QUOTE(bmags @ Dec 3, 2005 -> 06:16 PM) i totally believe he could get 400 at bats here, our subs were used so much last year, i mean critical series ending games we'd have like 4 starters out there and five subs... Which is why we need to get Mueller.

We hate Boras because he drives prices up of our favorite players who then in turn become to expensive to keep on our favorite teams. It's not the same thing as Dell selling computers. If Dell monopolized the market of computers and drove the prices up then you would hate them. Boras holds the product we want (Crede), and will drive the price up on him.

Wow...Thome and Pauly back-to-back...Mmmm Mmmm good.

Fat chance

This is the worst idea I have heard probably ever. 90% of the team would play CF better than Everett.
-
It just smells too fishy right now to not think Pierre is a main target. Ozzie wants a new 2 hitter with speed, Ozzie is familiar with Pierre, and we just traded our CF. Who knows...

QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 03:11 PM) You forgot to add Buehrle Garland Contreras Garcia B-Mac Can you say dynasty?? Everything is set up for an amazing off season. Wow. Exactly what this team needs, and what Ozzie wants is available. -

Anyone else think this makes Konerko's decision easier meaning a decision to stay? With Thome hitting in front of behind him , he's gotta love that. -
QUOTE(YASNY @ Nov 22, 2005 -> 07:22 AM) No. I think it's likely he will be traded. I just don't think he'll go to Florida for Pierre. Yep, he gone...But I would think Rowand goes to Philly for Thome. Then Marte for Pierre. That's really the only sensible thing I see out of this cluster of rumors.

Bob Nightengale: Sox Tell Phills They Want Thome
sircaffey replied to Wealz's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Nov 22, 2005 -> 09:24 AM) Yes Phils, I will give you my ace of the second half last year, and a top tier defensive OF'er for your injured slugger who may not have any good at bats left in him, and who you need to move to make room for your phenom. Yes, sounds like a deal. You forgot the part where Thome will only accept a trade to a few teams. Even more reason to give them that package. -
Does anyone have a link to past financials like payroll and revenue for the Sox?
-
QUOTE(TheBigHurt @ Nov 18, 2005 -> 01:55 PM) In love with this lineup. I think Ozzie would give his left nut for that lineup...

Bob Nightengale: Sox Tell Phills They Want Thome

It's extremely early in the off season. Would you expect them to be asking for mid-level prospects right now? In due time my friends. In due time. -

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 17, 2005 -> 11:50 AM) Seriously though, I'd like to see use re-sign PK, trade for Thome with some salary taken by Philly, and re-sign Big Frank to an incentive-laden contract. One of those two DH's (Thome or Thomas) will be healthy, most likely. If both are, great. Thome can spell PK at 1B and Thomas can DH behind Thome and pinch hit. Yes, I realize this is an expensive option, but to me it's the best-case scenario right now. And completely against Ozzie's style... -
QUOTE(illinilaw08 @ Nov 16, 2005 -> 02:34 PM) Pods/Pierre have 2 of the worst arms in the Majors. You can hide 1 arm, you can't hide 2. Exactly, plus they are weak slap-happy hitters. No thank you.
-
How is Pods/Pierre hitting back-to-back as well as playing defense next to each other intreguing to anyone?
-
QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Nov 16, 2005 -> 01:33 PM) Ozzie makes the proclamation he wants a new #2 hitter. Did he have Pierre in mind? Pierre might be growing to big for the Marlin's purse-strings. What would it take to pry him from the Marlins? What will it take to sign him to a multi-year? A Pierre move would send Dye to either 1B or DH depending on whether Kong resigns. Dye had DH does not exclude the possibility of re-signing Thomas for DH. Dye could play DH, backup 1B, & backup RF. With the way Ozzie likes to use his bench Dye would still see 400 AB's in such a role. Jermaine isn't backing up anyone. If Pierre is the player Ozzie wants, KW will talk some sense into him.

Levine says there's a lot of interest in Marte
sircaffey replied to SSH2005's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Marte's time in Chicago is up. Ozzie coming out and saying he was afraid to pitch Marte at home because the fans get on him so much is much like our Northside friend's problem with Hawkins. If Marte comes back, the fans will expect perfection out of him, and if they don't get it they will boo him every time he screws up. That is sad, but true. I can't envision him back with the club. -
QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Nov 8, 2005 -> 03:22 PM) I'd want to agree...but it's hard for me to do so. It seems like Oz has a ton of respect for Frank, as he should, and I am just not sure he'd want to not have him on the roster. That platoon would be fun as hell. You'd get like 50-60 homers from that, and probably 140-160 RBI. That's just f***in ridiculous. Frank has always stated he needs his ABs. Frank isn't a part time player and neither is Thome. To think that they could perform at their peak while splitting time is pretty extreme. With that said, I would love to have Thome.

SCOTT EYRE!

QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Oct 30, 2005 -> 08:57 PM) I just don't see us signing any major FA outside of Paulie, or maybe an outside chance on Giles if we don't resign Paulie (probably more of a pipedream). It simply isn't that strong a class, especially when it comes to position players. If Paulie were to walk, I think it'd be a lot more likely that we add a big bat in a trade (ie Overbay, Thome, Delgado, Dunn, Huff, Helton, Sweeney, ect). Exactly. None of the FA choices exactly are jaw dropping at least for DH that is. You got to remember, you gotta get someone who's willing to be a DH. I doubt that Giles is willing to become one. Philly is most likely dying to get Thome off the roster for Howard. I would love to see Thome here. Delgado as well, if Florida wants to dump him. Those two are guys that might not cost an arm and a leg (as far as trades), and both are better than the alternatives on the free agent market. Nonetheless, should be interesting to see what happens.
-
Does anyone really see us going the free agent way? Eyre is the guy I could see KW getting from the market, but anyone else I think comes through trade.

QUOTE(redandwhite @ Oct 30, 2005 -> 01:42 PM) I think Pedro would convince him. Sportscenter was talking about this midseason, and said Manny doesn't want to play for the Mets, even with Pedro. Now this is Manny we are talking about so he could change his mind in a day, but still...
