I was honestly touched by reading that. I live in the NW suburbs so I do not get the Southtown, but I have a feeling I will be seeing Cowley's work in a larger paper soon. Good writing, great story.

I'm going with Bafia.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 09:11 AM) I dont care what Hawk said, I was there, I was 15 feet away, it was good, smart baserunning, and he was safe. It was a bad call. Period, end of story. I was there too and Paulie was not busting his ass. I absolutely love this team and how they built this record but they are not doing those little things right now. Paulie and the rest of the Sox do not have enough talent to win on talent alone.
-
Paulie's and Crede's gaffes yesterday are just indicitive of the bad baseball we have been playing for two weeks. We are not playing the baseball that got us to the best record in baseball (only one game ahead of the Cards BTW). We are swinging for the fences and can't move runners over. Get them on. Get them over. Get them in. Lately, its been: Get them on. Pop it up. Strike out. Inning over!

I love Hawk, but last week when he said he'd rather have Uribe and Crede at SS and 3B over Jeter and A-Rod, I wanted to puke. Hawk, I know you love the Sox, but take it down a notch or two.
-
I was at last night's game (my 10th of the year with 4 more to go) and the way Paulie tried to coast into second on what seemed like a for sure double was disgusting. The ball went off the wall, the LF threw to the SS, who threw to 3B who attempted to tag Carl and then threw to 2B to throw Paulie's slow ass out. That would have been 2nd and 3rd no out. Ozzie benched Uribe for not running out a fly ball a few weeks ago, he should sit Pualie for the same thing. And while he's at it, sit Crede for not taking out thier catcher on that play at home.

I LMAO.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 01:14 AM) No, I never turn down an opportunity to bash Pods defense. He has made some highlight reel plays, but he gets about as bad a jump as any left fielder in baseball. Only one I can safely say is worse would be Garret Anderson who is total trash. First off Manny Ramierez is the worst outfielder I have ever seen and I saw Carlton Fist try and play LF. That being said, Willie Harris is not a replacement for All Star Scott Posednik. Pods' defense is not good, but Willie can't can't can't get himself on base. He can't bunt and he can't hit the ball out of the infield.

You don't want to go into the playoffs on a sour note.

Uribe is absolutely lost right now .... and he made a first inning error. What's the point of his game right now? -

Uribe has absolutely NO plan going to the plate other than swinging at every pitch. -

Come on Pods ... No Ks. -
We are not manufacturing runs like we were earlier in the season. We were screwing with teams' heads when we were doing that. Now, we are playing like the 2001-2002-2003-2004 Sox.

There is no way the Yankees will let Griffey pass by them and let him fall to us.

I was unaware of that. I had heard rumors about the items I listed above, but didn't know about that. I did hear from some people that ran into Wimpy once that he said Hawk was the biggest A-hole he ever met in baseball. FWIW.
-
Most of us probably agree Hawk was 10X better when Pacoriek was with him. I have heard rumors but nothing specific as to why Wimpy left the Sox booth. Some of theories are: 1. Wimpy was getting a lot of publicity and was becoming a fan favorite and Hawk's ego was just too big to deal with that. 2. Reinsdorf wanted Tom to study harder and work more on his pregame preparation and he refused. 3. Spend more time with the family closer to home. 4. He and Hawk had a big blowout and in the end, the Sox would take Harrelson's side. Just wondering. I loved the two of them together and the booth hasn't been the same since.

Does anyone know where I can look to see where the Sox rank vs. the rest of the league in attendance this year?
-
For argument's sake, if the Reds wanted to put Jr. through the waiver process, when could they do that? Is there a waiver deadline, like the trading deadline?
-
Lineup should be: Pods Gooch Dye Paulie AJ Everett Arow Crede Uribe Against tough lefties ... same lineup ... don't screw around with all that. When there is a tough righty, all the righties still bat.
-
My guess is that we stand pat.
-
Since that sweep in Cleveland, we have looked like we did during the last three years. Bad fundementals, too much reliance on the long ball.

Dye should bat 3,4, or 5 beginning Friday. -

I hate Bruuuuuuuuce Levine. -
I am starting to like BDolg. I really hated Wills. He was so far up the organization's butt that you couldn't take anything he said seriously. That being said, figure the Score to put their own guy in there. JHood would be a good choice.
