the story from that year and all that curse crap would be over. They'd just be another team then. JMO.
  24. QUOTE(winodj @ Apr 28, 2005 -> 12:07 PM) All this optimism for what? The season is completely over. I mean we lost a series in Oakland in April. We might as well be the Ralph Wiggum's of the AL now. I choo-choo-choose the White Sox.
  25. We were going to lose a series at some point. The concerns are: 1. How the team bounces back and prevents two lost games from turning into a loosing streak. Those two losses were deflating. The team needs to get pumped for Detroit. 2. Injuries. We are banged up everywhere. This is where we are in trouble. I wonder if these injuries will be nagging us all year. Every team has injuries, but we have a ton early.
