USA Today 2016 season predicitions
Yeah and we only play 3 of our first 13 games at home. Granted, 3 of those are in minnesota, but the others are in Oakland and Tampa. I really like how few home games there are first 2 weeks of April. FINALLY. Good work MLB.

White Sox interested in SS Ian Desmond
I don't htink anyone is relying on his power to improve, 20-25 hrs from the SS position means we are looking at 115+ home runs from this infield.

2016 MLB Draft
Reading about Missouri baseball preview. Sounds like I should try to watch them this year. Would be interested in Reggie McClain in later rounds, Tanner Houck, obviously, and our ole Montas de oca. Most of their intriguing talent is 2017 but sounds like there's good stuff like there used to be.

Antonin Scalia passes away
Rubber stamping whomever the president picks != refusing to vote on ANY appointment from president. If you were designing a government, nobody in their right mind design anything that way. That argument is the equivelant of "we should destroy the US system of government because it allows us to". All the republicans had to do was hold up anyone actually appointed. By premptively refusing they are, again, setting a precedent that our democracy cannot function under ideological parties.

2015-2016 NBA Thread
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 15, 2016 -> 01:52 PM) The Warriors keep getting mentioned too, but I have no idea how realistic that is. Again, out of that list, how do the Bulls win that? The answer is, they don't. Right. Especially as we appear to be rebuilding. We will have no true center. Washington - hometown LA - Durant loves limelight and media, it seems NY - no idea, but NY GS - best team in world

White Sox interested in SS Ian Desmond
QUOTE (MuckFinnesota @ Feb 15, 2016 -> 02:04 PM) Sorry if this is off the White Sox payroll discussion, but can someone point me to where the tweet was where the Sox offered Desmond 2 years at $11 million dollars? Sorry, knew that would get someone. That 2/11 is referring to the date this report came out.

Cool. I liked it. DIdn't love it. Scorcese tends to push the same storylines.

Wizards/Lakers/Knicks going to do everything they can.

Antonin Scalia passes away
We are talking about basically 2 sessions with 8 justices. Regardless of party, the confirmation tactics have gotten out of control. Senate needs to re-do their rules so appointments have to be voted on. They can even do "requires 60 threshold", but they have to be voted on.

I really hope so. By all accounts he's a good guy, but when he came up to the plate, I'm not sure there was anyone I had less confidence in. He looked like he was like, half the size of himself by the end of the year.

Yeah, you really should check on that LDF. That is outrageous. Without insurance, it should not cost that much.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Feb 15, 2016 -> 12:08 PM) That depends...will the Bulls get Durant? If so, I am on board with that Butler deal, haha. I love Buckets though. I think we need to move Rose and truly build the team around Butler and another star. Reality is that won't happen so I can only hope that somehow Rose and Butler can be humbled to make it work and actually make this a team. Looking at what the team will be...we dont' have a compelling reason to attract Durant here.

Don't see it as a downside that you can flank her with activism to positions you want. Liberal activism in 90s was not very developed, it had been decimated in late 70s-80s. Much stronger groups now.

So regarding Desmond. I don't think Sox are on him, anymore.

Honestly, yeah that doesn't do anything for me either. If he goes, would much rather be trading with Celts. I don't see bulls trading him thou.

QUOTE (MEANS @ Feb 12, 2016 -> 10:01 AM) A little late but last week the Toronto Maple Leafs unveiled their new logo and I designed it. It was a very crazy and surreal week to say the least. Probably my biggest accomplishment as a designer although the two locker room graphics for the last 2 Blackhawks Stanley Cup wins come pretty close too. Wow, that's awesome.

Probably worth remembering that our 2014 offense seemed exciting and explosive with Viciedo, eaton, de aza, gillaspie, ramirez, beckham, abreu and flowers. Players have better years...they need to just...have them. Could really use some career years too.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Feb 15, 2016 -> 10:47 AM) http://www.thenation.com/article/hillary-c...-peoples-votes/ This article is going to be hard for her to counter...and while it happened under Bill's watch, they were essentially a co-presidency in many respects. She can't start screaming billionaires because if you add up the Clinton Foundation coffers, that's what she will be labelled as well...and there's not many in the charity field who can identify clearly any of their accomplishments since that Harlem office was opened. If she loses Nevada, it's going to be hard to convince Democratic leadership she's not seriously wounded as a viable candidate. All the union and Hispanic votes were supposedly in her pocket. She was for the crime bill her husband signed, now against. For DOMA, then against. For a plethora of trade pacts, then against. For bank deregulation, now against. No decision for the longest time on Keystone until oil prices cratered. Notice a pattern? Is the pattern that she's actually been in public policy for 30 years, while Sanders was in the corner, holding hands with a bunch of coffee shops in burlington?
