QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 03:18 PM) That's where Hahn creeps from the shadows and says Urias, Seager, Pederson for Quintana now and undercuts the Marlins Honestly, undercutting would be removing Urias, whom they seem to have a special fondness for.

We could sign an average 6th inning reliever for 7 million at this rate.

QUOTE (shysocks @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 03:09 PM) I know this has been discussed a bunch in the Shelby Miller thread, but if this is the environment, perhaps the Sox should stop trying to patch together a playoff team next year and get on the right side of all the overpays. I feel this way as well. We have 15 WAR deficit. We don't have the money or the excess talent to cover it and keep our core. Brett Lawrie is nice, but it's a place where we covered a talent deficit with a marginal upgrade. We need shots at elite upgrades.

When media talks about available cheap cost controlled pitching, everyone talks about the Indians. I just see no smoke here. Sox aren't going move any marginal step backwards for a future haul.

Tin Anderson is my favorite.

Pirates trade 2B Neil Walker to Mets for P John Niese
bmags replied to GGajewski18's topic in Pale Hose Talk
That's a great fit. -
QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 02:09 PM) Thats a pretty big indictment for our minor league system. Explains a lot. 1) shows how much is involved in a manager aside from in game management, and why Washington had success 2) That makes me shake my head. This organization needs a revamped development program.

Reports:Mariners Acquired Adam Lind for 3 prospects
bmags replied to BlackSox13's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I like deal for both. Didn't realize how old Lind was, either. -
QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 01:20 PM) In all honesty, if that kind of overpay package still exists for Quintana, it probably only exists from the Red Sox. They have the ammo and a GM who has a history of selling prospects for dudes he likes. Agreed. And to be honest, if he had to go anywhere, I'd be happy he would go to a place where he'd be overvalued by media.

Hard to know about tickets at this point, likely around Book of Mormon where $60 will likely be starting point. Will be difficult first month for tickets. If you don't like Musicals/Theatre not sure I would tell you this is the one to start with, but it certainly seems to have been popular with a wide swath.

The lakers were totally villified. People were heavily rooting for that 03 pistons team.

Always seem to be the case with the White Sox. As soon as we have a val;uable fit to sell, we are told the market isn't good and we can't get anything for them. Then a comparable pitcher gets sold for a huge haul, and we're told that deal doesn't exist anymore.

QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 12:59 PM) I am on board with that approach. The issues I have are with spending a lot of money on guys that you don't will work in this environment and giving up 2/3 of the value you have in #3 to do so. I think the Sox could pull off a blockbuster with the Astros. Apparently Springer is being shopped and a deal that sent Q and Robertson from the Sox for Springer plus a package of prospects that included guys like JD Davis, AJ Reed and Michael Feliz. Next years team would not be much better, but in the spring of 2017 the Sox would be really poised to make some noise. C ?? 1B Reed 2B Sanchez SS Anderson 3B Davis LF Eaton CF Thompson RF Springer DH Abreu SP Sale SP Rodon SP Feliz SP Fulmer SP Johnson/FA/Danish/Beck CP Montas RP Jones RP Wendelken RP Webb RP Petricka RP LHRP RP LHRP I agree. Honestly just don't see the sox being able to improve in enough areas through marginal upgrades in FA/Trades each year until we lose sale in 2019. We are a lot closer to contending trading Q and praying for Fullmer to be good than keeping Q and having no ability to bring in elite talent.

QUOTE (South Sider @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 11:07 AM) To anyone worried about losing Trayce: Not 24 hours ago articles came out saying he was going to be given a shot at CF in ST. Obviously, this doesn't completely preclude the Sox from dealing him. Nonetheless, I doubt that the Sox would deal him after not being too far removed from comments like that. I'm pretty happy about that, too. I'd like our organization to be the first to see if Trayce can make the adjustments required to be a good major leaguer. I'm not ready to trade him, at this point. I think the sox may keep trayce, but that sounds like classic use of media to try and hype up a player for trade.

Judge deciding whether to reveal police shooting video
bmags replied to southsider2k5's topic in The Filibuster
They great thing about cynical politicians is you can actually get good reform out of them when they feel their necks threatened. Today's presser was promising to me. -
It kind of bothers me that the white sox, of all places, cannot try out to see if Trayce is something worth keeping.

I feel like this must be what those 77-78 portland teams were like.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 09:09 AM) Bruce is really good at waiting until something comes out, and then saying he knew it all along. He is either the worst reporter in the world, because he won't break a story, or he is a liar. I'll let everyone else be the judge., Yeah but he had a good deadline last year, so its hard not to pay attention.

Can't keep up with the thread, but from the SSS article on this, it looks like they are implying Lowrie may have just never been good with the glove, and was given credit for shfits that allowed him to make plays he otherwise wouldn't have made. That went away and last year happened. http://www.southsidesox.com/2015/12/9/9877...or-brett-lawrie

I'm excited by this haul for Atlanta. I'm terrified by it too. I feel like this game is being played and the sox are in the corner playing with their blocks.

I'm going to guess he may get 16 per thou, but can't imagine 4 years

Rangers “Surveying” Rival Clubs On Prince Fielder
bmags replied to BlackSox13's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Really not at all interested and this seems very much like the rangers version of "sox shopping around laroche" -
I am in favor of us signing a mid level starter and crossing fingers. I am not in favor of spending significant resources to make a good rotation "sick".

You are all right. Calhoun to LF, Heyward to RF. Angels being Angels again.
