  1. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Oct 9, 2006 -> 08:35 PM) Zimmerman and Atkins due to what? Zimmerman was a rookie who had a worse statistical season Crede did, while Atkins hit the hell out of the ball....in Coors. Everyone hits the ball in Coors. I will also buy very few arguments based upon defense against Crede. I haven't seen Zimmerman play much, but I've heard that he is very good defensively at 3B. I haven't heard anything at all about Atkins. IMO, Crede is top 4 among 3Bman in the majors. The 3 DA mentioned, and then Crede, and I can't say Rolen is better due to his injury troubles over the past couple years, though he probably is. Chavez was quite bad this year, but I expect a pretty big bounce year from him next year. That's next year, and not now. Zimmerman's a rookie who put up similar if not better stats than Crede...in RFK. Zimmerman should win the GG in the NL for sure. If not this year, he will have many when his career is over. Atkins road stats are sick. Worse defensively than Crede for sure, but much much better offensively.
  2. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Oct 9, 2006 -> 05:49 PM) I'd say he's top 5. Wright, Cabrerra, ARod, those are 3 I definitely would pick over Crede. Rolen, is great, but he has physical issues as well so I'd say those 2 are about a push right now. Chavez is a great player, but he had a bad year, so they are about even in my book. Anyone else IMO Crede is better than if you take everything into consideration. Add Zimmerman to the list. Garrett Atkins as well. Cabrera, Arod, Wright, Zimmerman, and Atkins then Rolen/Crede.
  3. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Oct 9, 2006 -> 12:46 PM) Why do you have Thome hitting cleanup... HE'S NOT A CLEANUP HITTER! Or did his pathetic 2nd half not drill that home enough... He was never 100% in the second half and still posted a .942 OPS. If he isn't 100% you are right, but when he is, he is most definitely a cleanup hitter.
  4. QUOTE(RME JICO @ Oct 9, 2006 -> 12:24 PM) That would be a sweet lineup. Not to mention Ozzie gets his speed obsession met with Roberts, Iguchi, and Arod 1-2-3....
  5. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 9, 2006 -> 10:17 AM) If we could get Alex Rodriguez WITHOUT giving up Crede, there aren't many scenarios I would say no to. That's what I was thinking. I think the Yanks may not even want Crede. They may want arms only. I could very well see Cotts in this deal for sure. On the other side, the Yanks may be eying Aramis to replace Arod. Garcia, Cotts, and another piece I have yet to think about could be more attractive to the Yanks. Of course, I have little doubt that if we acquire do Arod that we go cheap in LF w/ Fields, Sweeney, or Roberts. I could live with that. Roberts Iguchi Arod Thome Konerko Dye Pierzynski Crede Anderson
  6. Has any player brought in that much Major League talent before (4 solid players)? It's going to be extremely hard for the Yanks to get 3 solid major leaguers let alone 4 for Arod. No team is going to shed themselves that badly. At best, I could see a SP, 3B, and RP for Arod. Definitely not 2 SP. This is a buy low situation. I'd like to see the Sox jump all over it. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Oct 8, 2006 -> 08:11 PM) They won't try to get rid of him. Are they going to shop him? Of course, but they're not looking to "dump" him. "Dumping" and "trading" are two very different things. Unless someone wows them, they're not going to trade A-Rod, much less pay any of his contract. I wouldn't put anything by Big Stein.
  7. I think teams may actually like Uribe's contract. $4.5 mil with a team option for 2008 right? If Juan hits somewhere betweem 2004 and 2005, he'd be a pretty good value for 2008. If he doesn't, then the team can cut him lose. Any SS with Juan's ability that a team signs on the FA market will most likely get more than 1 garaunteed year.
  8. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Oct 8, 2006 -> 05:07 PM) No, I'm not. No team is going to pay him $4.5 million dollars next season to be an automatic out in the line-up. Any team could go after Alex Gonzalez, a better hitter, a better fielder, and a better player for a fraction of the price. Suggesting that he could be traded for prospects is wrong. I wouldn't call Alex Gonzalez a better hitter. Alex Gonzalez does nothing well offensively. Uribe can at least add some power to the bottom of a lineup. They both are bad offensively, but I'd rather have Juan offensively. Defensively its Gonzalez. Also, injuries have bitten him the past couple years.
  9. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Oct 8, 2006 -> 04:55 PM) Juan Uribe is valueless. He's guaranteed 4.5 million dollars next year and pretty much just sucks. Not all that much value, but definitely some teams that would be interested in Juan.
  10. QUOTE(DJ Manlove @ Oct 8, 2006 -> 04:30 PM) Weren't you complaining the entire second half about the Sox's reliance on the home run? You could say .300 BA, .400 OBP, 20 SB, 100 R, 110 RBI as well...Either way.
  11. Arod chasing 755 in a White Sox uniform. Payday in itself.
  12. QUOTE(The Critic @ Oct 8, 2006 -> 10:53 AM) The main thing I worry about is how he'd react when (not IF) jackasses like Hysteriotti start up on him. Guys like him love to grab hold of a guy and try to destroy him, and I wonder if Alex would think "oh no, here we go again" once Jaybird hung some nickname on him (Pay-Rod, perhaps?) and microcriticized every at-bat or error. There's no way of knowing how damaged Alex is from his YankMe experience. I'll definitely take his talent on the Sox, unless George wants to rape the Sox of too many quality guys. I'll tell you what Arod would do if Mariotti started up. He would laugh in his face. "That's all you got?" The NY media is lightyears ahead of anything the Chicago media can throw at him. Chicago would feel like paradise for Alex.
  13. Question is, if the Yanks didnt want Crede, would KW want to move Arod back to SS? JR did make a play for Arod before he signed with Texas. If KW wants it, there seems to be a pretty good match here.
  14. 1. Garcia 2. Contreras Garcia for obvious reasons that have been stated. Contreras because I think his value can only go down. He's getting old, quite possibly pushing 40, and was terrible in the second half. The Sox need to go after another McCarthy. A package of Figgins and Santana would be excellent IMO. I know some hate Figgins, but getting Santana and locking him in the rotation for a long time cheap would be a huge lift for the rest of the team. I would not stop at trading 1 SP. I would most definitely trade 2. Garcia and Contreras.
  15. QUOTE(cuddlyboy26 @ Oct 4, 2006 -> 09:53 PM) Well it sounds like Crede is certain to remain a White Sox until the end of 2008. That is good but it also means Fields will have to wait until he is 26 years old to be come the full time 3rd baseman for the White Sox in 2009. They'll either trade Josh or change his position. They will not sit on his talent for 3 years.
  16. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Oct 3, 2006 -> 10:21 PM) But then again they could miss out on Ramirez to a team like the Astros, or he could re-sign with the Cubs, which puts them back to square one. They could trade for Manny Ramirez, but that's a big contract to take on, plus the talent you'd have to give up. They'll go for Tejada again, but I can't imagine the O's trading him now. So they're essentially back to square one in that scenario. If they would offer Santana, Aybar and Kotchman or Adenhart for Tejada, then maybe a Kendrick and Santana deal for Crede is possible. We may have to give up a prospect on our end possibly I don't know. But it's definitely something, if KW is offered, he should certainly consider. Personally, I think the Angels would be crazy to give up both of them for Crede. I doubt they give up Kendrick.
  17. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 3, 2006 -> 07:03 AM) 5 years $50 million is a good place to start. Trade him.
  18. 52 doubles from Luis this year. I'd look into other options first, but it wouldnt be an bad stop gap solution if it came down to it.
  19. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 22, 2006 -> 11:24 PM) If I remember the situation correctly, Curt Schilling had a no hitter in the 8th inning of a 1-0 game. Ben Davis (that's right THE Ben Davis) ended up breaking up the no-no with a bunt basehit. After the game Brenley called it Bush League and cried about the unwritten rules of the game. I believe the score was 2-0, but anyways, Brenley made himself look like a jackass.
  20. If last year's team was on the field, I would. However, that team is long gone.
  21. The last time we blew up the team, we won a World Series title.
  22. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 18, 2006 -> 11:37 AM) You know what, I hate enough things about this team already I don't need a player/announcer spat on top of it. I would welcome a spat like that. At least it gives me some reason to watch the games.
  23. If I can take something from Seinfeld... You see, the thing with Ozzie is. He's an idiot.
  24. One of the major reasons Dye and Pauly are having these seasons is Big Jim. Thome may not be the player of old, but he still makes everyone around him better. Take him out and you lose much more than just his production.
