  1. Pirates may very well believe that Meadows will be better than Cutch next year and this is an "anything to keep Meadows" move. If they can't, maybe they move on to dealing Meadows with it. ... (maybe white sox are trying to sabotage deal)
  2. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 23, 2016 -> 01:24 PM) Yankees get: Cutch and Glasnow Pirates get: Quintana Sox get: Frazier, Rutherford, Newman, and Keller Thoughts? Meh, I"m not losing Glasnow for just Frazier. I'd rather take Glasnow in that deal.
  3. QUOTE (ptatc @ Dec 23, 2016 -> 01:14 PM) It does seem that way. I wonder if one team leaks it because they think they are getting screwed compared to the other two? And the longer something goes on... But with 3 way trades usually the more mlb players are involved and the more mlb agents get wind of it and etc etc.
  4. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 23, 2016 -> 12:57 PM) Well, Abreu is LIGHT YEARS ahead of Chris Carter as a hitter. That's not really a fair comparison at all. Certainly but for acquisition costs you would both be paying Abreu more and paying prospects for Abreu. And Carter still gave out a respectable .320 OBP and fantastic .499 slugging last year. Flawed but cheap player. IF you are a DH away...
  5. Hey that's kind of an interesting thought about Glasnow going to NYY.
  6. Interesting. I would put odds against this trade not because it isn't real but because I'm very skeptical of 3 way trades that get leaked prior, they always seem to fall apart.
  7. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 23, 2016 -> 12:34 PM) Back then they had incredible offense and crappy pitching. The line up they trotted out for the 2000 playoffs had 1 player with a lower OPS than .810 on the season. Then, they couldn't score. I'm glad I was young when Joe Borchard busted. I don't know I could handle watching a guy hit a .900 ops in charlotte, then decline every year after and look more and more broken. Edit: Well I guess I lived it more with Beckham.
  8. Would you rather trade prospects for Frazier/Abreu or just sign Chris Carter for 8 million.
  9. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Dec 23, 2016 -> 12:05 PM) Why doesn't it make sense for the Pirates? And maybe the Yankees think McCutchen is likely to bounce back into a 6 WAR player and quickly become more valuable than the players they gave up. I think people tend to overreact too much to one bad year. McCutchen could be an excellent buy low candidate for certain teams at the right price. I guess it's just weird to me that THOUGH it's true their offense was terrible, they have Sanchez, holliday additions, and potential bounceback from more plus additions from rookies like Frazier Judge. But their pitching is razor thin and probably terrible. I don't know. Just a weird thing to add a short term upgrade on.
  10. I guess I'm crazy, but if Rutherford/Newman are in the return, we very may have acquired 4 top 100 hitting prospects, or at the very least 3 potential top 50 hitting prospects and a top 150.
  11. QUOTE (reiks12 @ Dec 23, 2016 -> 11:29 AM) Im sure someone asked this already but.. Why does this make sense for the Yankees? Actually it has not been answered, but yankees are starf**&*&rs
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 23, 2016 -> 11:25 AM) Come on, read your own post - "this wouldn't be a bad thing but yeah it would be a questionable to bad thing". Anyway, the one thing I'm now keeping in the back of my mind telling me that it would be ok to go for more pitching is how we're seeing the price of the 1b/DH types plummet this year. You could go out and get an Abreu and a Frazier and add 70 HR to a lineup at a pretty low price right now, so if you have a couple of dynamic players from your team you could fill holes cheaper than previous. We spent big on closers, DH, and LFers, now we should have a power arm for closer and power is cheap, while we spent dimes on up the middle players like C, 2b, SS and CF. As long as we are solid up the middle the LF/RF only 1b/dh is a lot easier. But also, prior to this rebuild, had we had an Andjuhar in our system we would have penciled him in as a future 3b all star. And we still have 2 drafts to nail. But yeah, if we get Newman/Rutherford back that's like, really good prospects so (shrug)
  13. http://www.baseballamerica.com/minors/2017...Qh3KU2iwuShb.97 2017 Yankees Top Ten Blake Rutherford: #3
  14. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Dec 23, 2016 -> 11:04 AM) Which doesn't equal a top 30 MLB prospect. he's not a top 10 Yankee prospect. If he was top 5 talent, why didn't Whitesox draft him? Really?
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 23, 2016 -> 11:00 AM) Taking back Taillon makes sense on paper but yeah, there's no room in the rotation for him. So yeah, I'd be less happy about that.... Basically the end result of taking Taillon back is that by the middle part of 2018 we're going to have to trade Rodon. Did I miss a reference to getting back Taillon here?
  16. Let's chill until the final package is announced. Rutherford, Newman, Andjuhar, Diaz together would get you 90% of big leaguers. We don't know who is where or what is happening.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 23, 2016 -> 10:40 AM) So in five years we can be back to where we are now, with outstanding pitchers, but no offense or defense. What a waste. We had 2 outstanding pitchers and one with potential and then a handful of garbage and then Nate Jones.
  18. QUOTE (oldsox @ Dec 23, 2016 -> 10:25 AM) Andujar keeps showing up now. How does he compare to Trey M? Same age, Trey played at AA. I don't see a big difference, course I know little about Andujar. Here is some reading. http://yanksgoyard.com/2016/10/21/yankees-...s-one-to-watch/ Substantially out performed Trey at AA. Trey has constantly been pushed for his age limit, but this year will probably repeat. Trey isn't done yet but Andjuhar is a top ten prospect in a much deeper system so a better spec
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 23, 2016 -> 10:19 AM) Trade? Isn't Davis a free agent? Updated with Maoist self criticism session.
  20. QUOTE (hi8is @ Dec 23, 2016 -> 10:15 AM) It's "complex". I, for one, am not letting a fluid and certain to change situation force me to calmly and quietly reflect, I'm throwing everything at the wall.
  21. <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"> I have zero clue what I'm talking baout but like this for Orioles!
  22. QUOTE (bear_brian @ Dec 23, 2016 -> 10:11 AM) What is Pittsburgh getting for trading McCutcheon?? I think we are overestimating our return. I mean, in the most literal sense right now all they are getting is "keeping" meadows. So either the return for Cutch outside nats was MUCH less than we know or something else is going in from sox or yanks to pirates.
  23. I have to say, while pumped about package, totally flummoxed about whether the PIrates are giving up too much or know McCutchens value is that low, and also have ZERO clue why Yankees care about McCutchen this year. Like wtf. From White Sox perspective, getting glasnow is great, getting Rutherford back is amazing, getting back newman too I'm ripping my shirt off and letting my flabby 30 year old chest show proud, add keller and we are talkin pants at that point, men.
