I hate to say it, but I feel that the fate of the season rests on this afternoon's game. Our supposed ace on the hill against the worst team in the league. If we can't take a series from the Royals down the stretch with a team breathing down our neck, how the hell do we expect to play in New York or Boston or St. Louis in October. No excuses, today the Sox MUST win, or else I feel they are probably done. After the loss last night, I almost wasn't mad, I kind of expected it. We are playing with no fire or intensity right now and Cleveland is playing great. Oh, and yes they can play .800 baseball the rest of the year.

The Magic Number NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEDS to be 10 before we get to Minnesota or I think we might be hoping we can clinch by the last game.
-
This team is embarrassing. Ozzie wants to b**** about fan support. They haven't played lately like they deserve fan support. Cleveland is on fire right now, but for the Magic Number to stay stagnant for four days when two factors can reduce the number (Sox Win/Cleve Loss) is a joke. We need to go for the throat, not pray we hang on. We suck right now. Nothing is working. Carl Everett is just a dog this month. Iguchi is severely slowed in the second half. Pods doesn't steal any more and our oh so sacred pitching staff. Mark Burehle is not an ace, Jon Garland is not an ace, Freddy Garcia is not an ace. Right now, we have two #2s(MB & Freddy), one # 3 (Garland), one #4 (Count), one #5 (BMac), and one guy who should be shut down for the year (Duque).

I love the Sox and have been to 12 games this year. That being said, should the media direct interest or reflect interest? If the Sox drew 3 million this year, there would be no negative attendance story. But we won't draw 3 million this year. Face it, like it or not, there are more Cub fans or people who call themselves Cub fans than Sox fans. And all this talk about shorter lines, blah, blah, blah is crap. Do you really go to the game hoping no one is there and the crowd won't sound super loud to spark the team? Everyone should want to see a full house. Perhaps you would like the Sox to have 14K for thier first playoff game so we can look like the laughing stock of the league.

I have been to 12 games this year. I don't want to hear the team b**** about attendance. The unfortunate part of playing so well and being so good all year is that we are really not in a race. Personally, I believe the fans are just waiting for the playoffs. The regular season is just going to drag on for the rest of the month. As for this weekend, I guarantee, they will not sell out one game. And don't forget Sunday is the opening game of the NFL, the Sox should be thrilled with 25K on Sunday. I just hope if we clinch at home, we sell out that night. I will try and be there for that celebration.

I am going to two games between 9/19 and 9/25 homestand. I would love to see them clinch. I was there in 93 when they clinched over Seattle. I also hope to God they have a full house on clinching night. No excuses nothing, a championship team deserves a full house.

Nearly all of the shirts being sold between the L and the park are anti-Cub shirts. My favorite, even though I wouldn't wear it, is the Wrigley Field, World's Largest Gay bar.

I was there and for once I actually enjoyed the small crowd. All the games I have been to this year have been sold out: Orioles, Dodgers, Angels, Red Sox, Yanks, Cubs, Twins, even a day game against Detroit. So I enjoyed parking in the State Street lot for free last night. That being said, when I am at the game Sunday, I sure hope the crowd is better. Next week vs. The Royals, forget, back to Blackhawk crowds.

I am a die hard fan. I am going to my 11th game tonight. But, that being said, I am angry with this team right now and this board gives fans the opportunity to vent about what they do and don't like about the team. I am sick of Ozzie's crappy third game lineups. I am sick of Uribe swinging at anything thrown no matter how far out of the strikezone the pitch is. I am sick of Damaso Marte. I am sick of Joe Crede's popups in the infield. I am sick of Paulie grounding into double plays. I am sick of Carl chasing every low and away pitch. I am sick of how we have abandoned our "smart ball" style. Other than that, I love my White Sox. -
I hate Mariotti, but I COMPLETELY agree with his assesment today. He is dead on. We are not officially choking yet, but we are starting to gag a bit.

I loved this team the first half. Now I almost can't stand to watch them.

This team makes me ill lately. I don't want to hear anymore about what the Indians would have to do to catch us or anything about the loss column. We are sucking lately and are holding on for dear life. Blum, Uribe, Harris, Ozuna all in a row is almost giving away 4 innings to the other team in a game. We have so many holes in our line up you can drive a car through them.
-
I thought I had heard that when a starting pitcher gets his first win, the team pours beer over him after the game. Is this correct? Does anyone know if BMac got the beer shower last night?
-
Today is huge for us. We need to put a bad team like the Rangers away. Our game 2 lineup will be so pathetic I'm afraid to see it. You can guarantee Timo, Willie, Widger, Carl in the OF, Blum, Ozuna. Rowand and Konerko might be the only ones that play both games. So since we will be sitting all these guys tonight, does that mean we get the same s***ty Sunday lineup tomorrow afternoon?

Paulie and Dye have been dogging it on a few plays lately.

We are going to the 10th. Every time we give up the lead late we crap all over ourselves. Come back and play like a winner. -

It's the quintessential #2 hitter Juan Uribe. Patient at the plate. Always makes contact. Clutch hitting. -

Now we need some clutch hits. -
QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 10:08 AM) I did not know the WSox are such sticklers on team dress. When did we start thinking we were the NYY$? When Hawk announced he'd rather have Crede and Uribe over A-Rod and Jeter.

The Kids Can Choke! White Sox Baseball: You mean you didn't pay premium prices on the weekend to see Ozuna, Blum, Widger and Harris? White Sox Playoff Baseball: Just like in 2000, big lead, big thud. Grinder Rule #20: Be in your seat in time to see Crede pop up to short ... or second, or first, or to the catcher. White Sox Pitching: When have the #1 and #2 pitchers in the league ... in wild pitches.

QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 07:29 AM) I have gone to so many games this year...and spent so much time and effort on this team, and now they are absolutely falling apart. I have decided that I'm not going to get too wrapped up in this s***. I still have tickets to 3 games...I will go to those and no more. But I am not going to stress over every pitch and every inning, because its causing me major stress. Its just a game, and I need to remember that. I feel really let down. I hope they turn this around, but I'm prepared for the worst. And we have a 7 game lead...unreal how I feel. I feel your pain. Last night when we made the last out, I felt physically ill. It was like I could feel the lead slipping to 3 games by the end of the week. I don't want to hear any more of the "if we go .500 the rest of the year" crap. We should be thrilled to go .500 the rest of the year the way we are playing. Rowand, Dye, Iguchi, Crede, Everett, and Uribe are all automatic outs right now. Iguchi has had a man on second and no one out numerous times in the last week and failed to move the runner over every time. I am sick and scared right now. Freddy did not deserve what happened last night. Ozuna was the only player who any plan of attack against Santana. What the hell happened to Ozzie Ball, Smart Ball, Little Ball? I have already been to 10 games this year and I am fearing the absolute worst. Maybe the experts were right. Maybe we are a 3rd or 4th place team that just played over our heads. I hope not and I will still be watching and cheering, but I am absolutely frightened.
-
I'm sure those will be in the locker room tonight again.
-
Ouch, but championship baseball and the city of Chicago are not two things that have gone together in the last 100 years.
-
Crede was just getting is long, loopy popup to the 2nd baseman swing down to a science.

QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 08:04 AM) Sorry.. but that's complete bulls***. Jay has not been saying any such thing and has not once yet said "I knew it..." If you're going to jump on the bandwagon at least get the facts right. They are both acting like immature children. Including today's remarks by Mariotti that "Sammy Sosa also cleared waivers, but there's a better chance of Harrelson being invited to my next party, even if Metamucil is served as an appetizer." Grow up guys!
