  1. QUOTE(bigruss22 @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 03:06 PM) LF---- Owens CF--- Anderson RF--- Sweeney SS--- A. Gonzalez (or Robert Valido) 2B--- Pedro Lopez 3B--- Fields 1B--- Rogowski DH--- Konerko not to bad of a lineup there, with only ss and 2b looking weak to me (owens will be better than pods, jsut give him some time, hes actually really athletic and just started focusing on baseball full time a couple of years ago) but this looks like a minnesota lineup to me, and how many WS have they won recently? Oh god. Easily a 100 loss lineup right there. Yuck.
  2. QUOTE(Felix @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 02:43 PM) In 2 years, KW has managed to trade (or not bring back) 3 of my favorite players. I can't help but think that Buehrle and BA are next. Might as well trade Buehrle. Send him to NY. If you are going to stockpile for the future at the expense of 2007, might as well go balls-to-the-wall. 2nd place is no better than 4th place.
  3. Career year/FA to be Jason Jennings nets Hirsh, Taveras, and Buchholz. BMac nets this? Garcia netted that? Tough...
  4. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 02:18 PM) Does anyone know of any other possible trades that this trade may make possible? Perhaps one with TB for Crawford. But I seriously doubt we'll see another one.
  5. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 02:13 PM) Because it's true? If it weren't for a horrible first half last year, Garland is considered one of the elite pitchers out there. Even so, he has WAY more value than Brandon. You're kidding yourself if you think otherwise. With the way KW is formulating this team, do you think it wiser to trade Garland instead of BMac, then use the extra 10 million for current players or perhaps another trade? I think personally, I would have been much more satisfied with the Houston deal than this trade.
  6. QUOTE(Princess Dye @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 02:09 PM) i'd agree McCarthy is more of a sure thing than those kids as a 2007 5th starter. i'm willing to give that up though for more later. Reword that to: "i'm willing to give that up though for a CHANCE at more later." You are still willing to sacrifice 2007 for a chance at more in 2008-2009?
  7. QUOTE(Princess Dye @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 02:05 PM) still waiting for someone to take me up on this. i think the reason people dont want to is b/c of that realization that Brandon still was a prospect himself, in a sense. waiting for his coming-of-age. yet now he was the 2007 sure thing? Sure thing to do what? He's a much bigger "sure thing" than Floyd or Danks. Thats for damn sure.
  8. QUOTE(Pauly8509CWS @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 02:01 PM) I'm feeling like these guys are going to be packaged for a larger deal. But who knows, I don't like this initial deal if it's by itself, but if KW can combine these prospects in a trade for a superstar or something, like Tejada, then maybe I like it a bit more. So I'm going to wait on this a few days before I make judgements. Bedard instead of Tejada...
  9. QUOTE(Princess Dye @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 01:59 PM) McCarthy starts for a whole year: honestly, give me his end of year stats. HONEST NOW After what we went through for the past decade with our 5th SP, it makes absolutely no sense to trade the thing you have that resembles a consistent major league SP to create the debacle we all know too well. I personally don't view Brandon as a savior, but I do believe he was capable of adding relatively consistent performances in the 5th spot. Danks and Floyd both have issues that need to be worked out.
  10. QUOTE(Princess Dye @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 01:55 PM) everyone loves BMac for 7 games he pitched for us in 2005. 1.69 ERA. everything else from him has been here or there. now if you take the emotion of that 2005 year out of it, which KW has to do as a job.... you will give that player up for top flight prospects. Not if you want to win in 2007.
  11. Good. Run this team backwards. We might as well ship Buehrle to New York. "Bring the bulldozers in. Turn this place into a parking lot."
  12. QUOTE(Felix @ Dec 18, 2006 -> 09:04 PM) Except Pods sucked in 2006, and the White Sox still won 90 games and had one of the better offenses in the league. Shows you how good the offense actually was. The Yankees are probably the only other team capable of putting up stats like we did without a competent leadoff hitter.
  13. Dont know why anyone would think this improves our club. Brian Anderson in CF>>>>>>>>>>Haeger/Floyd/Broadway/whatever as the 5th SP
  14. I'd rather get Jeter and not give up Crede.
  15. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Dec 10, 2006 -> 11:28 PM) Vazquez is also more expensive than Garland. I think he's $12.5 million in 2007 and then its arbitration in 2008, and its very rare a guy doesn't get a raise under that scenerio. So Vazquez could be a 1 year guy. If I was KW, he would have been the first guy I got rid of, but KW has had a hard on for Vazquez for several years. If Vazquez were to pitch as well as KW envisions, he may cost $20 million in 2008. If he pitches as well as KW envisions, he's trade value will be much higher than it is now. No way he gets $20 million. Clemens got, what $18 mil from the Astros, the highest salary for a pitcher ever. Javier Vazquez will not set the mark. THis is all beside the fact that if Javy pitches like KW thinks he can, we'll be damn good.
  16. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Dec 10, 2006 -> 11:18 PM) Vazquez has over 200 decisions in the major leagues. He had a couple of great seasons in Montreal and a couple of poor ones. The Yankees couldn't fix him, neither could the D-Backs. Even Coop couldn't fix him and he fixes everyone. Expecting Vazquez to be anything more than a .500 pitcher is being overly optimistic IMO. It took a while for Coop to "fix" Contreras. Javy's success in Aug and Sept may very well be when Coop clicked with him. We shall see.
  17. If we deal another SP, we better upgrade the leadoff position. We can still win if only have reliable (proven) SP, but we are going to have to resort to a 2000-like style except with a better bullpen.
  18. QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Dec 8, 2006 -> 05:10 PM) The guy is a big game pitcher and a horse. Is he even 26 yet? If Petitte can get $16M for one year, Zambrano will get well over $20M. He could rival A-Rod with the goofiness of his contract. Say what you want but he could be the best pitcher in baseball bar none by the end of this season. If all these guys hit the market next year, I could see the contracts becoming realistic again.
  19. QUOTE(Soxman72 @ Dec 7, 2006 -> 09:27 PM) -I don't believe he will be happy until he is on a team like Tampa or Pittsburgh where he can be the lone Superstar and not have the pressure of the media. Arod waived his no-trade clause to get out of Texas so he could go to New York. Your statement is just about the opposite of what Arod, himself has chosen to do thusfar in his career.
  20. I just figured out the organization's plan. We are going to rebuild entirely. Then we are going to sign Bonds. That way we still draw a lot of fans. Still get a lot of national TV coverage. It's genius!
  21. "Hey Kenny...You ripped me off for Thome. You've got to make it right." "Ok.."
