It just feels like every contending teams outfield is awesome though.
  2. QUOTE (ChiSoxJon @ Jul 20, 2017 -> 09:07 AM) The closest comp to him I see on this thread is probably younger Markakis...I think Sizemore is too fast for Rutherford and Abreu/Heyward have too much pop I'm not too big on Rutherford but I suppose his ceiling is a 15-20 homer/.280 guy with 10-15 steals, RF of course...I just don't see him on our future Series roster, Clarkin on the other hand I could see as a backend of the rotation guy or 'pen piece at worst and Polo has a ceiling of a backup OFer, both closer to the Show If he is actually a .280/20/15sb guy it won't matter if he's our WS roster guy, he may be the reason we some other roster series pieces.
  3. I am excited about Polo. It's an excellent name.
  4. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jul 20, 2017 -> 08:26 AM) ^this. People on here say we should have eaten money to get a better return but you just can't force a team to do that. They figured this was the best offer while allowing them to eat almost no money (just Clippard's couple million and even he has value to us to throw some innings since we need guys in the pen). The Yanks are going to be "forced" to shed salary to get under luxury tax threshold so I doubt this was an unlikely scenario.
  5. QUOTE (MnSoxFan @ Jul 20, 2017 -> 07:30 AM) That game was continued due to a past suspended game. He had that at bat weeks ago, he did not play after they resumed in the 2nd inning yesterday. Ha! Nice catch there!
  6. Yeah I disagree on catcher. For one, no org that I've seen is STOCKED with sure catchers. But everything behind Collins is where our depth is. Skoug, Alfaro, Zevala, Perez, Hickman. More interesting than it's been in a while. SS I totally agree but I think we see a pretty good shortstop enter the system around June next year.
  7. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 20, 2017 -> 06:42 AM) Hahn said they offered to eat money with other teams, but this was the best deal from a value standpoint. Unfortunatly, they can't force the Yankees to give up a better prospect return in exchange for money. But they need to get under. There is some need there.
  8. If Sox eat as much of Robertsons deal as we did on Nats proposed deal, I think we are happier with return.
  9. Also God Maeda works slow
  10. If we were playing cricket that inning we'd have gotten whatever scoring system indicates success.
  11. Man that was loud contact
  12. QUOTE (Sockin @ Jul 19, 2017 -> 08:16 PM) I'm not exaggerating in the least either. There was a margarita vendor that sat in the seat behind me to watch him hit. Sox fans are ready to cheer for something. Just have to wait 2 years.
  13. QUOTE (Sockin @ Jul 19, 2017 -> 07:57 PM) I'm at the game and you honestly would have thought Babe Ruth himself was hitting when Moncada was up. Crowd was Ooooing and Ahhhing with every pitch and there were vendors that stopped selling and sat down to see the at bat. lol I want to save this post for a year from now
  14. Can we talk about Anthony Coronado? Dude is raking in DSL with power. Was a VZ signing for like 350k
  15. Looks like a blast there
  16. It is incredible that he never gets a borderline pitch 3 years in.
  17. He's starting to settle in.
  18. Melky has fun playing baseball, so it's fun watching him.
  19. Nice. Maybe Flete goes to AA then
  20. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 19, 2017 -> 04:13 PM) Well, he's 28. I don't suspect he's going to decline from aging a whole lot between this year and his age 29 season, but I suppose you just never know. As for variability, I can accept that argument. Fair enough. Yeah I was thinking more of the vets we tried to bring in like LaRoche for that part.
  21. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 19, 2017 -> 03:15 PM) I'll be in attendance tonight! Should be an awesome game! Look out for Lasorda in front of the Dodgers bullpen. He was there last night.
  22. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 19, 2017 -> 03:29 PM) Yeah, I get it. I watch sports too. I think there is a case to be made that this guy is here to stay now. That case is backed by actual data, unlike the case of Avi, perhaps, and therefore it is reasonable to suggest that this may be the beginning of something, rather than a flash in the pan. That's all the argument is. Then folks started throwing the injury stuff into the equation, when, it probably isn't warranted in the case of Kahnle, or at least not more than any other 28 year old pitcher in his 4th year as a professional. By this measure, should we trade Rodon for whatever we can get after he gets his feet under him a bit? Since he might need tjs? It's possible he's different, but the White Sox haven't proved to me yet that they can identify the players that defy the trends of something like common decline from aging or relief variability. They will probably have to for us to actually make most of rebuild. But for now, I'm much happier that they are accepting the broad trends likely to predict performance and risk for groups like relievers and taking the safer route. Especially when they got imo acceptable value.
  23. QUOTE (yesterday333 @ Jul 19, 2017 -> 03:27 PM) Im gonna go top 15 position players and top 15 pitchers. I struggle trying to mix the list Hitters 1. Moncada 2. Jimenez 3. Robert 4. Collins 5. Rutherford 6. Burger 7. Fisher 8. Sheets 9. Adolfo 10. Zavala 11. Basabe 12. Skoug 13. Mendick 14. Cuerbelo 15. Polo Pitchers 1. Kopech 2.Giolito 3. Lopez 4. Hansen 5. Dunning 6. Cease 7. Flores 8. Clarkin 9. Stephens 10 Fulmer 11 Adams 12 Burdi 13 Guerrero 14 Bummer 15 Diaz Yeah splitting it up seems a lot easier to do.
