  1. That would have to be some serious "young pitching"
  2. QUOTE(KevHead0881 @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 12:20 PM) To Rogers' defense, he did write this about a month and a half ago, when Dempster still hadn't blown a save and Bobby was still gaining velocity and was less than dominating. I'm pretty sure that if he made his All-city team today, Bobby would be a no-brainer. Exactly...
  3. If Shields doesnt come with him, then why bother? Pods is here for this season. Perhaps Figgins in the offseason, but he is not needed right now...Give me Shields or give me no one.
  4. Lou is horrendous. He has always been like this since he started announcing. He needs to get back to managing so I don't have to hear his game calls. Absolutely terrible...
  5. Buehrle Contreras Konerko Thome For sure. Cant see how any of them will be left off. Then, you gotta think Crede and Dye would be in, but its gonna come down to getting reps from each team. Ozzie might opt to go with pitchers from the less fortunate teams and get Crede and Dye on the team. Anyways, I say all of them are on it.
  6. QUOTE(BHAMBARONS @ Jun 23, 2006 -> 10:19 PM) Well it looks like all Smoltz deals are done after his injury. Looks bad "It took me coming out for us to win," joked Smoltz, who does not believe his injury is serious. "I'll take it, and I'm sure the team will take it."
  7. QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Jun 23, 2006 -> 02:49 PM) Its great that the Sox are able to ignore the "controversy" with Ozzie and playing damned good baseball. In some ways, it may be good ALL the attention is on Ozzie.
  8. How will we score in the bottom of the 6th? Let's take some guesses... I say a single by AJ drives in Pauly...
  9. I would love to hear the thoughts running through LaRussa's head right now. I pray he puts them out after the game. They have to be priceless...
  10. QUOTE(WCSox @ Jun 21, 2006 -> 12:29 PM) Interesting. That would certainly be bad news for us. They have an $82.6 million payroll and would have to pick up about $4.5-5 million of Smoltz's contract. Will Illich spend the money? Bad news? I would love for the Tigers to make that trade. I can stand a half a year from a declining John Smoltz if it gets the next 5 years of Zumaya out of the AL. Smoltz is not what he used to be. A move to the AL would show this even more. Sure the Tigers improve for this season, but they lose a lot for the long run. Zumaya is special.
  11. QUOTE(WCSox @ Jun 21, 2006 -> 11:19 AM) Sure, that would be nice. But if the D-Rays want young, inexpensive players, Anderson would probably be one of them (along with Fields, Broadway, and maybe Sweeney). This would especially be true if the rumors about them wanting to move Rocco Baldelli have merit. As I said in my original post, I would EVENTUALLY offer Anderson (along with the rest of those guys), but that's about it. Aren't the D-Rays rumored to be wanting mostly pitching for Crawford? With what they have in terms of minor league OF, I doubt Anderson would be one of their targets. Fields would be higher up than Anderson in my opinion, then the rest of what they would want would be pitching. If a trade is made for Crawford, then I think you would see Anderson paired with him for a long long time.
  12. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Jun 20, 2006 -> 09:38 PM) I was thinking the same thing. It's the principle of things. It's worth a couple games for Riske.
  13. A nice 20 spot would be fulfilling...
  14. Ha, DET only put up 10? Those pussies...
  15. QUOTE(BobDylan @ Jun 19, 2006 -> 12:10 AM) Am I the only one who doubts Garland will be moved in the off-season? Let's say he pitches the second half lights out as he did all year last year...do the Sox move him then? How do you figure? Garland is a proven major league pitcher who can toss 200 innings. Madson has proved? No, they move Garcia then. One of them will be moved. I think there should be little doubt in that. Garcia or Garland. If Garcia and Garland's contracts/contract demands are the same then whoever performs better this year will be kept. If I had to guess, it will be Garland that will be moved (younger, longer contract, no ties to Ozzie).
  16. This guy's a boob, but Contreras isn't likely to end the season with a sub-3.00 ERA. Which screams, who cares? He'll start the all-star game, win 18+ games, win a Cy Young award, win a game in each playoff series, and collect another ring.
  17. Cinci would have to eat a helluva lot of salary. Unless Jerry ups the payroll another $15 for this season alone, no way KW neglect the bullpen to nab Jr. Although our lineup would be something from Xbox.
  18. "The Sox are in the midst of a 32-game run that sees them play the Indians, Rangers, A’s, Tigers, Astros, Blue Jays and Cardinals and Reds." Ooooooh nooooo....1 playoff team in the 32 game stretch. I'm scaaaaared. What a jackass.
  19. From the same article... "With the Marlins in the budget basement is there any chance they would move Dontrelle Willis and Miguel Cabrera? And if so, could the Sox get a deal done trading McCarthy, Fields plus and Anderson or Owens for Cabrera or going after Willis by trading Garland or Garcia to another team for good prospects and trading these and an Anderson or Owens for Willis? --JD, Chicago I think Cabrera has the better chance of being dealt, but it's hard to get a read on the Marlins, who held onto A.J. Burnett last summer. McCarthy, Fields and Anderson/Owens is way too much for Cabrera, especially with McCarthy's value." McCarthy, Fields, and Owens for Cabrera being too much? I would do that in a blink of an eye. Cabrera is some kind of good.
  20. Pablo is the ultimate bench player. I don't know how you can be so good playing sporatically like that. He's incredibly valuable...
  21. QUOTE(knightni @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 01:02 PM) Maybe SD will take less now. Stephen Randolph for Linebrink....KW work is done.
  22. With the current state of the bullpen, many would welcome Marte back with open arms. That's not such a bad thing right now...If its true...
  23. Riske being equally if not a little tougher on LH hitters is also a bonus. Don't have to play the match-up game with him as he's held LH hitters under a .200 baa the last 3 seasons (average). Righties hitting .233.
  24. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 12:09 PM) Offman just confirmed it. This is just ridiculous...We had all been mentioning Roberto Hernandez, Borowski, etc., etc. the past week and we get a guy better than all of them for basically nothing. No prospects lost. Still plenty available to go after a top reliever is one becomes available or a CF if necessary...Fantasmic!
