  1. I like motorcycles, but they are dangerous riding correctly (with how often cars miss you), I can't believe the risky behavior people do on them.
  2. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 05:08 PM) Not really. They are sophisticated parties that were both represented by attorneys if it was a condition to his employment, it should have been in writing. If it really was agreed to by all, why was it not in writing? I cant imagine that a multi-million dollar agreement does not have a merger/integration clause. And if it does, then the entire point of having the written agreement is so that neither party can come back later and say that there were other terms to the agreement. I dont know the facts, I havent seen the contract, but I would rather be on the Sox side then Laroche's (from a legal standpoint). If the Sox materially breached his contract, why would he not sue for breach instead of retire? The fact he retired seems to suggest that he had no legal ground to stand on. Right, and even if there was a verbal agreement, really would like to know whether it was verbally agreed that kid could be there 100% of time as was performed.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 03:32 PM) That is the story I read. The Jays wanted to talk to him, and Jerry wouldn't let him. Kenny had a meltdown and threatened to quit. I heard on some program last year (inside the clubhouse?) that Jerry's main objection was how it went about, something about how Toronto's owner is friends with Jerry, and he didn't like how he approached Kenny first without talking to JR.
  4. QUOTE (Condor13 @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 03:21 PM) Just saw that the mlbpa will most likely file a grievance against the sox bc having his son with him was a condition for him to sign with the sox. Good, can't wait for the judge to way in on this crap.
  5. Right, it would basically be up to Garland to say "I'm going to withdraw consideration to allow next pres to choose their pick." But why would you do that? Being Supreme Court Justice is probably awesome as hell.
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 02:34 PM) They did tell KW to talk to him about dialing back, and he refused to listen so KW brought it up again and he quit. KW did nothing bad here, he's just being the bad guy to keep others out of the spotlight. The story is so dumb. Fathom - where did you see that Hahn/RV asked KW to talk to laroche?
  7. In case you were worried that the Republicans were obstructing this because they were honestly concerned about voters, they've come out and basically said their strategy would be to not hold a hearing, and if hillary is elected, approve the nomination so that she can't make an alternative pick. Democracy.
  8. I doubt players are going to come out against Laroche in a situation that's basically "management v players" now, they are all in a union.
  9. QUOTE (Vance Law @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 02:16 PM) He shouldn't have to worry about that. He'll always have his education to fall back on. post of the thread
  10. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 01:49 PM) Babysitting and managing a WS at the same time is cute. having your kid get a teammate more seeds is a bit distracting. Do you even remember that situation? Baker was heavily criticized.
  11. Ugh, I hate that.
  12. UGH, don't like that Rollins was named. This will not die quickly. Someone put a shiny new object in front of the sport world. March Madness? perfect.
  13. I am fine with KW doing this, but I also think it is probably coming off just like Goose Gossages rant to these players. Doesn't seem like it was handled well. I think it's nice of him to protect those that complained, but he should have realized how difficult it is to handle these things inhouse without media.
  14. LOL Completely relevant!
  15. Dick Allen - pro child labor
  16. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Mar 16, 2016 -> 08:46 PM) In 49 games with the Bears, Bennett averaged 5 catches and 49 ypg. He also had a TD about once every 3 games. I'm not sure when and where Martellus Bennett turned into this top 10 TE everyone makes him out to be. Add in the fact that he's obviously a f***ing good, I'm shocked they were even able to get what they did for him He was injured though. He was great the year before, and he both blocks well and is a good receiver. I obviously cannot understand what the practice/locker room is like, but would have rather they just made it work.
  17. Just want to throw this out there: A lot of the clubhouse talk and distractions have revolved around them wanting to swear or be off the cuff. It's probably also just a distraction in that a lot of these guys have kids and have a paternal instinct. They are probably instinctually keeping an eye on the kid and paying attention to making sure he's not bored in a way they wouldn't if he wasn't there.

  19. draw dropper?
  20. My guess - they never explicitly mentioned 100%. I'm going to guess Adam mentioned how he likes to bring his kid around the clubhouse and sox said it's an open clubhouse. Pure speculation, but thinking Sox didn't realize full breadth of it being everyday, trip, etc

  22. It's adorable Kaplan feels he can play reporter for the day!
  23. That is the dumbest agreement I've ever heard, so I imagine it's false.
  24. General petreaus actively gave up confidential personnel items in the field to his mistress and received probation, no, Hillary would not be in jail for her actions if not for Gregs conspiracy
