QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 30, 2005 -> 04:27 PM) Ask the schmucks if they know who he is cause I think they are nuts. If he was some god of a prospect (not saying he's not a good prospect, honestly I don't know) he wouldn't have been throwing strictly out of the pen in rookie ball. Everyone has to start somewhere, but for them to say he'll be in AA is laughable. The guy has yet to start a game in the minors. He has pitched in 16 relief games. Makes you wonder about the so-called rumor and whether it's true or not...Of all minor leaguers in our system why would this guy be picked. Perhaps there is some truth to this mlbrumors rumor. Or maybe this is just the beauty of making up a solid fake rumor.

Just a side note not pertaining to the actual trade but... What would getting Tejada do for the White Sox as a business? All the talk this offseason for the Cubs has really only been about possibly getting Tejada. Then we get him? Not only would we have national name to go with the franchise, but we basically cut off the Cubs' balls this offseason...(not advocating the trade one way or another, just merely thinking about the ramifications)

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Dec 30, 2005 -> 01:18 PM) Yes, we're better off now. I still don't want to imagine what happens if there were to be an injury. We have no legit backup plan. I trust that KW would have a 6th option in mind. He always has options up the ying yang. If he traded our 6th SP, I know that I will rest easy knowing that KW will have a 6th option in mind. KW has about every senario worked out, I believe...

Jon Garland signs a 3 year extension

WTF? What year is it? How long have I been asleep? -
QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Dec 27, 2005 -> 01:46 PM) I disagree. In terms of straight player values, Manny is a much more valuable player to the team's overall production. The difference is that Boston signed him to a ridiculous contract that overpays him, while Prior is still on his rookie deal. Prior is more moveable entirely because of contract value. If Manny were a FA and not attached to such a monster deal, or if the Red Sox payed it down to $14 or $15 mil, his value is a lot higher. Regardless of the contract, if you put Prior on the Red Sox and Manny on the Cubs last season, I'd say that the Red Sox are around 90 wins at best, while the Cubs would probably actually be over .500. Putting Manny in that lineup would make it pretty impressive, albiet the pitching would to too weak for them to get much higher than a high-80's win total. That Red Sox lineup would go from being one of the best in the league to merely slightly above average, and the improvement in the pitching staff probably couldn't counteract the loss of a massive bat. If Schilling were healthy the following year that might be another story because the Red Sox staff would have some monster potential, but I digress. Isn't that what fathom said. He said Manny is the better player, but his value right now is lower than Prior's. Put it this way. There are 2 maybe 3 suitors that would be interested in Manny right now. There are 30 that would be interested in Prior.

Apparently Chicago police aren't cracking down enough on crack sales in Chicago...

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Dec 22, 2005 -> 11:10 AM) Haha. Yes, veinte means 20. Unfortunately, Coop is not god so I am expecting 12-17 wins for Vaz. Don't go too far out on a limb...

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 11:44 AM) Which is why I think Kenny will wait for the deadline. That's when you could rip off teams for their prospects. You really think KW would be one to trade away from his major league team mid season and make it worse? Unless he gets major league talent back, I highly doubt KW would be willing to do that. That is, unless we aren't in contention, knock on wood.

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Dec 19, 2005 -> 02:47 PM) KW said that. KW said that Crede was doing well in the offseason and that he will be good to go. The thing is he said that he couldn't go into the season knowing that something bad could happen that he previously knew about, without doing something to back it up. Buts its possible KW doesn't know what hes talking about. I mean he's only the GM KW never downplays anything to the media...

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Dec 19, 2005 -> 02:24 PM) I was talking about his three year splits. Look at those. 5 point difference in OPS I'll even give you the page ESPN Yes overall his season are "somewhat" similar but if you break it down season to season, home and away are way off each season. They total similarly but Crede has never had a season where his home and away stats have been similar (in the past 3 seasons). EDIT: 2005 AVE-34 pts lower at home than on the road SLG-25 pts lower at home than on the road OBP-43 pts lower at home than on the road 2004: AVE-42 pts lower away than at home SLG-77 pts lower away than at home OBP-45 pts lower away than at home 2003: AVE-42 pts lower at home than on the road SLG-4 pts higher at home than on the road** OBP-45 pts lower at home than on the road Where in those does it show Crede is consistant at home AND on the road?
-
QUOTE(jphat007 @ Dec 19, 2005 -> 02:17 PM) I said he was "consistent" between home and away. Which he was. I didn't say he say he was consistent from month to month. Over the course of the entire season he was virtually the same at home on the road. AVE-34 pts lower at home than on the road SLG-25 pts lower at home than on the road OBP-43 pts lower at home than on the road

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Dec 19, 2005 -> 01:49 PM) Plus, Blalock is basically a platoon player. He is horrilbe against lefties. Under .200 and under .600 OPS last year. Just terrible. Imagine him against Santana, Liriano, Robertson, Lee, Sabathia. UGh. AWFUL. He also hit .282 with a .344 OBP in 195 ABs against lefties in 2004. Hanks never going to mash lefties, but he will find common ground.
-
QUOTE(jphat007 @ Dec 19, 2005 -> 01:49 PM) Creede is mediocre at home and away. Crede hit .235 at home this year. We gotta keep that... EDIT: Take a look at Joe's splits for the past 3 years. You will see he's either mediocre at home and bad on the road or vise versa. He is not consistant at home and on the road.
-
QUOTE(GreenSox @ Dec 18, 2005 -> 12:46 AM) We've got Crede locked up for 3 more years; there's no reason to trade him for a more expensive non-upgrade like Blalock. Kenny doesn't have to worry about signing him for 3 years, so what's the difference who his agent is? I thought Crede has 2 years of arbitration left and that's it...

QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Dec 17, 2005 -> 08:48 PM) See I am with you, I want Anderson to get a shot.. Also Ozzie wants it as well.. I highly doubt we get another CF imo. Didn't Ozzie or Hahn or KW say that they wanted to get a new #2 hitter who doesn't necessarily have a lot of speed, but more of an on base percentage guy. Wilkerson would most definitely fit into that category. This was early on in the off season so things could have changed, but I'm pretty sure one of them said that.
-
QUOTE(southsida86 @ Dec 17, 2005 -> 02:36 PM) I think that KW should wait until there is NO starting pitching left and the Rangers are desprate, then Propose a trade of Garland and Crede for Blaylock, Wilkerson, Diamond and Danks. If KW could make that deal it would be Awesome!!! It may seem unrealistic, but if they are desprate they may do it. We should ask for Michael Young too.
-
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Dec 16, 2005 -> 04:04 PM) Then the Sox are f***ed. I would welcome Carl back at the deadline. If we were making a push for the playoffs his bat off the bench would be a nice addition. There are certainly worse people you can trade for. Plus he's only on a 1 year deal this time...We won't need him though, hopefully.
-
QUOTE(ChWRoCk2 @ Dec 16, 2005 -> 11:54 PM) i wouldnt want to deal with the stros unless it involves willy taveras lidge and berkman, other than that im all for a texas or baltimore trade Oswalt, Lidge, Berkman, Taveras, or Ensberg...Other than that no thanks.
-
QUOTE(spiderman @ Dec 16, 2005 -> 05:51 PM) This could work as well, but with a lineup this powerful, I'm not overly concerned with the lefty-righty matchups... Also, I thought the whole idea of bringing in Thome was to offer protection to Konerko ? I thought it was to offer protection if Konerko left. Thome was brought in because we didn't have a 3 hitter last year.
-
If you want left righty matchups then you go with the best left hander in the 3rd spot. Blalock doesn't get on base enough to hit in the 3rd spot. Pods Uribe Thome Konerko Dye Blalock Iguchi Pierzynski Anderson If Uribe is hitting 2nd and Blalock is on the team, I believe Ozzie goes with this lineup. (switch Blalock with Dye if you want, but I believe Ozzie will opt to keep Dye there)

QUOTE(Frank the Tank 35 @ Dec 16, 2005 -> 12:19 PM) I think the best possible situation (besides Tejada), would be Garland for Blalock and one of Danks/Diamond (less than Beckett's final asking price of BOTH) and Crede for Torres and possibly another RP. We'd fill all of our needs that way. 3B, relief pitching, and a semi-insurance policy for an injured starter, albeit not a great one. That would be spectacular.
-
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Dec 16, 2005 -> 11:54 AM) You can't just remove a season from consideration when tabulating averages, that's horses***. He averages 114 RBI 29 HR .285 avg 37 2B 101 R 116 OPS+ That is sick. From SS no less...
-
If Blalock becomes part of the White Sox, how about we all spell his name right and not include a "y" in there...
-
How about top prospects? Since that's really what everyone gets upset about.
-
QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 12:27 PM) I'm asking you to play along with me and peer into the Crystal ball. Would you take Garland or the prospects if you knew you had a pretty good shot at another title with him? Either way you end up with 2 solid spects. One just comes from the draft. Obviously you would keep him if you were for sure making the ALCS, then just get the 2 draft picks.
