QUOTE(knightni @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 03:45 PM) I just posted this in the McCarthy thread. I hope the short rest won't affect Jon's effectiveness. 4 days rest with the off day on Thursday, regular rest...Good move!

QUOTE(Iguana @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 09:36 AM) Then there would be no AJ or Gooch, I think. The amount of money saved by not signing him allowed KW to fill more holes. Well in theory yes, which is why I said "imagine if JR sprung..." JR could have spent the few extra millions. It was his choice. All I said was imagine if he spent those, that's all...
-
Imagine if JR would have sprung for Clement instead of El Duque...

QUOTE(sayitaintso @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 10:07 PM) That would be one of the reasons why KW might trade Joe, because he won't negoiate with BorA$$ in the offseason. So I could see the possibility of it happening, and i would understand why. I doubt KW is that stubborn. He doesn't strike me as the guy who will harm the current team just so he doesnt have to renegociate with Boras. Especially for a player that won't be making a lot...

White Sox vs Dodgers 6/19/05 Game Thread
sircaffey replied to YASNY's topic in 2005 Season in Review
Will Ozzie go with a real lineup tonight since it's on national TV or will he send our scrubs our there? -
Can we DL Orlando until September 1st, and then have him strong down the stretch and in the playoffs where he is Mr. Clutch? I just hope the Sox keep airing on the side of caution with El Duque and make sure that he's healthy in September and October...
-
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 17, 2005 -> 01:12 PM) And I am sure that his August and September numbers are pretty similar. Hernandez is money when it counts. Period. That's if he lasts that long. I have some serious doubts that if we make it to the playoffs, El Duque will even be will us...

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 17, 2005 -> 02:54 PM) Was it Todd Zeile? He always has that ass on there. There's always that guy from Elimidate and the red-haired guy from Sportscenter that tells people who to bet on in the NFL. They all suck. That's Blind Date, not Elimidate...Duuuuuhhhhh

White Sox possibly looking at Sean Burroughs
sircaffey replied to Cubs Suck23's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 16, 2005 -> 02:19 PM) I'm a Burroughs fan, but this stuff is purely speculation by a writer, imo. They identify a need and look at players that could fit the need. I'm sure Kenny does the same thing and I'd guess Burroughs is one of the names that has came up. However, Ozzie's quotes on Crede seemed like a pretty good indication that he'll be here for a while. Ozzie isn't going to come out and say yes Crede sucks, we are looking to upgrade. If Crede continues his month of June, then he won't be traded, but if he goes back to his .220 or whatever, KW isn't going sit there watching Crede stink... -
QUOTE(YASNY @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 10:13 AM) He was called up after they were established with the Sox. Point was not lost. Why would anyone be against this move? If it works out and he returns to form last year, we've solved an issue on our team without giving up any talent. Seems like a pretty darn good idea to me...

Who's Phil Nevin?
-
Twins lose makes this day that much better. Back to 5.5 up!

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 12, 2005 -> 04:25 PM) Another game, another case of why not having a back-up 1B hurting us. PK should not have been left on first after he got the single. When will KW and Ozzie wake up and realize something needs to be done? Exactly, it's the one place Ozzie is handcuffed on this team.
-
Who's on deck? Please tell me Ozzie has Rowand or Dye there instead of Timo...
-
What are the chances we'll see Rowand hit for Timo?
-
QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 12, 2005 -> 04:15 PM) I hear you but based on what will likely be out there and the fact he can spell some key players, he is a good fit IMO. And he is a gritty player. Yeah imagine us having Mack. Then Ozzies stupid Sunday lineups wouldn't look so bad!
-
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 04:14 PM) Im also not saying that the team is fragile, but unloading someone who is a leader on the team-and he is if you read the article about the K-court, they elected him as the judge and KW and Ozzie and Pk have said he is a leader in the clubhouse-may have a negative impact. Oh, I'm not talking about trading Carl. I definitely think we should keep Carl. I don't think it would take Carl to pick up a backup corner IF...Carl's very important to the team both in the clubhouse and off the bench. Without him, we have no one off the bench that strikes any fear in opposing pitchers and coaches. Having Carl on the bench available for pinch hitting with forced managers to manage differently than if Pablo and Timo were the #1 hitters off the bench.
-
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 04:06 PM) It would be extremely nice to pick up a player that could spell in those spots, but we would have to give up something for a player that versatile, and would it be worth it to us, possibly. You also have to make sure we dont make a move that alters the team's make up, as I said before KW and Ozzie said that Carl is a large part of the positive attitude on this team, and at this point, we are still the best team. If we continue with this record until the rosters expand, then we wouldnt need to make a move at all in my opinion. You can't continue to ignore a weakness just because a player is a good teammate. Timo isn't performing. Should we waste a roster spot just because he's liked? I would hope that replacing the last player on this roster wouldn't distrupt team chemistry. I would hope this team isn't that fragile...
-
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 03:56 PM) So in that situation we need a player to spell PK for an inning or two in his position after he has been pitch run for, that the situation where we would like to have more options than Ozuna or Timo, but at this juncture, just to make a move for that situation doesnt make much sense. All you can do with the best record in the MLB is wait for Gload to be ready. That situation isn't the only reason why a trade would be beneficial. Can Gload even come back a 100%? We don't know. To wait around to see IF he can, is a mistake. Picking up a 1B/OF/3B type wouldn't cost an arm and a leg. As long as that player is better than Timo, which is so hard, we improve the team. Great teams have great depth. PK isnt superman.
-
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 03:34 PM) When Healthy PK plays about 155 games a year lets say. So you are calling for a trade so we can have someone play 7 games!!!! It's not so much as to give PK the day off. It's to give this team the option at 1B. Last Sunday, PK led off the 8th inning of a tie game with a base hit. Instead of having the option of pinch running for PK and bunting the next hitter, Ozzie was forced to keep PK in the game and let the next hitter hit away. It's situations like this that has Ozzie handcuffed right now. Not to mention, when PK actually needs to the day off, we aren't replacing our best power threat with our worst hitter (Timo). If Gload is unable to go for 2 months then, KW should go out and get a player to take Ross's spot, and get rid of Timo.

QUOTE(sircaffey @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 09:40 PM) Amazing... Shingo is still quite bad... Control wise...

Amazing... Shingo is still quite bad...
-
Shingo gives up: a. 2 runs b. 3 runs c. 4 runs d. 5 runs I'll go with B...
-
WTF! Thank god you gave Timo the very necessary AB when you have one of your most important players on the bench starving for ABs...Brilliant.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 09:26 PM) Freddy made that last guy look like a complete ass. Anyone got the pitch count? 103
