  1. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 5, 2015 -> 11:58 AM) He hangs out in the hotel and takes the team bus to the game. Much better than driving 4 hours a day. If anything, keeping a 74 year old off the road 4 hours a day is probably a positive for anyone else on the road. In my post you quoted I said why doesn't he just get a place to stay in the city for home games. You are avoiding the time zone issues and aren't forced to eat out all the time.
  2. QUOTE (raBBit @ Oct 5, 2015 -> 12:01 PM) Oh and I would be a lot more surprised if Thompson is hitting .270/.340/.400 at the end of next April than I would be if he was 2-38. I'm no longer surprised at any of our hitters being 2-38 in April.
  3. Listen, here's the reality: There are 2 outfield spots that have players you can upgrade over with dynamic talent. You don't hold their spots for them. But if you can't upgrade without spending $200 million on a player on the wrong side of 30 who will almost certainly have the worst year of their career as a member of the white sox, then I would rather roll with a better defensive outfield with Trayce Thompson than going on with the Avi Garcia project. Getting our pitchers ERAs closer to their FIP would be helpful to flip some of them or help us win games. Believing Trayce should be a part of the team next year does not mean you believe he'll be an all star. BUt we have very crappy players.
  4. Glad everyone else thought it was weird that road games were easier. Couldn't he just get a hotel in Chicago for a home series? Same...kinda thing right?
  5. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 5, 2015 -> 11:34 AM) When it gets down there, it's not much different. If Trayce is a .230 hitter, those who think the Sox need to build around him now will be calling for his head. Well, sorry Trayce. You aren't going to start next year because if you fail I may to say that you shouldn't be starting, which is very bad because the worst thing in the world is to re-align your views based off more information!
  6. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 5, 2015 -> 11:14 AM) 134 PA is not a lot to go on. Look at Viciedo's at a much younger age. What I don't get is the posts that say, "I don't care if he hits .230, his defense in CF...". Yes, they do care if he hits .230. Brian Anderson was advanced stat-wise one of the greatest CFs defensively who ever lived in 2006, and he hit .225, and he wound up benched, and everyone cared he hit .225 even though the team had an offense that could cover .225 a heck of a lot better than the 2016 White Sox unless Hahn has the greatest winter ever, and everything goes more than right next year with the bats. There's a difference there. 1) Anderson's defense was more valuable than Mackowiak but anyway Anderson did not hit for power that year. I think people are assuming Trayce would be closer to 18-20 HR power, and with more than the 1 triple Anderson accomplished.
  7. Part-time DH, sign me up!
  8. Well, looks like it's Drew Lock again vs. Florida. I hope he can beat Mauk's 58 yards passing from last year (but i'll take our defense/special teams scoring 4 touchdowns)
  9. It seems stupid to fire a coach 4 games in. Either you should have known and not gone into the season with him, or let him try and turn it around.
  10. You thought it was pointless to trade Marshall ESPECIALLY if they were going to draft White? Bears traded Marshall because they clearly wanted football players who were going to focus on getting the new system in place and not themselves. They did not trade him for 2015. They did not draft White for 2015. They drafted White because they thought he was a dynamic talent, and that he got hurt in the preseasona nd isn't immediately helping the team doesn't mean he is a bad pick any more than it makes Fowler a bad pick.
  11. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Oct 4, 2015 -> 07:17 PM) Yeah so take a QB who will have no RG or LT. His #1 will be an unproven rookie WR. His starting RB will be Jeremy Langford. His team won't have any inside LB's, CB's, rush LB's aside from McPhee, or a starting FS. It'll be great. The team will look a lot different than this year's Because when you draft a great QB you only get them for 1 year. I understand.
  12. Yeah what a stupid fan base that would pay money to watch a great baseball player. Don't they know he's four WAR short?!?!?!?!
  13. You probably don't need to lose 20 lbs for that. Just stick to 1800 calories, and do like T25 or P90 x or something. You'll lose inches and keep weight where you want it.
  14. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Oct 4, 2015 -> 04:49 PM) Yeah go 0-16 and take Goff to fix the least of your issues and still leave tons of the same holes for 2016 woo hoo Yeah would much rather be Rams or Texans they are going to the Super Bowl.
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 4, 2015 -> 06:14 PM) All I'm saying back is...please for God's sake let's not pencil in Trayce and then say "now we're a competitive roster because he's guaranteed to repeat what he did this year after his callup". Play him and see what happens? Sure. Invest a huge amount in 3b and then act totally surprised that Trayce hits sub-.200 next year? Totally a White Sox move. Will take this vs signing an average offensive upgrade with passable Defense only to see them post a career worst year. Surrounding a strong pitching staff with strong defense seems like a much better plan than trying to plug up this offense.
  16. Leaving aside the anxiety over the future of the franchise, let's chat about the actual year. The baseball that we will not watch for 6 more months. Best Trayce Thompson - Last year it felt like you just got used to Trayce underperforming but being mentioned as a prospect due to name recognition. He had a great start though and was the single best thing about this season to me. The one player I could see having fun. Jose Abreu home run via Bradley flipping over fence Carlos Sanchez D Saladino walk up music Quintana Quintana Quintana Quintana Quintana best pitcher in baseballllllll hype mannnnn Worst Opening Day After 3 terrible games to start the season you couldn't have played a more demoralizing way in front of a packed crowd. One game doesn't mean anything in baseball, but that game seemed to have meant something. The rest of the first half followed suit. Adam LaRoche It was hard to watch him play. I don't have a single nice memory of him this year. He was abysmal. This One of the few times our offense showed up. Yankees series We had just won a bunch to get back in it. We were coming home. Let's do this. We are down 12-2 in the third. I leave and go watch from a nearby bar and sulk. Truly miserable. Jeff Samardjiza All of it.
  17. Tyler's sax walk up music among the highlights this season.
  18. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Oct 4, 2015 -> 03:02 PM) Am I the only one who thinks the Cooper TD from the 1st half was incomplete? His first foot was down, but he didn't have control of the ball at the time- he bobbled! I watched the replay in slow-motion several times... I was surprised they overturned the call on the field but it was close
  19. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 4, 2015 -> 10:40 AM) Kang obviously would have been a very nice get, too. Since we just know KW wasn't going to get Donaldson anyway, it's pointless to even think about. It's not pointless to think about. This team needs elite talent more than average upgrades at every position. That elite players in position of need will be on trade market and we still will not have organizational depth to make those trades is a huge issue. Who will be this years Donaldson? Does anyone feel like we are ever a good match in those trades unless we trade our top ten pitcher? That's embarrassing.
