  1. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Dec 27, 2016 -> 09:06 AM) I think posters are in for a world of dissapointment if they think we'd get both Torres & Frazier in a Quintana deal. Robertson is worth something, but his addition is not resulting in another top 20 prospect, even if we pay some cash. I think any framework here revolves around one of two pairs of headliners, with either Torres + Rutherford (more desirable) or Frazier + Mateo (less desirable). Perhaps adding Robertson is what's required to get the Yankees to include Torres in a trade, as he may be the lone "untouchable" in the system. I think the complementary pieces would primarily be pitching based, with maybe a lesser positional prospect like Andujar included. Honestly, a Torres, Rutherford, Sheffield, + package for Quintana & Robertson would be a huge haul IMO. I think expecting much more than that is completely unrealistic. Totally agree. On this board by different posters, people have expressed satisfaction if Robertson were traded for Severino from Nationals. So if Robertson were included in Eaton trade it would have been Eaton + Roberton for Giolito, Lopez, Dunning and Severino, not Giolito, Robles, Lopez and Dunning. I hope if Yanks come to bad we see Torres/Frazier, but adding Robertson just adds to the back.
  2. QUOTE (New Era on South Side @ Dec 27, 2016 -> 08:28 AM) Because of the holiday I thought that talks would resume this week and Hahn would get a deal done by the new year. We will see if that is the case, but I sincerely hope the Sox eat enough of Robertson's contract to bring back prospects with Quintana. Though you'd have to think Hahn would say to Cashman that he is getting Quintana at a decent rate so he will have to give prospects without considering Robertson's contract as too much of a problem in a deal. Any thoughts on why the Yankees want Robertson when they have Chapman? Is it a replacement for Miller? I think Yankees still love idea of a super pen and think last year just didn't work out. Chapman/Betances/Robertson would be pretty super. Re: 3 team deal, in my head this is how they go down. Pirates are and were serious about getting Q. Pirates asked and found out they need to move salary in order to acquire Q. Pirates go to teams that had called in on Mccutchen when they had discussed weeks prior, the yankees being that top team left. But you can see Yankees were probably pretty loosely interested all along unless at their price, OR yankees having been brought in felt like their package alone was better than Pirates. And yeah, unless bell was included, Glasnow/Keller/Newman is a good package but not as much after 2 other pitching heavy deals for sox.
  3. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 26, 2016 -> 02:47 PM) Yeah, that's a good point, but I think the optics of those two deals may be impacting things more than actual liquidity. There are teams that have the assets and that actually should be in a position to move them, but I feel like they are refusing to pay the same price because of the optics. It may just be a matter of waiting them out a bit longer while they try to play it cute. Speaking of : http://es.pn/2iapHPz I am totally fine (aside from the restless lack of closure) waiting on dealing Quintana if the deals presented feel to light to Sox scouts. But that's different than the assumption made often in this thread that the deadline is inherently better to deal in.
  4. QUOTE (Middle Buffalo @ Dec 26, 2016 -> 09:55 AM) Not a particularly meaningful game in 1991, but we brought a cousin from England with and he was pretty bored because the crowd wasn't as active and vocal as the crowds at sporting events in England. However, the crowd after the big hit was electric. Walking back to our car, even my cousin was caught up in the atmosphere. I just watched it again - still awesome. Oh, and the ball landed a few rows away from us. Awesome find on youtube
  5. I don't really see a great course of action for bulls, but I'd rather they keep adding because I can't take three rebuilding teams at once.
  6. http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/news/wrap....sp&c_id=cws Check out the inning by inning. I was at this game which featured peak Jose Valentin flare for dramatic and an amazing Coco Crisp catch, best I've seen in person. Also was half price night in a pretty packed stadium. Was fun.
  7. The Shelby Miller trade happened in the winter. As did the Kimbrel trade. Deadline isn't some magic wand.
  8. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 25, 2016 -> 12:08 PM) Some reading material offering a different point of view. http://www.foxsports.com/mlb/story/white-s...rts-CQ-RSS-Feed That article showed quite a shallow understanding of everything going on.
  9. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 24, 2016 -> 03:42 PM) Watch the trade happen at like 6 PM. Rick Hahn is sitting down for Christmas Eve dinner. Get's a text from Huntington "You really need Meadows and Glasnow?" "Yes. We'll give you Jones as well." "Ok...fine...Meadows, Glasnow and Newman." Hahn texts a link: Pirates the trade Marte to open up salary for Jones. (Am I joking?)
  10. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Dec 24, 2016 -> 03:19 PM) Jaguars upset the Titans today. Bears moved up to #3 pick in the draft. Woo hoo!
  11. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 24, 2016 -> 01:43 PM) I still am trying to process Pittsburgh having to clear that salary. Has to be a downer for those fans It is incredible.
  12. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 24, 2016 -> 11:08 AM) I personally think the Jays' interest is overblown and they're solely trying to drive up the price on the Yankees. Isn't their only interest a hypothesis? Not sure how that could be overblown
  13. QUOTE (reiks12 @ Dec 24, 2016 -> 09:49 AM) Pirates deal unlikely unless they can stay under budget. We thought Jerry was bad, they have a real Scrooge in Pittsburgh. I've been surprised by a lot this winter, but none more than Jose Quintanas contract being an issue.
  14. QUOTE (reiks12 @ Dec 23, 2016 -> 11:02 PM) See you all after Christmas for more circle jerking Paid programming until xmas
  15. QUOTE (Al Lopez's Ghost @ Dec 23, 2016 -> 04:17 PM) Pardon my ignorance, but are we talking about Preston Tucker? Kyle (or Kyyle)
  16. Tough but probably Tucker. May be swayed by stupid Astros fans confidence that he's already better than Quintana.
  17. And also that rosenbloom despite rabbit saying Josh bell being unlikely to come over continued to bring up Bell coming over because it was only name he probably knew.
  18. I mean, my main takeaway was the three way may have cooled but Pirates still very aggressive on deal to get done.
  19. QUOTE (Saufley @ Dec 23, 2016 -> 02:48 PM) bmags, do you have some current info on Newman? I read something that seemed to indicate a light hitting SS with limited power?? How would he compare with the SS the Cubs shipped to the yanks? Thanks. I'm no prospect expert. And Gleybar Torres is certainly superior, as he does have average power. But Newman, while little power, has plus contact skills and an advanced batting eye. You just dont' see amateurs have stats like more walks than strikeouts at young ages. He also still had 35 doubles last year. http://www.baseballprospectus.com/prospect...hp?reportid=358 70 hit tool, very good, average speed, average defense. I have nothing to know if his average defense will improve.
  20. QUOTE (maxjusttyped @ Dec 23, 2016 -> 02:41 PM) They just signed Daniel Hudson to a 2/11M contract like three days ago. I doubt the Pirates are truly that desperate to dump salary. Yeah, that seems truly harsh. THey also just signed Nova, who is about 8 million, so 14 million in two days.
  21. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Dec 23, 2016 -> 02:28 PM) A source indicated the Pirates must dump salary even if they bring in an industry modest contract like Quintana's. Thus McCutchen $27Mil https://twitter.com/MLBBruceLevine/status/812394094869749760 I feel so bad for Pirates fans. What a joke.
  22. On to the argument about how we didn't get enough hitters.
  23. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 23, 2016 -> 01:44 PM) Meadows is a great prospect. I would love for the Sox to get him, but thinking he is one of the answers to a playoff team in 2017 is half assing 101. I don't blame them for not trading Meadows, I understand the appeal, but their window is short, they need a Cutch bounce back not a Cutch trade at a bargain rate. . Yeah, I honestly feel bad for Pirates fans. They were so excited and instead of this being a sign of full on going for it it's going for it* *so long as no budget is added
  24. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Dec 23, 2016 -> 01:39 PM) Anyone know a good Yankees forum? Would love to hear their thoughts on this rumor. Riveraveblues all believe it's not true, and those that do are also trying to dump headley on us, for that, we get basically nothing. pretty dece trade. They were much more reasonable when Q was coming straight up.
