  1. You should. He's awesome.
  2. QUOTE (Quin @ Sep 1, 2017 -> 11:22 AM) I still hate trading Bell for cash. Hey man, that cash allowed us to consume poindexters contract to get a future 2nd that we'll trade for cash.
  3. Yep. That's why I would like to know some internal opinions on these guys.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 1, 2017 -> 10:47 AM) I know it rings hollow, but when it comes to the trade of the International player who shall not be named, what my biggest hope has become is that he is the tip of the iceberg internationally for the White Sox. When you are bringing in 14/15/16 year olds to evaluate I know the bust rate is going to be much higher, but seeing more success happening at the lower levels of the minors hopefully means that the system is starting to see results from Latin America. If we start adding that to an already burgeoning system, that would be huge for having guys flow through the system in the later stages of this rebuild. I agree. He's a major, major, major gut punch. I've been really down on Paddy because I would have thought we'd start seeing more return, but this 2016 class looks like a good year and it seems like one he was given more resources for + the beginning of the DR facility paying dividends. If he's right on Robert, that's a big win.
  5. The original reporting was from Shams that said bulls sent a second for pondexter.
  6. End of DSL Season Update: Hitters: (see bios in first post) Top tier signees Luis Robert: .310/.491/.536/1.027 slashline with 20% k rate Joseu Guerrero: .222/.290/.348/.638 with a 24% k rate and 8% walk rate Next Tier Luis Mieses: .263/.302/.320 16% K rate and 4% walk rate Anderson Comas: .291/.316/.329 with an 18% k rate and 3% walk rate. Wild Cards Kleydar Sanchez: .343/.383/.381 with a 15% k rate and a wee bit 3% walk rate. Anthony Coronado: .262/.353/.428 My DUDE. The only one beside Robert with a real slash line. Comes with your caveats of a scary 27% k rate but honest to god power with 19 doubles and 4 home runs and a real walk rate. He was promoted to AZL and in 2 games is 4/8 with a 2b and 2 ks. Lenyn Sosa was already in AZL. He hasn't stopped being pretty damn good for being a 17 year old. Slashline: .275/.333/.349 with only a 13% k rate. 4 doubles, 2 triples, 1 home run. Pitchers Caraballo: 10 more IP since last time we talked. 64 IP 38 ks and 29 walks. Herrara: Basically the same since last time. 3 more IP with 2 more ks and 2 more walks. Finished with a 2.62 ERA and 1.08 WHIP. Most legit control of these guys. Pineda: 46 ks in 64 IP, with 18 BB and a 1.22 WHIP. Also hit a lot of batters. Yordan Rosario was a 2015 guy? but in his second year he's much improved. At 18 years old he has 64ks in 71 innings to 26 walks. A 1.14 WHIP and 2.26 ERA. SUMMARY: Real guys to watch in Sosa, Coronado and would like more info on Kleydar. Of pitchers, Caraballo at 17 is only interesting one to me. BUT, the theme we saw in the 2017 Amateur draft of guys who make contact being prioritized - I'm happy with the contact we are seeing out of this group prior to their power developing. See first post with examples, but compared to 1st years of big signees such as Reyes and Nunez, this is promising. THis winter, would love if we could get some info on if the org sees any of these guys as promising.
  7. QUOTE (Wanne @ Sep 1, 2017 -> 01:26 AM) GACK...gonna be another extremely looooooooooooooong year for ASU. I so ready for them to can Todd Graham and his schtick.... First games are weird. I admire the teams that schedule big games for their first, but I think everyone should get a tune up game.
  8. I would call up Machi. He's performed well lately and see if he's worth a minor league deal. Would prefer peter up over guys like Peterson/Gillaspie. Need to prioritize time for Davidson/Delmonico, if it was me, and peter has more versatility there.
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 1, 2017 -> 09:20 AM) It is odd how much the Tigers value prospects over cash. It wouldn't have taken that much more to get a guy without nearly as much of a contract around his neck, much younger, and probably with a better future in front of him. I don't think that's quite accurate. I think the tigers are just over that threshold of where you need to be Dodgers level wealthy to have as much dead cash as that. Once they hit a certain level I think they operate closer. They also were bat heavy in a time of pitcher demand. Castellanos would be ideal in a certain market. But for Verlander and Wilson I think they did well. Missed the boat with Fulmer though. Most of the big horses have cashed out.
  10. Verlander at this year verlander is worth 20 mill. Can't believe how much Tigers got back for him, honestly.
  11. I think sox are sitting pretty to put a good team together but they need to have enough prospects that they can trade the extras for their final pieces. In 3 years we'll have our own arms race, and we'll want to be trading for whomever then.
  12. Yeah and Sox probably looked for guys they didn't feel need to protect or weren't eligible.
  13. QUOTE (Wanne @ Aug 31, 2017 -> 11:58 PM) what a snoozefest turd that was tonight...couldn't even get 4 minutes into the second half. True but I would MUCH rather have this preseason where the team looked good and competitive in games 1-3 and a stinker in 4 with none of the starters vs the last 2 years with terrible 1-3 games and a "redeeming" game 4
  14. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 31, 2017 -> 10:12 PM) It's not just mine, it's the scouts' opinions + their minor league performance I would certainly rank Yeyson ahead of him but we are talking about 40 FV guys and below, we need a lot of development just for them to become reserve INF. The guy has some power and a projectable body, about what you'd expect for 1 month of a 4.5 ERA pitcher
  15. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 31, 2017 -> 10:08 PM) Yrizzari is an actual prospect though, while this guy is just minor league filler IMO Yes, we all have very informed opinions right now.
  16. I read a write up. About what I'd expect. Sorta like Yrizzari
  17. Everytime I see AJ Puk updates on twitter I think they are about AJ Puckett and get excited.
  18. definitely not burdi.
  19. Bulls trade a 2nd rounder to acquire Quincy pondexter. Really big response to Kyrie trade. I think we're all in.
  20. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Aug 29, 2017 -> 10:38 AM) Unless the snow in the throne room was a reference to Jon Snow I think Tyrion offered to make Cersei's unborn child Dany's heir to the Iron Throne in return for the truce should see become victorious. So when he saw Jon/Dany get it on, he realized his plan could become in jeopardy if Dany were to become pregnant. I don't know if he is aware of Miri Maz Dur's prophecy or not I like this. Good stuff.
  21. It feels like Gillaspie has done better than he actually has since coming to Charlotte.
  22. I'm pro this move. Go Angels!
  23. I could see a year next year with positive performances by our young players but a bullpen/5th/6th starter being so bad that it caps our record at 78 wins.
