  1. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ May 31, 2017 -> 11:13 AM) Hickman has 5 scoreless innings. 4H 0BB 2K Weird, it said comito. Good for Blake!
  2. QUOTE (Dam8610 @ May 31, 2017 -> 11:21 AM) This is exactly the type of player the White Sox have trouble developing. I kind of take exception to this. We shouldn't rule out all future athletic players because of Jared Mitchell. We have also failed with a high intangible line drive hitting short stop in Gordon Beckham. We just developed a raw, athletic shortstop in Tim Anderson. We were bad at developing, period. But you won't get good by constantly relying on acquiring the high value prospects like Robert/Moncada who are very athletic, powerful prospects with some swing and miss. I would love another advanced approach college hitter, but we can't just draft a bunch of corner outfield/1b 15 home run types.
  3. I wouldn't draft De Oca until after round 5. Doesn't profile as anything other than a reliever.
  4. If Hahn and our scouts did not like any of the returns, I understand. But I always thought the thread of holding onto the player was empty to me. I really, really don't like holding 100% of the risk like this. As Eminor said, we need prospects. More than just a 2017 class will get us. More than a reliever swap will get us. He was the only piece capable of bringing back an A prospect with additional B/B- players. Frazier crapping the bed is as bad. You do have to keep him now, but I'd rather have spread risk out among 4 prospects and getting a "bad return" than keep a player that is great now but a risk through injuiries and fallen performance of helping us when we need gain competitiveness.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 31, 2017 -> 08:54 AM) Wait. It gets you in the playoffs, and then anything can happen. This isn't the NBA where only the best team wins. Have to say our dream playoff rotation certainly has taken a hit. Who wants to face the 5.5 ERA Quintana, Shields, Holland buzzsaw?!
  6. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 31, 2017 -> 08:56 AM) His ERA was about what his career ERA is at the moment he got lit up in AZ after 3 scoreless, hitless frames. Pretty much his last 4 innings has raised his ERA almost 2.00. It was 3.72 before he imploded. But the strikeout guys should love it. His k rate the last 2 outings is terrific. Which he had to get down after 4 bad starts to the season. I don't know about you, but being terrible in 50% of your starts isn't the best season to me.
  7. I like Longenhagen a lot for swings. He hasn't put a FV on Adell but ranked him 10th and said despite his swing and miss issues its encouraging he has already shown ability to make swing adjustments that improve his swing. He thinks he ends up as a RF/OF though. http://www.fangraphs.com/scoutboard.aspx
  8. Too good, too good.
  9. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 31, 2017 -> 08:35 AM) Q is going through a rough patch. He'll be fine. It's amazing, you have a couple of bad games and that is now what you are, ignoring the past. Avi has had a good 2 months, but he is still what he was in the past. Why do people prefer to take the suck side of things so often? More often than not, moving toward the mean occurs. Q is still a very valuable pitcher. I love Q, but he isn't having a couple bad games. He's having a bad year.
  10. So I guess Hickman was skipped not pushed back eh.
  11. Would much rather Burger / Warmouth than Hiura. And hope burger doesn't eat himself out of 3b.
  12. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ May 31, 2017 -> 07:27 AM) This isn't true. Kenny Williams isn't the final decision maker on draft picks and what they did last year isn't really Hostetler's "style". They made it a point last year to add some more well rounded "baseball players" last year. Hostetler came from Schuerholtz mold of scouting though which seemingly targets power pitchers and athletes at premium positions. Was just going to say this. I also don't think the Jared mitchell picks were the epitome of bad drafting. More the Broadway/McCullough picks were KW just wanted immediate plug and play guys for 5th starter roles. Sox just didn't invest in drafting/player development for a long time. Wasn't a single player type that killed us. It was trying them constantly trying to find workarounds.
  13. I have a feeling we'll be seeing less "Then you don't get Q!" hard bargain posts.
  14. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 30, 2017 -> 09:42 PM) Well, Hostetler's philosophy has (supposedly) changed the drafting process...so we'll know if he or KW is ultimately calling the shots still if they take Kendall over some of the other available collegiate bats that have been discussed. That's a pretty hot take
  15. I don't want to get my hopes up.
  16. I would talk myself into it. Problem is every higher k comp for Kendall I look up their college stats and see they usually walk and k equally in college. If this was OOTP though I'd probably draft him. What a red flag, but seems like the biggest potential outside of Greene in this draft
  17. Feels like we are weeks away from a David Ortiz comeback.
  18. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ May 30, 2017 -> 11:45 AM) The first thing I thought when I saw that is that he's a 19 year old kid enjoying a moment not some world famous superstar athlete. It looks like a graduation party spread except instead of "State College" it's a White Sox collage and cake. Absolutely, and that it's on the floor
  19. Thinking back to last year, Rutherford and Kyle Lewis seemed routinely ahead of us as those that fell. Interesting to think who they are over pumping now. Haseley has been at 5 or 7 seems like in every recent mock. Could be overcompensating based on the recent push of college bats. But they seemed to fall by teams that chose bigger program bats like Corey Ray where sox thought they could have a chance. Seems like the recent mocks are seeing sox miss on targets because the college pitchers are falling out of top ten. We'll see, doesn't seem like sox were served well by Houck and Faedo fading (if goal was to get bat)
  20. Hope we get some Rodon info
  21. QUOTE (GermanSock @ May 30, 2017 -> 08:35 AM) I would be very surprised if the top4 are all pitchers. The class is very weak on hitters but I think at least one team does prefer the lesser risk of taking a bat even if it means slightly less upside. Also we will likely see that typical late rising of college players and dropping of HS players. I wouldn't, that top four looks like the most set part of the top ten.
  22. Interested to hear if anything changed with advanced scouting under Renteria/org updates.
  23. bmags replied to flavum's topic in FutureSox Board
    Excited for Hickman.
  24. That said Yency Almonte looking pretty good.
  25. Safe to say Robert is psyched to be a white Sox, and I don't know why but this made me laugh https://instagram.com/p/BUqKZ_xBZwd/
