QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Apr 13, 2005 -> 02:10 PM) Yeah but Kerry has to be great...he struck out 20 people b4.... :banghead One game, seven years ago. I have never seen someone live off of one thing for so long. He's the Dexy's Midnight Runners of pro baseball. -
Everyone has differing opinions on abortion. But guys like this make you wonder if he is trying to support an unborn life, why is he trying to kill people.

4 innings pitched. 6 hits 4 earned runs and that's just so far. We have to start the OVERRATED chant at the Cubs/Sox games this year to yell at both Wood and Prior. I would love nothing more than to hear 40,000 Sox fans chanting OVERRATED at Mr. 20 Strikouts.

QUOTE(TheBigHurt35 @ Apr 13, 2005 -> 12:24 PM) Moral of the story: Save the sex for when you're sober. At the very least, it's more enjoyable. Agreed. How many of us can think back and consider ourselves lucky after something we did after a night of drinking. I.E. How did I get home last night? Stupid, stupid.

I used to cover crime and the about 20 Chicagoland suburban police departments for the Trib when I got out of college. I have reported on actual rapes, but I also saw more than my share of police reports where the girl was lying. A couple of them were of the "gang" variety. "Gang" meaning more than one guy, not an affiliation to a specific gang. Often the girl regretted having the sex afterward, but sometimes it was a case of her being so drunk she didn't know exactly what she was doing. This is a gray area. I remember a few years back where a male student at Brown University was accused of rape and basically black-balled at the school because he had sex with a girl who apparently wanted to, but later she said she was too drunk to know what she was doing. She also said the guy knew she was too intoxicated to know what she was doing. Gray area indeed.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 12, 2005 -> 11:32 AM) And their fans would do the Sox proud as well For all the talk of Cub fans and their beer-swilling. There is no doubt that Sox fans could talk the Cub fans in a drinking contest. And in a fight, I would surely talk our shirtless, tattooed, mullet-headed fans over their flip-flop sandals and floppy hat wearing fans.

The team will spend Tuesday night at a popular steakhouse—on their day off. They should all pretend to go to the restroom at the same time and leave Crede with the check.

Mostly guys just do the sports bar thing. I have gone to a quick dinner with another guy, but it's usually like Fridays or something like that when it's a non-business setting. guys need the other diversion of gambling, alcohol or sports, because if you ever actually listened to two guy friends talk ... not very deep. That's why guy relationships usually last a long time .... no getting hurt when no conversation goes below the surface.

He's a jerk on the show, but Trump does like some things about him. He likes people that are fired up and excitable. Not some drone spouting off statistics and numerous degrees.

Him not taking out runners was what Ozzie was talking about and then he does it with the friggin Brewers. Oh well, I like Podzilla in left. Anyone know how bad is groin pull is. (Insert joke here)

When was in high school, during a rain storm, I heard the unmistakable rapping on my Camaro window from a police flashlight. Six Glenview cops had my girlfriend and I standing outside with very little on while they checked it out. They were all laughing pretty hard. Looking back, it was hilarious. At the time, definitely a mood killer.

White Sox @ Twins: 4/10/05 Game Thread
retro1983hat replied to Butter Parque's topic in 2005 Season in Review
We got beat by a great pitcher and as of right now, he's the Cy Young winner, so he, technically, is the best pitcher in the league. No shame, no harm done. We won 2 of 3. We need to win these series now, because late in the year, the Sox go through a stretch where we play 15 straight against the Red Sox, Yankees and Twins. We will need a lead going into September. -
I am not sure if anyone remembers a hockey player that used to play for Minnesota: Dino Ciccarelli Hawks fans and players hated him. But everyone would have loved to have him on their team. He played extremely hard and always had the ability to kill you when the game was really on the line. Torii Hunter is the same way. Hate to play against him, love to have him on your team.

QUOTE(Jabroni @ Apr 8, 2005 -> 01:29 PM) If you guys think DJ is bad, Len Kasper and Bob Brenly are the worst commentators in the history of baseball. Here's a reminder, I suck.
-
QUOTE(Jabroni @ Apr 8, 2005 -> 01:20 PM) Wood has thrown 51 pitches (26 for strikes) through 3 innings. How is this guy so hyped up? If he or Prior pitch in one of the games at the Cell, we have to start the "OVERRATED" chant. Because for sure Wood is still living off of that 20 strikeout game 6 years ago.
-
QUOTE(3E8 @ Apr 8, 2005 -> 01:01 PM) cub fans still haven't learned to not interfere. Ever been to a Cub game? If it's not the vendors selling the big, dumb bear claw, then it's rude, drunk fans getting up in front of you while the game is going on.
-
QUOTE(3E8 @ Apr 8, 2005 -> 12:34 PM) I didn't know the cubs had their own song "go cubs go" until I turned on this game. I almost throw up'd. You must be joking. They have shoved that tired song down our throats since 1984.

At Sox fest, that jag Ed Famer hosted the forum with the players and their wives. Rowand said that no one sleeps more than Crede, until Farmer said that Jon Garland sleeps more. Interestingly, if I had to guess which two players would sleep the most on the team, it would have been Crede and Garland. They just have that lazt, passive air about themselves. Whether that relates to the field is another thing, but it sure comes across that way.

QUOTE(TheBigHurt35 @ Apr 8, 2005 -> 10:48 AM) Just attempting sarcasm. Easy.

I used to work with Jay Pinsky's son, Scott. He took me to a game and we ate in the Bards Room. Just thought I'd throw something positive in, since being a Sox fan means you are born cynical, skeptical, crabby, jealous, and basically the only team you hate more than the Cubs or any other team, is the Sox themselves.

US Cellular has a 20 year naming deal with the Sox. I'm sure they didn't fork over $60 million to go to Indianapolis.

What do you expect (Realistically) of El Duque?
retro1983hat replied to Butter Parque's topic in Pale Hose Talk
What's the name of that "bloop" pitch El Duque throws? -
Look it's early April and they are day games. Nothing to sweat about. We are already way ahead of last year's pace of ticket sales. We will probably draw flies for the Seattle series and do OK for the Mon night Twins game. After that it will slowly build until summer. Weekday nights in April and May - 15-20K Weekends April and May - 20K - 25K Weekday Day June - Aug - 20K Weekday nights June - Aug - 20K - 25K Weekends June - Aug - 30K The Sox never drew to weekday day games. Ever! Different fan base. Talk to me about the attendance in August and then we'll see if the criticism is warranted.

I watched the game on TiVo and I was so excited when Hermanson mowed the Tribe down, but I first-guessed Ozzie by saying they should've left him in for the ninth. In my opinion, Shingo should only be seen once a series. Last year he seemed to do well on the first go round against a team. Shingo needs to be on a short leash, and Hermanson I think knows he could get the call at any moment to close. Pods - Looks decent Gooch - Looking good Jurassic - Slumping Kong - Rocking JD - Solid, professional Rowand - He doesn't look comfortable AJP - Solid, rock Crede - sucks Uribe - He just needs to keep us in games with his O and D

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 7, 2005 -> 09:01 AM) Care to guess how many times in the HISTORY of the Chicago White Sox that they averaged even 20,000 people before 1980? Probably 0, but it is a new era. I just hate any attendance discussion. If we aren't drawing on weekends in August, then let's worry about it, until then, lets just worry sbout the team on the field.
