QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 3, 2015 -> 01:11 PM) Caught up on some movies this weekend: John Wick. Highly enjoyable. I heard about a drinking game where you drink every time he shoots someone in the head.....I think you'd die if you played all the way through. Draft Day. Too boring for me. And also incredibly stupid. No franchise, not even the Browns, wait until hours before the draft to do ANY homework on a potential pick. LOL, watched draft day on halloween out of self-hate. So funny how bad it is. it's hilarious how quite obviously the audience there is going to be pretty into football, so no idea why they had such a meathead view of how football operates. Quite honestly, the first trade he received was pretty fair, he should have just taken that and called it a movie.

Nationals screw over Bud Black, hire Dusty Baker
That is such a shortsighted move.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 3, 2015 -> 11:10 AM) To be fiar, Yoda was kind of a looney tune, obviously the reaction to Jar Jar could have been the reason they scrapped that story and added Dooku. It makes sense. Yes, but he was old and didn't look horrendous. Those movies aged horribly. They look awful.

Thanks, good to know. I cannot stress enough how invisible the padres are to me as a franchise. They could be contracted today and I'd not notice a difference next year.

Financial News
From 1977-2007 there was a 101% increase in employment for workers 65 and older. This same group was especially prone to getting cut in the recession afterward. Does not seem like the thing that would happen with a social institution that is promoting laziness. http://www.bls.gov/spotlight/2008/older_workers/

That theory is interesting but if that was the case, that was a horrible character. You can't introduce a loony tune as a crucial bit to your trilogy. The director should have seen what was being created and nipped it in the bud.

I would hate to have Jeff Fisher as a coach.

Thanks for this, makes more sense. In terms of baseball, had no idea bud black was well thought of after the padres run.

Did not get to watch, but the vines from Curry last night were so much fun. One of my favorite Bill Simmons theories was how AAU ball has eliminated some of the more unique players because the same "successful" traits are hammered in early on. Curry to me is the player that breaks the mold. He just sees different angles on the court.

Is there a shortstop or 2b the Cubs could trade us that wouldn't be an upgrade? Why are we having such hero worship to cement our average players as starters.

The Democrat Thread
Line up all the former governors and former senators and former x, its a crapshoot. The governor prior was awful. Obviously you disagree, and he failed in getting a party that had every political incentive to obstruct to not do so, but the last 6 years have seen measurable improvements in almost everything, and performed better than almost all of the other western democracies and continued to chug along as the rapid development countries peaked and waned.

I saw the martian on Friday. The climactic scene was a little much, but it was a fun movie. I wish Hollywood made more of these. They used to pump out like 10-12 of these a year it felt like.

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Nov 2, 2015 -> 04:41 PM) @AdamSchefter 29m29 minutes ago So just to be clear in Vernon Davis trade: SF and Denver swapping 6th and 7th round picks in 2016, and 49ers get Denver's 6th in 2017. Doesn't this give Denver better position on 6th and 7th?

So, Caplan saying they are just "swapping positions" for 6th and 7th picks, which makes zero sense. I can't find article saying anything like that.

Hypothetical: Say we just passed the golden era of football, with elite QBs running their own offenses slinging the ball all over the field, and everyone goes back to the St. Louis Rams set up. RBs start becoming elite items. Run and D. Would you lost some interest in football? This year has been thoroughly unenjoyable for me, and the QB play has been largely bad. If it keeps up like this I'm not sure how it will hold up. Now, I know it's probably a blip, just a hypothetical if the "passing league" trend reverses. WRs are more talented than ever.

QUOTE (DBAHO @ Nov 2, 2015 -> 03:49 PM) At least we made it interesting towards the end I suppose. But man we were ugly for 3QTS. I think the Magic have to end up trying to bring in a star of some sort by offering Vucevic and their 1st rounder to bring in a bonafide star at centre. Rough position to look for a star in.

White Sox sign Lombardozzi to minor league deal
Do you guys remember when Charlotte was a playoff team, and then we brought up Saladino, Micah, Trayce and EJ, and the team crashed? Charlotte has a new stadium, presumably they want to field a good team and sox signing some vet fodder is good. He's not blocking anyone.

Previously when that's happened they have brought in an additional TE/OL and tried to power for a bit. This time it was just screen screen screen.

I was frankly a bit annoyed that coming out of a bye week with jeffery/royal/bennett all healthy THAT was the gameplan we started with.
