I think if Joe puts in a solid year .275-25-90 and the White Sox win the division again, Joe will win the GG. The recognition Crede got in last year's playoffs has set him up to win the award if he produces well.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Apr 30, 2006 -> 01:18 PM) Pods scored 80 runs and drove in 25 last season. The pitching is what made the White Sox World Champions. Well, duh...I am saying, how Pods went, the offense went. That is not the case this year. Thus, we should not be extremely worried about Pods' performance.

QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 30, 2006 -> 10:32 AM) Our spark plug last year was our pitching. If Pods can't succesfully steal, that's fine. Stay on the base, and try to go from first to third on a single or try not to hurt yourself jogging around the bases on a Thome homer. It's unacceptable how bad he's become on fundamentals. How can you continue to fail to get every bunt attempt down? Also....maybe he needs a bigger glove, but he seems to struggle at picking the ball up off of the ground in the outfield. The pitching wasn't what made the offense go. Pods was the sparkplug to the offense last year. Yes he's struggling, but that doesn't worry me as much as it would if this was last year. Not so much because I believe he'll come out of it (Not a big believer in his talent), but because of the fact we don't rely on him as much.
-
All I know is we are 16-7 with our "sparkplug" not sparking...Pods was a huge need for us last year, but this year, his importance on offense has diminished significantly in my opinion. I'm worried about his personal performance, but as far as it effecting the overall team outcome, I'm not as worried.

Pauly, Buehrle, Jose, Thome, and Iguchi
-
Nope he doesnt. And you can't write him in or else he takes the place of Konerko...I say go for Konerko and then Thome will be chosen by Ozzie! I also suggest making this an "Important Topic" and sticky this...Lets get it going.

April 10: White Sox @ Tigers Game Thread

QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Apr 10, 2006 -> 11:59 AM) Yeah, that's pretty funny. Little Jimmy is a .280 hitter if he's lucky, though. That means that he's gonna fail in 72 out of every 100 ABs. I'm pretty sure that Kong will have plenty of RBI opportunities. I dunno, just call it a hunch. Let's just say roughly, Thome will get 150 hits. He will also walk 90 times. So he's on base 240 times. If you subtract out 40 HR from his hits, Thome is on base 200 times in front of Konerko. Yes, Pauly will have his opportunities. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 10, 2006 -> 11:35 AM) BTW, what the hell did the Cardinals do this offseason? Talk about a team getting worse. They have some room to decline. -

Can we start this season over? Please? -
QUOTE(Wealz @ Apr 6, 2006 -> 12:32 PM) I think Ozzie is an excellent tactical manager. Logan facing Hafner yesterday was the right call because you have to find who he's capable of getting out. Logan has to get the Hafner's of the world out or there's no reason to have three lefties in the pen. Up 1 in the 8th inning to a division rival is not the time to be finding out whether Logan is good or if he's trash. There are much much better times to see what Logan has. Win the game first and foremost.

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Apr 5, 2006 -> 11:02 AM) It shouldnt matter what address you used. Me and my friend in Texas use the same account. Im blacked out for whitesox games and he is blacked out for Rangers/Astro games. So it shouldnt be a problem once you move. You can get around blackouts. I have never missed a White Sox game at college even though I live in Chicago technically. Just change a little something on your computer. To find out what, PM me.

QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Mar 28, 2006 -> 12:13 AM) Also, Duaner Sanchez = product of Dodger Stadium (or whatever it may be called now, I don't care about these things), not Shea. Which is just to say, yes, I noticed that, I thought about that. Okay, fair enough. But he looked darn good there. I think he'll be at least decent at Shea. Also, Jay Seo = not really so bad. The Mets are not great talent evaluators, but Pedro + broken clock, etc. Sanchez has some filthy stuff. When he pitched against us last year, I was impressed. Hawk and DJ were as well. Sanchez could turn out to be a helluva pitcher. And he's pretty young (26). I think he'll be one of the Mets best relievers next season.

So good-ole Carl says that they Yanks won back-to-back because they kept the "core" together. That must mean that Carl's crazy mind thinks that he, Frank, Willie, and Aaron were part of the "core." I find that hilarious...I can understand Aaron, but let's face it, if Carl didn't know Kenny cut the fat on this team from last year, he's even more full of himself than I thought. Oh Carl...Thome, put this moron to shame.
